Selective translation of poetry of Mahakavi Dr Kuvempu (kupplli venkatappa puttappa),world poet, national Poet, Jnanapeeta awardee ,rasa rushi, kalpa kavi (poet of epochs) by Dr. Raveendra Hosadurga.


I am grateful to dr.kuvempu and his family members. I am also grateful to sri  c.r. anaji ,retired enlish lecturer   at junior college  malladihalli,and a.r.mithra retired kannada professor   bengaluru for informing me meaning of few difficult words(especially in ‘kuvempu sukthi mala 907 in number} .

Note: creation of poetry  is divine,but translation is voluntary work if there is sufficient
Knowledge and poetic sense(for poetry). It can be done as per time table.
Meaning of a word can be got by dictionary,but sometimes meaning of sentence needs scholar.
Meaning of  words which I was not knowing two years back  is not known to me  now also,unless searched and found.this is my experience.one reason  for my translation is I feel that I have written 
That translated    poetry  by myself.i had met dr.c.p.krishnakumar .he remembered that  that kuvempu used to say that to translate him    better  one should be advaithi.mind may or may not be involved  in translation.while writing poetry mind is directly involved.actually   translation can be done  even in Samadhi(trance,peace of mind,coolness of mind,consolated     mind,  equanimity   of mind) actually  Samadhi  is needed  to translate better(to do any work for that matter).poet dr. mudnakudu chinnaswamy  corrected   me that involvement of mind  is a must  for successful translation.thaks to him for the same.
