DHAMMAPADA OF BHAGAVAN BUDDHA TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH BY DR.RAVEENDRA HOSADURGA

 

             

 

 

DHAMMAPADA OF BHAGAVAN BUDDHA:TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH BY DR RAVEENDRA HOSADURGA.TRANSLATION IS MY HOBBY.SCHOLARS ARE REQUESTED TO CORRECT:

1)     YAMAKA CLASS(YAMAKA vAGGA):

(Vedana,Sanjna,samshara(predisposition)to religions mind is leader.to those mind itself is lord(owner).Those  are manomaya.To those who talk with diturbed mind ,those who work with disturbed  mind-wheel which follows steps  of animal pulling cart-follows.

 

2)To dharmas(treligions)(to previously told)mind itself is leader.To those mind itself is lord(owner).Those are manomaya.Those who work with clean(pure) mind -like shadow following oneself-follows.

 

3)One who has scolded me.one who has beated me,onme who has defeated me,one who has  plucked(taken,snatched) mine—thoughts like these those who have attached to these worries,their enemity will not go off(vanish,dry up)

 

4)one who has scolded me,one who has beaten meone who has defeated me,one who has taken (plucked,snatched)mine-these worries who are not attached  their enemity will dry up(goof).

 

5) from enemity enemity will not reduce.by non enemity (friendship0 only it will cool down.This only is matter(truth) of sanathana dharma(religion).

 

6)we are all  diers(going to die)ButBut this except scholars others don’t know.From  those  who know by them  vikaras(disputes,fights) cool down.

 

7)(having good intellect in body) walking as shubhanupashya(……?),without controlling senses,without limit in meals,as lazy,without valience(strengthless),Such person like wind which  undertakes tree under controlMara will undertake (control).(mara is god who attracts sadhakas(practitioners) to wrong path)

 

8)( regarding ody those who do ashubha(non good) Vasana) One who walks as ashubhanupashya,controlling senses well tightly,,taking limited meals,having shraddha(interest and sincerity), who is strong(powerful),such person ,as wind(storm)  won’t take under control, mara can’t undertake(vasha).

 

9) love and hatred excetra without pushing out,who wears Kashaya(saffron) cloth,,who is without  dama  and truth  such  person is not fit for saffron(to become a hermit,sanyasi,muni,rushi).

 

10)those who have put   Kashaya(saffron) out ,who have mixed well with sheela (chastity,good charecters),swho are having  dama and truth, such person is fit for saffron.

 

11) one who has kept Intellect in what is asaara(themeless,useless),sees asaara in saara(summary,theme,useful))wrong determination(sankalpa),false(mithya) sankalpa  who has kept  to such person, saara9summary,theme) will not be got.

 

12)those who consider saara as saara,,asaara as asaara, right determination(Samyak sankalpa), to such persons  saara(summary) is got.

 

13) how in house without proper roof, rain rushes with force, in the same way ( who is not trying to  keep  mind  under control)in feeling;ess  mind(chittha)  raga(love) rushes in strongly.

 

14) How in house with proper roof rain does not rush,like that mind of one who has feelings  raga(love,desires) won’t enter.

 

15) One who has done sin,will be sorrowful in both  worlds(this and other worlds,iha and para). Seing that his karmas have become dirt(malina)  sorrows,suffers.

 

16)One who has done punya(good deed,merit) , will be happy in both this and pother world. On seing his karmas have become pure, will be happy(moda). Will be happy.

 

17)One who has done sin will get baked in both sides.here also boils,boils after death also. ‘I have done sin’like this boils here. After getting durgathi(bad condition,bad fate) will still boil.

 

18)one who has done punya will  happy in both places.here also happy,After death also happy(joy).’I have done punya’ like this will be happy. After getting sadgathi(liberation,moksha)  will be much more happy.

 

19)Though many samhithies are told,,who without behaving like that,  who has forgotten himself(body),he like govala 9cow watcher)  ewho is countinmg  others cows, without becoming partner in shramanya remains.

 

20) who though  has heard   samhithe even a little,  according to dharma,has behavior , losing love tatred fascination, ,having proper knowledge,who have got free(liberated) mind(chittha),who has no interest either in this (iha) and that(para)  worlds, he will become partner in shramanya.

 

2)APRAMADA CLASS:

One who is careful,path to Amrutha. Lack of cautiousness  is path of death. One who ids careful will not die.Onme who has no cautiousness  is died though living.

 

22) Clevers who know the  speciality of  cautiousness(carefulness), indulging in  following aryas  behaviors will be happy in  in cautiousness only.

 

23)meditating without gap,,always having firm valience   those valients   reach  nirvana  which  has  highest  safety(yogakshema).

 

24) As an employee,as smruthivantha(intellect) doing pure karmas,,thinking ,by doing karmas,holding mind tightly,  living with dharma only who is cautious  their fame will spread.

 

25) clevers  by employment,by cautiousness,by mind control,by dama(body control), should make Island (dvipa)which is not washed away  even by flood.

 

26)Fools,avivekies(those who don’t have  knowledge of good or bad,right and wrong),will join pramada(mistake).clever  protects apramada (not committing pramada)  like better money.

 

27) Don’t join apramada(don’t do pramada). Don’t ayytach to sex joy(lust joy).(because) one who is meditating with consciousness  gets more joy.

 

28) one who knows when removes away  pramada(mistakes) with carefulness, then that bold without any sorrow ,ithout ubdergoing sorrow  scholarly people9specialists),like a person  on mountain sees people on  land(ground), consciousness(prajne) rises upstairs and  and will be seing.

 

29)Intelligent (clever)  in those without cautiousness  ,himself having cautiousness(eccharike),  among those who sleep  as awakened,as speedily walking horse  puts back  weak horse,leaves them and goes forward.

 

30) By apramada(not committinmg mistake)  Maghavantha became high among gods.  All praise apramada.Blame apramada always.

 

31)indulging in apramada only, bhikshu who sees fear in pramada  will never fall down. He is nearer to Nirvana(liberation).

 

2)     CHITTHA CLASS(CHITTHAVAGGA(mind =chittha):

33) As arrow makes makes  arrow bamboo(split bamboo,bidiru) straight ,  intelligent  shaking,fickle,difficult to control, non preventable, chittha(mind) Wll get matched(matches with mind).

 

34)Like fish lifting from pond(water house)  thrown on ground ,this mind to avoid pasha(rope) of mara (kama),is struggling.

 

35) it is better to tame mind  which nis difficult to control  and is flying  rushing according to it’s wish.If mind is tamed produces produces joy(happiness).

 

36)difficult to see,very delicate, rushing towards it’s likings, mind(chittha)  clever(intelligent) should protect.If mind is protected  there is happiness.

 

37)Capable of going to distance,,can move by itself alone,bodyless, ,mind which is in cave, who will hold they willed be released from bindings of Mara(kama,lust god).

 

38) Whose mind has not come to dstand still, who does not know right religion,  whose pleasantness of mind , is still oscillating(shaking), consciousness(prajne) of such person  is not complete(PARIPURNA).

 

39) whose mind is not  is not leaking, whose mind id shaking(oscillating), who is beyond punya(goos deeds,merits) and sins  to such awakened persons  no fear.

 

40)Knowing this body as soil pot,  present like city fort,  making present mind stand still(stagnant), holding weapon   called consciousness(prajne) ,  should fight with  mara(kama,lust god).  Even after winning  he(it) should be kept under control.  Should me moving9wandering) houselessly.

 

41)Ayyo! This body becoming  spiritless (chethanarahitha) as early as possible ,without  useful to  any work, as low(inferior) lays down on land(ground).

 

42) Enemy  what wicked he will  do to his enemy, enemy what  bad he has done to his enemy ,more wicked than that  mind in wrong path does to itself.

 

43)  Mother father how much good  they can’t do   which relatives can’t do, ,more Shreyas(development,growth,progress)  mind in proper path will do.

 

4)PUSHPAVARGA(FLOWER CLASS):

44) Who  wins  this earth,along with gods  will win this Yamaloka(yamaworld,hell). Who will choose well adviced Dhammapada , like clever choosing(welecting)  flowers (such person wins).

 

45)Shaiksha will win earth. Along with gods wins  yama world. Dharmapada whivh is adviced well by  shaiksha   chooses  like a clever who chooses flowers.

 

46)Knowing that this body is like foam,,one who knows it is like  mirage(marichike)  well, will cut off  hugolas of mara(kama.lust). will not appear to  death(death raya).

 

47)which person keeping mind somewhere, is like cutting  flowers only,to such person  like river flood  washing away sleeping persons  death will  carry off.

 

48)which  keeping mind somewhere , as though cutting flowers ,without getting satisfied by  how ever much kamas, such person  yama will take under his control.

 

49)how bee without spoiling  flower’s colour  or smell  carry and run away rasas,in the same way  muni should move in village.

 

50) One should not see others  bad works,other’s talk,or what is left . One should see what he himself has  done or left.

 

51) how a beautiful flower to look ,having colour,smellless  flower is  in the same way, good words of a behaviorless person   is valueless.

 

52)a flowetr beautiful to look, with good colour and smell ,like this, good words of a person  who behaves according to  his words is valuable.

 

53) How by flower masses  many kinds of garlands are done, ,in the same way  man who is born, may  do many punya karmas.

 

 54)Smell of flowers will not  spread  opposite to wind. Smell of Chandana(sandal),thagara,jasmine- smell of these  will not spread like that. But  fragrance(good smell) of sathpurushas(good people) will spread in all directions.

 

55)whether Chandana(sandal),thagara,naidile9water lilly),,varshike -than smell of all these  fragrance of Sheela(chastity,holiness,pious) is endless(no equal).

 

56) smell in thagara,sandal is little.  But fragrance of chate (Sheela)person  is spread in gods also(upto gods).

 

57) Moving carefully with chastity, path of those who are liberated by  right knowledge,  is not got my mara(kama).

 

58-59) How in thippe(dirt mass) put in high way  beautiful fragrance lotus  takes birth,in the same way  In midst of fools(dullards)  who are blind,  Samyak Sambuddha, shravaka will be shining by his consciousness(prajne).

 

 5) children class(baalavagga):

 

60)for one who does jagarana one night itself is very long. To one who is tired yojana iself is very distant. To wickeds who does not know saddharma   family itself is very long.

 

51) while moving  if one who is better or equal is not got , he should walk alone. It means wicked should not become friend.

 

62)I have got children.There is money with me- a wicked who thinks like this, will get spoiled.  He himself is not to him. When it is so, where children,where money?

 

63)which wicked  knows that he does not know anything, to that extent he is scholar only.  One who thinks himself as  scholar ,he himself is wicked.

 

64)wicked(ignorent) though he is in service of   scholar  through out life,as spoon(soutu) does not know   taste of thovve(sup),to him dharma(religion)  is not known even a little.

 

65)if a clever is in service of scholar  for short time(one muhurtha) it is enough. As tongue knows the taste of  thove, he quickly knows secret.

 

66)Fools (dullards) who have no knowledge,by which bitter fruit is got, doing  such sinworks only  become enemies by themselves to themselves.

 

67) by doing which pain is produced,fruit of which one has to  experience with crying face,it is better not to do such ksarma.

 

68)By doing which pain is produced, which’s fruit can be experienced with joy,to do such ksarma is right.

 

69)Till when sin is  not matured ,till then one who without knowledge  thinks as honey only. But when sin matures  he will get sorrow.

 

70) let wicked eat meals with Kushagra(tip of darbhe). He will not get  even part(visapala)  those who know  count nof dharma(religion).

 

71)new milk will not get spoiled(broken) suddenly.In the same way v sinful works also  will not get matured as soon as donle.  Like kenda(burning charcoal) Covered with ash, it follows to burn aviveki.

 

72)All knowledge of wicked is for  hisdestruction only.It destroys shukshamsha  of that wicked. It makes his head to fall.

 

73-74)Not present feelings,puraskara(honour) in bhikshus ,lordship in matas(mutts), worship in other’s house he desires.’let house holders and sanyasies  accept what I do.to do and not to do -to this matter both of them be under my control.” Like this is determination(sankalpa) of wicked.(his) desire anf pride will be growing.

 

75) upanishath of profit is different. Upanishath which makes to reach nirvana(liberation)  is different.  Like this Buddha’s shravaka knowing, without enjoying  sathkara(honour), should make viveka to increase.

 

6)SCHOLAR CLASS:

76) On seing  doing what is not to be done,ordering clever if anybody is seen ,knowing  rules snd regulations  if he tells,such scholar  should be served.to one who serves such person good happens and bad will not happen.

 

77) Whou shouts,giving knowledge,sand  tries to  remove  non decency(asabhyathe) , such person becomes lovable to good people. Becomes non lovable to bad people.

 

78) Should  not be mixed with sinful friends. Should not mix with low people. Welfare(kalyana) purushotthamas  should served.

 

79) As scholar has done drinks of dharma(religion), sleeps with pleasant mind  happily. He  plays in path shown by aryas always.

 

80) Neeruganties(water suppliers)  carries water where evere wanted. Thise who  do arrows  bends  bamboos as they like. Csarpenters  convert  wood to desired shape. In the same way scholars get corrected themselves by themselves.

 

81) how a big sible rock  does not move due to wind,in the same way  scholars  though people blame them ,or praise them,will not move(shake)/

 

82) deep pit  how clean and mudless  in the same way, scholar who has  listened known scholar will be clean(pure).

 

83) Sathpurushas (good persons,saints) will leave  bevaing according to will. Santhas will not speak anything  with desire of happyness. Whether joy comes or sorrow comes, scholars will not show rise and fall.

 

84) Who for own sake  or for others, does not desire  son,money,nation,,who does want that  his facilities should increase  by non religion (adharma) he himself is chaste,scholar,religious.

 

85)In humans those who want to cross (ocean of family,bhava) are  very less.

 All remaining people are  walking  on this side bank only.

 

86)knowers9scholars) after informing dharma 9religion) properly,who follow dharma only, they will reach impossible to cross  bank beyond death place 

(mrithyu sthala).

 

87)87-88)One who is clver leaving krishna dharma(bad) should follow   Shukla (good)dharma only. Leaving house,coming to houseless field(bayalu), having difficult viveka ,leaving all desires, without having anything as mine  should  desire to stay there only. Without any mind sorrows,  one should wash oneself.

 

89) whose mind is well  crushed(experienced0  in sanbodhi’s parts,who without upadana  are indulged in  leaving parigraha(acceptance) only,  who are shining by losing  all  asravas, they  only will  get Parinirvana(liberation) in this world.

 

7)ARHANTHA CLASS(ARAHANTHA VAGGA):

90) after completion of walking of path, without any sorrow,,getting released by all  kinds, to one who has removed  all knots,  to such peson no pain.

 

91) Those who have smruthies,,they are doing job. In house they will not get abhirathi(love,pride,abhimana). As swans leave low ponds will leave house and go.

 

92) To whom there no binding things,who know enjoyments, Shunysatha animittha  called librration appers to whom,like condition of  moving birds in sky, their condition is  impossible to guess.

 

93) whose asravas are teared(savedu),,who are not dependent in other’s food,shunyatha animittha called liberation  to whom it appears,as it is  impossible  to recognize steps of birds in sky,it is impossible to recognize steps of such persons.

 

94) as charioteer who has tamed horses,in the same way whose senses are peaceful(under control),,who have detached pride, who is without asravas, If such jnanies are seen, even to gods there will be desire to become like him.

 

95) Who is forgiving (kshame,forgiveness)like earth, like Indrakeela  has stood firmly non moving in suvratha(good vow), who is in mudless clear pit,,to that jnani family is not got.

 

96) to jnani who has become peaceful by  Samyak jnana(right knowledge), mind is peaceful. To s uch peaceful(jnani) ,karma also becomes peaceful.

 

97) Who will not believe simply,who knows  Akrutha nirvana(liberation),who has cut nodes(gennu) of family,  who has destroyed chance of family, who has left all desires, he is utthama purusha(better person).

 

98)wheter in place(village) or forest,in down,in upo, where arhantha is wandering  that land iself is beautiful.

 

99) On seing which place, to common people love is not  produced,s,such beautiful forest if seen, to vitharagas(those who have lost love) very  much love. Because they won’t go in search of kama.

 

8)SAHASRA CLASS(SAHASSAVAGGA):

100) Than wasteful mass thousand words, ,by listening which peace(upashanthi) is produced  such only one word is great.

 

101) having  wasteful words,thamn mass of thousand gathes,by telling which peace is got  such only one gatha  word is higher.

 

102) having wasteful words than hearing hundreds of gathas ,by listening which  peace is produced  to listen such one Dhammapada is higher.

 

103)Who wins thousand people thousand times ,than him who has won  himself is great.

 

104) Than winning  remaining people, to win oneself is better.One who has controlled oneself ,to make success of jivi (life,person)  to make failure is not possible by god,Gandharva,mara, or brahma.

 

106) One does  each month   thousands of yagas for hundred years.another serves what is bhavithathma(…….?) for only one muhurtha. Than yagas done by first person  the worship done by second is higher.

 

107) One man living in forest ffor hundred years  will be doing service of agni(fire). Another worships Bhavithathma  for only one muhurtha. Than yagas done for hundred years, worship done by second is higher.

 

108) in this world  with desire of punya  what ever yaga homa  he has done for one year, all those if one were to do namaskarams to Rujugathas hagavastu

(……….?) part is not equal. That namaskara is great.

 

109 )one who has nature of doing namaskarams ,,one who does daily service of old people, to him longevity, varna,happiness, strength-these four dharmas  are higher(will increase).

 

110) Dusheela (bad charactered) who lives in samadhi(trance)  for hundred  years,who  does   meditation coolly  daily,his one day life is better.

 

111) without knowledge(consciousness) , without samadhi(trance), than life of by laziness, strengthlessly  who lives for hundred years living for hundred years,one who lives for hundred years,with knowledge  who does meditation  for one day is better.

 

112) By laziness  strengthlessly, who lives for hundred years,  than him, one who has valience(strength) is better even if he lives for one day.

 

113) without knowing huttu hondu(……?) who lives for hundred years ,than him ,knowing huttu hondu(….?) who lives for one day  he is better.

 

114) Who without seing amritha post(deathless post)  lives for hundred years ,than him seing amritha pada(post)  who lives for one day is better.

 

115) Who without seing better dharma(religion) ,lives for hundred years ,than him  seing better dharma who lives for one day  is better.

 

9)SIN CLASS(SIN VAGGA):

116) Move forward to do punya karma, Mind should be pulled this dside  to not to do sin.If there is laziness in doing punya  he become interested in sins.

 

117) If a man does sin he should not do it again again. He should not do desire in it. If sin unites together  there will be sorrow.

 

118) If a person does punya it should be done again again..He should do desire in it.  If punya gathers together  happiness is produced.

 

119)Even sinner also  the sin which he does till it matures  thinks it as good only.He thinks it as good karma only.but when sin matures then sins appear to him.

 

120)Even one who has done punya  till his punya matures sees sin only. But when punya matures  then punyas appear.

 

121)’This will not come near me’ thinking like this sin should not be neglected. Nbecause when each water srop tickles(falls drop by drop) big pot fills up.therefore though wicked  though collects little by little,he will fill up sin.

 

122)’it will not come near us’ like this punya should not be neglected. Because 

Drop by drop  if falls even big pot fills up. If a clever though collects little by little  fills up punya.

 

123) Having little sartha s very rich merchant as he leaves path of fear,,one who wants to live  leaves sense objects,sinful works should be left totally.

 

124) if there is no ulcer in hand  matter can be carried in hand.to one who has no ulcer poison will not rise. Like this to one who does not do sin,iyt’s fruit will not attach.

 

125) Who ,without defects to pure and dirtless person  who does wicked , his sin  like dust thrown against  air(wind) returns towards him only.

 

126)Few sinners take birth in uterus(womb). Still few will get hell. Punya people will get heaven. Those who have no asravas will get liberation(nirvana).

 

127) whether in sky,in middle of sea,,if enters cave in hills, if they are here,those who have  done sins,  will be relieved from it’s fruit ,such place is not there in world.

 

128) Whether in sky,or in middle of sea, those who have entered cave of hills, those  who will   not fall after getting  death, such place is not there in world.

 

10) PUNIISHMENT CLASS(DANDA VAGGA):

 

129) All all are afraid of punishment. All will fear to death. Knowing others are like me only,shold not kill should not be made to kill.

 

130) All are afraid of punishment. All have desire to live. Knowing others are like me  one should not kill ,one should not make to kill.

 

131) Animals  which are desiring for their joy, who for his happiness  punishes and violates  he will not get happiness in future.

 

132) animals which are desiring for happiness  in order to become happy ,who will not punish them he will get happiness.

 

133)Don’t pain anybody with stiff words. They may tell what you have told.angry words will be sorrowful. You may gat anti punishments.

 

134) Like a broken kanchu(a kind of metal), which does not make sound ,if you can keep yourself soundless,see,you have already got liberation.,no fight in you.

 

135)cow watcher with stick how he carries them to kavalu,in the same way old age and births  chase longevity of  jivies.

 

136) a wicked has no  carefulness while doing sinful works. That dullard  later by his karmas as though getting burnt with fire  will get pain

 

137-140) Who punishes and bla mes those who  are not fit for punishment ,,he will get one fate(destination) among ten  quickly.more pain,loss,death, bad disease, madness,trouble from king or government,will become fit for bad name,relatives destruction,destruction of enjoyments, or fire will set to his house.After leaving body he will get niraya.

 

141)Either by walking naked,,by leaving jates,by appleyimg mud,,by fasting,,if slept on hard surface(ground), by mixing dust with water and applying,,by sitting in squatting position  will not purify that person who has  not crossed desires.

 

142) Though has done decoration,,who hapt shama(mind control)  in behavior,as dantha,shantha(peaceful),with niyamas,as brahmachari (celibant),without punishing any animal  who is present he himself is brahmana.He himself is shramana. He himself is bhikshu.

 

143)  LIKE better horse  AS IT KNOWS AND AVOIDS BEAT OF KORADE,WHO WITH SHYNESS  prevents bad works ,who understands blame quickly, ,such person is one in  this world.                                   

 

144) Like   better horse to which  korade(stick) hit has fallen,  become persons with  pain(santhapa) and speed. Shraddhe(interest,sincerity),Sheela(chastity), valience,samadhi(ytrance),dharma nishchaya(religion decision)-be having all these. Education,behavior(conduct)-getting all these, having Sruthi,avoid this family  which is very sorrowful. 

 

145) One who passes  water  makes water to pass  which ever side he wants. One who makes arrow bends bamboo  as he wants. Carpenter bends  wood to figure which he wants.like this  good people   get corrected by  themselves.

 

11)JARAVARGA(JARAVAGGA)(old age class):

146) While fire is  burning always  what laugh ,whatjoy? Without seing path in dark you are not searching light!

 

147) See this object (bimba) which is peculiar! This body is standing  addedwith ulcers. Is baking from  diseases. This is produced due to many determinations(sankalpas). It has no fixed  one permanent place to stand!

 

148) This body getting degenerated,,as nest of diseases,is destroyable(undergoes destruction). Later becomes thippe(dirt mass) and falls. Livinf(life) should end in death.

 

149)In Sharath season  as dried up sorekayi(bottle goard),dispersed these white bones,to one who has seen, what love will be there in these?

 

150)Fort of this body is constructed from  bones. To it flesh and blood are applied  superficially. In this old age,death, pride,jealousy- are hiden.

 

151)good  decorated by pictures(figures) royal chariots also become od. Like this body will also get old. But sathpurushas (good peoples)religion(dharma) , will not get old age. Sajjanas tell dharmas to others.

 

152) This ignorant (ajnani) man will become old like ox. Only his fleshes have grown. Not his knowledge(consciousness)

 

153 154) Without knowledge  searching house  constructor (grihakaraka), again again getting sorrows and births,in family of many births,by moving got tired.Hey  grihakaraka ,I found out you. Next you can’t build house. All your log of woods(thole janthi) broke. Supporting tree also got destroyed. Withou any samskara(predisposition), getting nirvana(liberation),mind has got  reduction of thirsts.

 

155) Without doing brahmacharya,,in youth without earning money, like a crane bear nond  in which fishes  are not there.

 

156)without doing brahmacharya(celibacy) ,in toiuth stage without earning money,like a much broken bow  repenting for what he has done in past, will fall.

 

12)Athma class(ATTHA VAGGA)(ATHMA =SELF)

 

157)If one feels that  he is lovable himself,should protect himself well.One who is a scholar  should be awaken  at least in one session among three sessions(java)

 

158) First one should attach (go)  himself to proper path. Later he should advice others. Then  one will not under go sorrow(trouble).

 

159)If one wants to make himself so as to to tell others, by oneself talking

 Dantha (controlling oneself,peaceful) can control others also truly.To control oneself is difficult.

164)Who depending upon sinful vision, who crosses  rules(legislature,shasana), words  of arahantha who is guru to dharmajivies (religious lives)  like kattaka(a kind of bamboo)  such person   flowers(leaves flower) for his destruction.

 

165) The sorrow which one has done will sorrow(destroy) him only.  Ine who has not done the sin , purifies himself. Both pure and impure are theirs only.One can’t purify other.

 

166)Though it is much useful to others , one should not spoil his own use. Knowing  his own favour one should get engaged in that work only.s

 

13)WORLD CLASS(WORLD  VAGGA):

 Bad charecters, should not be followd. One should not be without carefulness.False vision(mithya dristi) should not be followd. World should not be developed(grown).

 

168) should rise.on whould not forget oneself. One should perform  good character religion.  One who performs (celecrates) here will be  sleep happily in  

 This and other world.

 

169)Good religion should be done. Bad character should never be followd.  One who fllows dharma(religion)  will sleep happily in this and other world.

 

170)like seing water bubble,like seing mirage(bisilu kudure,marichike)  one who sees this world  death king will not see.

 

171)  Come and See this world which is peculiar like  chariot  of king . In this Wickeds get caught and suffer. To those who know they will have no interest in  this.

 

172) One first forgetting himself awakens later,he like moon released from Cloud  enlightens this whole world.

 

173) sin done by whom is covered by punya(good deed,merit), he like moon relieved from cloud  enlightens this whole world.

 

174)This world is like blind.  In this  those who see(normal eye) are less.Like bird released from net  only few go to heaven.

 

175) swans move in Sun path. Yogis who have ruddhies  walk in sky.Bold people winning mara(kama)  with army(sena sahitha),will be carried  away (beyond)from this world.

 

176) leaving one existing religion ,telling lie(false),to animal which has crossed desire of even other world, there is no sin which is not done.

 

177)misers will not go to  devaloka(divine world).wickeds won’t  like donation. Bold person praising donation  by that only will be happy in  other world.

 

178) Rather than ruling whole earth as single state, than to get heaven,,than earning lordship of three worlds to get srotha apatthi phala(fruit) is high.

 

14)BUDDJA CLASS(BUDDHAVAGGA):

179)Whose success  will never become failure, Wose success nobody can follow in this world,,such buddha who  does not know infinet knowledge  path  by which step mark carry away?

 

180)  capable of carrying man where ever, who has no  poisonous net of thirst  having such infinet knowledge ,step markless  Buddha who will carry away? It is difficult to get human life. It is difficult to live as human.  It is difficult to get listeningship of Good religion(saddharma).

 

181)Which bolds in meditation only naishkarmya,.upashama-is indulged in these, such  smruthivantha Buddha  we are also not there like this  gods also tell.

 

182)It is difficult to get human birth.difficult to live as human.Listernership of saddharma  is difficult to get.

 

183) Any  sin should not be done. Safety should be earned.Should get one’s mind washed. This is buddha’s legislature(law,rule).

 

184)Kshanthi(patience) itself is big penance.Thithiksheitself is big liberation(nirvana).Like this knowers tell. One who kills others is not a sanyasi(Hermit).One who troubles is not shramana.

 

185)thers should not be blamed.not to kill others.to protect oneself from praathi liberation. Should be limited in food. To sit and sleep alone. To indulge in better meditation -this is rule(law) of buddha.

 

186)by karshapana  rain  also  there will be no satisfaction in kame(lust,desires)taste of  kamas is less. They are sorrowful.-If known like this he himself is scholar.

 

187) To Samyak related shravaka  even divine enjoyments  are also not needed. He will be indulged  satisfying thirsts only.

 

188-189) those who arefeared due to fear  hills,forests,gardens,trees, chaithyas  surrender to these more and more. By surrendering to these there is no safety. They are not good protective places. By surrendering to them there will  no destruction of all sorrows.

 

190-191-192) those wo surrender to buddha,sangha, dharma(religion) who finds out four  aryasathyas  with consciousness(prajne)-that meanssorrow,cause of sorrow,kind of crossing sorrowsmcooling sorrows  arya astanga marga(eight fold path),finds out these,- these are safe surrenderings. If these are surrendered they will be relieved  from all sorrows.s

 

193) Suitable(eligible) persons are difficult  to get. He will not take birth everywhere. Where he takes birth  that family(kula)  will get happiness.

 

194)Buddhas birth is joy giving. Teaching of saddharma(good religion) is joy giving. Union of sangha (association) is joy gicng. To unite together and to do penance is joy giving.

 

195-196) Crossing world,sorrow,grief,crossed  worshipable buddhas  ot their shravakas  one who worships  and getting nirvana(liberation)  not fearing to anything  worshiping such people ,punya they get is not possible to  count and tell.

 

15)HAPPYNESS CLASS(SUKHAVAGGA):

 197)In enemies if we are not enemies  how much happy we will live! In enemy persons  without becoming enemies how we will move!

 

198)Ha! In midst of those who are under trouble ,we without undergoing trouble  how much happily we live!In the midst of those who are under trouble we live without trouble!

 

199)Aha! In middle of those who are interested, we as disinteresred people  how much happy we live! In midst of interested people  move as disinterested!

 

200)Aha! As we nothing as ours  ho much happily we live! Like adhara swaras named gods love itself is edible(bhakshya) to us.

 

201) Win delivers(begets)  enemity. Because one who has failed  will lay down(sleep) with sorrow. But ine who is peaceful  leaving both  success and failure  and sleeps happily.

 

202) There is no fire equal to Raga(love). No defect which is equal to  hatred. No sorrows equal to shandhas. No more happiness than peace.

 

203) hunger is higher disease than all. Samskara(predisposition) is  more sorrowful than anything. If  thing is understood ‘as it is’ resulting liberation is more happy than all.

 

204)health is higher profit than all.happyness is highest money than all.faith only is higher nenta9relative) than all.liberation is high happiness(bliss,joy) than all.

 

205)Along with viveka rasa one who has drunk rasa of upashama (peace,coolness) becames fearless. One who has drunk rasa of  religion love will become sinless.

 

206) darshan of aryas is good.to live near them is always joy. By not seing one  who plays childishly one can be always happy.

 

207)because  one who walks  with wicked   sorrows for long time. To live with wicked like friendship of enemy  sorrowful.to live with  those who know(scholars) is happiness giving.

 

208)so valient,scholar, bahushrutha9one who has studied many scriptures),employes,well behaved,arya-such sathpurusha  jnani,as moon serves star path should serve.

 

13)PRIYA CLASS(PIYAVAGGA):

 

209)joining in yoga, without keeping mind in that,,leaving purusharthas  who hold Priya only he,on seing vathmanuyogi ,I did not become like that like this feels jealous.

 

210)Don’t join with  what is Priya ,never join with apriyas. If is happy if you won’t see Priya(lovable,lovely).

 

211) therefore one should not do what is Priya.because destruction of Priya is bad. To whom there is no Priya and apriya  to them granthas(bindings) are not there.

 

212)due to Priya sorrow.fear due to Priya, one who has relieved fron Priya no sorrow. Where is fear?

 

213) Sorrow from Priya,fear from Priya, for one who has relieved from love(priya) where is fear?

 

214)From love(rathi) sorrow is produced.from rathi(love) fear is produced. Ine who is relieved from rathi (love) no sorrow at all. From where is fear?

 

215)From kama(Lust) sorrow is produced.From kama fear is produced. For one who is relieved from kama no sorrow.from where fear comes?

 

216)Fron thirst sorrow is produced.from thirst fear is produced .for one who is relieved from thirst  no sorrow .from where fear comes?

 

217) Sheela,darshana-one who has these , if he is religious and truthful,one  who does his karmas  he becomes  lobvable to people.

 

218) To whon it is not possible to tell by speech,desire in nirvana(liberation), even by mind also knows it clearly,whose mind is not bound in  kama9desires,lust), he is called urdhvasrotha.

 

219-220) Going  outside for long time,s,one who returns form distant country  happily  relatives,friends—all  welcome with joy. In the same way,doing punya  to one who goes to other world from this world ,,his punyas as though relative who has returned from chita(…..?) as though welcome.

 

17)ANGER CLASS(KODHAVAGGA):

221)anger should be lrft. Pride should be left. One should cross  all samyojanas

( compositions……?).. not having interest in such name and form(nama rupa),one who has nothing as his own, such person sorrows will not chase(nback)

 

222) who  contols anger like  holding turning  cart(vehicle)  by pulling, him only I call true charioteer. Remaining are simply  control holders(kadivana).

 

223)By patience anger should be won. Bad should be won by good.miseres should be won by donation. A lier should be won by truth.

 

224) truth should be told.anger should not be done. To those who ask what is present in that  little only   should be given-in these three paths  if moved he will go near gods.

 

225)  who does not make violence,,munies,,who have kept body under control,they without gliding back,where if they go there is no worry  such place they will get.

 

226) one who is always careful(awakened), practicing(sadhana) day and night,, who have got liberated by nirvana  their asravas will become  nil(reduced).

 

227)athulane, this is ancient word. Even those who are quiet  people will blame. They will blame those who talk more also. They will blame limited talker also. In this world there is nobody who has not undergone blame.

 

228) whether  a man who is blamed always ,or  praied always,was not present in past. Will not be in future,now also is not there.

 

229-230)  one who walks by doing vivechana well,”who  walks  without any defects daily.clever,prajnasheela-added with samadhi(trance) “ praise like this,like golden  coin  achipathava who will blame? Even gods will praise him. He will be praised even by brahmin.

 

231)body should not become angry. Like this body should be protected.Body should be kept under control. By body without behaing bad behavior,by body good behavior should be  behaved.

 

232)Talk should not become anger. Like this should be protected. Talk should be under control.by talk without behaving bad ,by talk  should behave good.

 

233)Mind should be protected so that it will not became angry. Mind should be kept under control..by mind without behaving bad behavior ,by mind good behavior should be behaved.

 

234)Bolds(valients) who have held body tight, and bolds who have held  speech tight,bolds who have held mind tight these are better samyamies(controllerds)

 

18)DIRT CLASS(MALAVAGGA):

 

235236)No you are like whitened  mutthuga leaf.Yama’s servents also have come near you.you are in job(udyoga) of going only. You have no journey food box also! Therefore you make Island(dveepa) for your sake. Become job holder(udyoga Sheela).become scholar. Washing dirt,become sinless. You wll get divine arya land.(aryabhumi).

 

237-238) Now to you age is spending(passing). Near whom you are going. In the middle you have no house at all! You have no food box(butthi) also! Therefore you make dveepa for your sake.Quickly become busy in job.Become scholar.washing dirt  become sinless. Again you will bot get birth and old age.

 

239)One who is clever  in every moment  little by little  akkasaliga(gold smith),blows and removes dirt on silver by blowing .In the sameway dirt in you should be  melted.

 

240)   Steel born from Iron,,taking birth by that, how it eats that only,,in the same way  one who crosses ethics and behaves, his karmas only carry  him to bad condition.

 

241) Not to chant again again is  dirt to manthras. Not to work again again is  dirt to houses. Laziness itself is  dirt to body colour. To watchman(guard)  carelessness(sleep) is dirt.

 

242)to woman bad behavior itself is  dirt. To one who has giving hand   jealousy itself is dirt.  Sin works are  dirts in this and other world.

 

243) Higher dirt than all these dirts  is ignorance(avidya). Therefore bhikshus  losing all these dirts  become pure.

 

244)shyless, selfish  like crow,,one who destroys others works, one who obstructs other’s works, bold,non sinner, such person’s life will be happy.

 

245)one who has shyness,one who always searches for clean(pure) only,interestless,obedient,one who has pure life, to such viveki life is always difficult.

 

246-247)One who removes prana,speaks false only,ine who takes without given by others,who makes other’s women;s friendship ,who drinks  alcoholic drinks (madyapana),he  in this world  cuts his root by himself.

 

248) hey man,doing sinful karmas, know persons who are not jithendriyas

(those who have not won over senses), let lobha(desires,greed) and and non religion  let not make you  to become sorrowful  for long time  and not make to boil.

 

249-250) According to their their interest and sincerity, people donate. When it is so, who in matters of other’s  food and drinks makes jealousy, he will not get consolation either at night or at day.but to whom this jealousy is rooted out  and pulled out fully,,to him only day and night  consolation is got.

 

251)There is no fire equal to raga(desire,love). There is no planet equal to planet(graha). No net equal to fascination. No river equal to thirst.

 

252)It is  very easy to defect of others. But it is  very difficult to see one’s owm mistakes. Because  man  makes to stand other’s defects as  husk(hottu) in sieve.  His own defects  cheater gambler ,as he does not show  cheating dice(daala) hides.

 

253)looking other’s defect nonly, ,always searching defects only, to one who thinks about that only,  asravas will grow.-he is away from  from destruction of  asravas.

 

254)here will be no step marks in sky. Shramana will not be outside. People are indulged in world only.  Thathagathas are worldless(nishprapancha).

 

255) In sky there is no step mark. Outside there is no shramana. There is no permanent samskaras(predispositions). Buddhas have no shaking.

 

19)DHARMASTHA CLASS(RELIGIOUS CLASS)(DHAMMATTAVAGGA):

256-257) By deciding matter suddenly  one will not become dharmastha. Who deciding both meaning and non meaning  ,as scholar without compulsion ,who corrects others with equal religion ,that intellect(clever) who has religion  is called dharmastha.

 

258)by talking more only one will not become scholar.,one who produces love, one who has no  enemity  fearless is  called scholar.

 

259)One will not become dharmajna by talking more only. One who knows even a little ,who has kept religion in  daily performance(celebration) ,one who will not forget body in religion  he himself is dharmajna(religion knower)

 

260) by whitening of head only  one will not become sthavira(…..?)>age may be more. But he has become old as waste (in waste)/

 

261) In whom truth,religion(dharma), non violence, samyama (control), Dama- these are present  one who has  vomited  dirts ,such bold is called sthavira

Elder).

 

262) One who has jealousy, by mere goos speech only,or by body colour will not be called  sadhu(sadhu form).

 

263) in whom these  these defects are  destroyed at root level, ,that clever who has left  all defects  is sadhu(sadhu form).

 

264) Onw who talks false without doing vows(vrathas), by mere  by cutting head hairs(bald) onlt will not become   shramana. By desire,profit- by these only  who has filled up  will he become shramana?

 

265) one who has removed all small and big sins  as such person’s sins are removed(vomited) he is called shramana.

 

266) by mere  begging and eating one will not become bhikshu. By  following all dharmas(rules)  also will not become Bhikshu.

 

267)keeping aside all sins and punyas,as brahmachari(celibant)  with knowledge(jnana) one who moves in this world he himself is bhikshu.

 

268-269) Fool(dullard)  and scholar will not become muni bysilense. Which scholar as though holding balance(thakkadi) ,grasping what is better, leaves sins, he himself is muni. One who can do muna(vision) of two worlds  he is called muni.

 

270) by violating animals one will not become arya.One who does not kill any animal is arya.

 

271) by mere Sheela(chasity) vow or by studying more,,by attaining samadhi(trance), by sleeping in loneliness,maishkarmya(liberation,mokasha) joy I got.Hey bhikshu  don’t believe,till asravas tear(get destroyed)  don’t say you have attained  naishkarmya.

 

20)PATH CLASS(MARGA VAGGA):

273) Among paths eight fold path(astangika marga,astanga marga) is higher. Among truths four words are  higher. Among religions(dharmas) dispassion is higher. Among men one who has eyes  is higher.

 

274) For purification of vision(darshan)  this only is path.not other. You get it. This will not fascinate mara(death god,kama).

 

275) If you get this your sorrow will be relieved. As it cuts thorns ,this famous path I have told you.

 

276)you should only practice(sadhana). Thathagathas only  do advice(teachings) path. Those who follow it and meditate  will be relieved from bondage of mara(kama).

 

277)All samsksras(predispositions ) temporary (non eternal ) when on finds with knowledge then he becomes dispassioned(viraktha) in  in sorrows. This is only way for purity.

 

278) When one knows all samskaras(predispositions) are sorrowful with knowledge(consciousness),-then he becomes dispassioned in sorrows. For purity this is the  way.

 

279) wnen knows all dharmas are anathemas by knowledge,then he becomes dispassioned in  sorrows. For purity this is the only way.

 

280)Who at the time of rising up ,without getting up  though youthful and strong but lazy, mind having interest in  bad determinations ,,lazy to one who has such laziness(palumalike)  path of knowledge(conscious ) will not be got.

 

281)keeping speech under control, preventing mind,,without doing sinful work by body,who have kept these three karma paths purely, such rushi will follow path shown by (buddha).

 

282)zby yoga only knowledge(bhuri) is produced.  By ayoga  bhuri(knowledge) reduces.profit ,loss- producing ,knowing these two kinds of path  by which bjuri(knowledge0 increases in that path only one should mobve by himself.

 

283)hay bhikshuas, cutting  forest ,don’t cut trees. From forest only fear is produced. Cut forest and kuruchaku(miscellaneous) plants in forest and become forestless.

 

284) up to which time to man  desire remains in females without cutting even a little, till then  as milk drinking calf is tied to  mother,is tied in mind.

 

285)As in Sharath season naidile (water lilly) is pulled out from hand throw away athma friendship. Sugatha(buddha)s adciced peace path always follow Peace path.

 

286)‘In rainy season I will be here,,in winter and summer I will be here’like this wicked(ignorant) will be thinking. He does not know the obstruction to it.

 

287) in children,in cattles, having pride(fanship) ,mah who has kept mind some where, like village people carried away by flowing big river,death carries away.

 

288) Childern can’t protect,father can’t protect, even relatives can’t protect. No relative can protect  onewhom yama has caught.

 

289)one who is clever knowing these things,having Sheela(chastity), should find path of going to liberation(nirvana).

 

21) PRAKIRNA CLASS:(PRAKINNA VAGGA):

290) by leaving small joys if big joys are got ,if it is found like that,,a clever keeping attention in  greater joy should leave small joys(happiness).

 

291) by producing sorrow to others, who desires to get joy to  himself ,who desires like this, he  who is in relation with enemity only, will not be relieved from enemity.

 

292) What is to be done,leaving that, who is doing what is not to be done,,crossing beyond border  such persons asravas increase.

 

293) to whom  kayagatha (kama related) memory  is always ready, they will not do bad works. They always do duties. Smruthi ans samprajanya  such persons  asravas reduce(get vanished).

 

??294) killing father mother,killing one kshathriya king,,killing nation  with brothers brahmana will become  sorrowless.

 

??295) Killing mother and father,killing two shrothriya brahmins s,killing fifth  tiger brahmin becomes sorrowless.

 

296) gouthama’s shravakas will be always  completely awakened only. To them always  day and night smruthi (memory,mind) will be in buddha only.

 

297)couthama’s shravakas  always are awakened only. To them day and night always smruthi will be  dharma(religion) only.

 

298) Gouthama’s shravakas  are always awakened only. To them day and night daily smruthi is in sangha only.

 

299)gouthama’s shravakas  are always fully awakened. To then day and night daily smruthis in kaya only.

 

300) gouthama’s shravaka’s are  always fully awakened only. To them day and night  in non violence only  mind is engaged.

 

301) gouthama’s shravakas  are always fully awakened only. To them day and night mind is engaged in feeling(bhavane) only.

 

302)To leave and go is difficult,to love is also difficult.To live here only is also difficult -house itself is  sorrowful. To live with those who are not equal is sorrowful. Path mover will be always be fallen  in sorrow only. Therefore one should    not be path mover. Should not fall in sorrow.

 

303) Having sincerity ,chaste,,who has enjoyment of fame, if he goes to which which pshould lace,there only he will be worshipped.

 

304) Sathpurushas(good people)  though at distance are shining like  Himalaya. Thogh bad people are near  like arrows thrown at night  will not fall to eye(will not be seen).

 

305)Aitting alone, sleeping alone, moving lonely, without laziness correcting oneself , should have interest in  forest region.

 

22)NIRAYA CLASS(NIRAYA VAGGA):

 

306) Who tells what is not present will go to hell.One who tells  what he has done as not done  he will also go to hell. After both of them die who has done low work, will become equal in other world.

 

107) wearing saffron (Kashaya) upto neck,  doing sin only, who have become uncontrolled  there are many.  Thise sinners will be born in hell again  due to their sins. 

 

308) With bad character,without control, than eating given food(rice)  it is better to eat  red heated Iron ball  like fireflame.

 

309) One who getting intoxicated with pride joins other’s wife will get fout gathies(fates,cinditions).sin attainment,no happy sleep, will get blamed, fouth  gathi called hell.

 

310) Sin comes,bad condition happens, in one woman who is in fear,,one man who is afraid  experiencing rathi  is little.  Kings punishment(penalty) will be there to him. Therefore one should not join other’s wife.

 

311) If not held properly how kusha(darbhe)  cuts hand only,,in the same way  without following shramanya properly ,it will cary to hell.

 

 312)Which karma has become weak(degenerated),,a vow(vratha) which is sorrowful, whose brahmacharya(celibacy)  is done due to fear of others,-to any of these there will be  no much fruit.

 

313)If done it should be done well. This should be followd with firm valience. Which parivrajaka becomes lose  he will again put dust on his body.

 

314) If bad work is not done good. Bad work produces  repentence. It is better to do good work. If it is done there is no need of repentence.

 

315) a fort which is outside city  how it is protected by watching(guarding), in the same way one should protect oneself. Moment should not be lost. Those who spend moments they undergoing niraya(?) sorrow.

 

316) who to be what is  not to beshyed  shying,to what is   to be  shyed   if  without shying,  animals which are having that mithya(false,myth) vision  will get bad condition (fate,destination).

 

317) Who fear  for what is not to be feared, to be what is feared without fearing,who remains those animals which are having Mithya(false) vision  will get bad condition.

 

318) Who consider bad as not bad, and  not bad as bad  those animals which have false vision(mithys dristi)  will get bad condition.

 

319)Who considers  bad as bad and good as good  those animals which have Samyak vision(right vision)  will get good condition.

 

23)NAGACLASS(NAGAVAGGA):

320) As elephant bears  arrow left by gow,like that I bear bad words.because bad people are many.

 

321)tamed elephant is carried to war. King rises tamed elephant only. One who can tolerate bad words  such controller(samyami) is high among humans.

 

322-323)mules(hesaragatthe),horses,Mahanaga called elephants, ,after taming  become high(good). One who has corrected himself is higher than these.because the nirvana(liberation) which he gets  can’t be got by these vehicles. One who has controlled himself (damyami)  by him only  it can be got.

 

324)dhanapalaka named elephant which was dispersing  army ,which was unpreventable  now due to binding will not take food. This elephant is remembering  forest of elephants only.

 

325) Who is like held,putting grains  grazed  pig lazy,over eater,sleeping person ,sleeps rolling then this person joins uterus(womb) again again.

 

326)Prviously this mind was  wandering equally according to it’s own desire. Now like mavutha(elephant careyaker,rider)  goad(ankusha)  as he probes and controls  now I will control it fully.

 

327)Be indulged in  keeping in awareness only. Protect your mind. Like an elephant caught in   mud ,you uplift yourself from family.

 

328)Having matured intellect,moving together ,walking ell,is such valient is got,avoiding all obstructions s with pleasant mind  as smrithivantha with him, should behave.

 

329)Having matured intellect,as co mover,as good alker, present bold (valient) if not got, like a king who leaves state after winning enemies,,like an elephant which moves in forest  should move alone

 

330)it is better to move alone.a wicked person can’t be friend.  Like elephant moving in forest   one should move alone. Sins should not be done.Should be disinterested.

 

331) If work is done friends will be happy. Happyness produced from one one ias also joyful. After jiva goes(death) .punya is joy giving.

 

332) In world mother’s service is joyful. Father’s service is also joyful.  In world is happy to be shramana.to be  brahmin is also joyful.

 

333) upto old age  it is  joyful to be  chaste(heela). Shraddha(interest and sincerity)  to reside is happy. To get prajne(knowledge,consciousness) is joyful. To not to do sins is happiness.

 

24)THRISHNA CLASS(THANHAVAGGA):

334) thirst of man who is walking with  pride spreads like bending creeper. in forest jumping due to desire of fruit monkey  it dances daily.

 

335) This bad poison form thirst in world whom it takes under control,,his sorrows will increase like growing  apu.

338) when root is strong  without wound, how a tree  buds out again again .like that  if  source of thirst is not destroyed  this sorrow is produced again again.

 

339) to whom  thirty three floods  flow to mind  in sense objects9vishaya) form,that bad vision  produced from love(raga) determinations (sankalpas) named waves(selavu)  wash away and go.

 

340) floods are running everywhere.(thirst) creeper buds out. On seing growth of that creeper  by consciousness   cut it’s source.

 

341) Past memories  to animals will be dear and tasteful. Getting bound by those  who want happiness  those people only will get birth and old age.

 

342) Those animals which have got thirst(desire) ,falling into net  are wandering like rabit. By  attraction of  relation of Samyojanas(?) will get sorrow for long time.

345) Whether made from  Iron,or stick(wood), or apu(?) is hard bound(bondage).like this knowledgeable persons will not tell.  Ten onties?....) of rathna,children,wives-in these thinking as themeful(saara,important)) thinking like this  love desire itself is  hard bondage.

 

346) This only is firm bondage knowers tell.It holds and pulls. Though lose difficult to get relieved. Those who have no desire ,cutting this also,,leaving kama(lust,desire) joy will become parivrajakas.

 

347)  Who are having love(raga),like a spider falling into it’s own net,done by themselves  in this flood(honalu)  get down and  fall.  Bolds having no desires(nirapeksha) cut and leaving sorrows become parivrajakas.

 

348)Leave future,leave past,leave what is in midle.  Find boundary of bhava( this worldly life,iha,mundane),if you get relieved from  thirst every where you will not get birth and old age again.

 

349) Which creature  gets upset(tumulted) in doubts .having intensive passion,has become shubhanupashya, thirst again increases. This only tightens bondage.

 

350)who is indulged in cooling doubts , having smrithi(Memory) always  is doing bad(ashubha) feel only, he only will cut family bondage. He himself will  makes it’s end.

 

351)one who has sincerity,who is fearless, losing thirst  who is without anga(ananga,manmatha,kama) he will pull out thorns of family. On his part this itself is last body.

 

352) Who removing thirst,,without accepting matters(sense objects),who is expert  principle(thathva) is speech,knowing union of letters, knowing purvapara(past and future)  relations  - to him final body.He is great prajna

(great scholar).

 

353)I have refused  all ragas excetras,I am all knower. I am unattached to all dharmas.I have left all. By destroying  thirst  I ham liberated, whom shall I show as guru?

 

354)Dharmadana(religion donation)   wins all donations.Dharma rasa wins all rasa, Dharma love wins love of  all. Destruction of thirst(thrishne)  wins all sorrow.

 

355) if one does not  search  thatside bank of family, such bad intellect  enjoyments(bhogas) will destroy.  Due to thirst of enjoyments  intellectless,like another gets himself destroyed.

 

356) grass to grow in land is defect. In these people presence of love(raga,desire) is defect. Therefore if given to those who have no raga(love,desire), great fruit will happen.

 

357) Growth of grass in  land is defect. In people presenceof hatred is defect. Therefore if given to people without hatred great fruit happens.

 

358) In land growth of grass is defect. Presence of fascination  in people is defect. Therefore if given to people without fascination  more fruit is got.

 

359)growth of grass in lands is defect. In people presence of desire is defect. Therefore only if given to desireless people  more fruit.

 

25)BHIKSHU CLASS:(BHIKKUVAGGA):

 

360)samvara of eye is good. Samvara of ear is good.nose’s samvara is good,tongue’s samvara is good.

 

361)Body samvara is good.words(speech) samvara is good. Mind’s samvara is good. Samvara of all senses is good. Bhikshu who has samvara of all  will get  liberated from all sorrows.

 

362)Holding hand tight,holding leg tight,holding speech in tight,all those who have control becoming better,indulging in adhyathma only,as samahitha joining togrther),as alone, who is happy  such person is called bhikshu.

 

363) which bhikshu  keeping mouth tight,,who thinks and talks, without pride enlightens meaning and dharma (religion) his talks will be melodious.

 

364)Playing in dharma only,indulging in dharma  thoughts, remembering dharma, such bhikshu  will never and go better  religion.

 

365) what ever is got should not be seen with negligence. We should not desires other’s. to bhikshu who desires for other’s  belongings  will not get consolation.

 

366) Though what is got is little  to him, if Bhikshu does not neglect, him only gods will praise.

 

367) To whon in name and form  in anything  there is nothing like one’s own who does sorrow even if it is not present, he himself is called Bhikshu.

369) Hey bhikshu,remove this water in boat. If water is removed and spilled  it moves lightly.If love and hatreds are cut, later you will get nirvana(liberation).

 

370) Five should be cut.five  should be left. These five should be felt. Should cross it’s company(sanga,friendship). Such Bhikshu will cross flood.

 

371)Bhikshu meditate, don’t miss cautiousness, let your mind not move in kama(desires,lust), With intoxication don’t eat heated Iron ball.when it burns’ayyo,this is sorrow!’ like this don’t make to cry.

 

372) one who has no knowledge(consciousness) no meditation.  To those who meditate no consciousness. To whom there is meditation and consciousness, he only is near to Nirvana(liberation).

 

373) entering shunya house, making mind peaceful, to bhikshu who has found  dharma properly, a happiness(bliss) not got by human is got.

 

374) births and getting of skandhas,how one thinks,,to that extent he gets love joy. To those who know it is amritha.

376)In others matter,one  should  behave with  hospitality intellect. To be safe (skilled)in behavior.If so,having much joy(pramoda)  will remove sorrows.

378)preaceful in body,peaceful in talk, peaceful in mind, having consolation well, making to vomit(kakkisu?)  flesh called world joy is called Upashantha.

 

379)Hey bhikshu, you get enthusiasm by yourself. You introspect(antharvikshane) yourself. Like this protecting yourself  if you have smruthi, you will move easily.

 

380) One os lord of own.one is fate(destination) for himself.Therefore like a  businessman  keeps good horse on hold, you yourself keep in control.

 

26)BRAHMANA CLASS(BRAHMANAVAGGA):

383) Hey brahmane, stop flood. Remove kamas by valience.  If you understand   way of destruction of   samskaras(predispositions) hey brahmin, you will work of one and it’s maintainance.

 

384) When brahmana becomes  scholar in both religions,,then that jnani all kinds of samyogas (unions)will disappear.

 

385)  to whom that side bank,this side bank,both that and this side banks does not exist,without any fear,without samyoga,such person I call brahmana.

 

386)who is meditater,clean,defectless, sitting in seat(asana,position),who having got blessed without any asravas, has got utthamarthas ,him I call brahmana.

 

387)Sun enlightens in day,moon shines at night, kshathriya  enlightens when he is ready for war. But buddha is  shining day and night  by his thejas(brightness).

 

388)one who has forbidden sins s brahmin. Who practices samathva(equality) is is samana(shramana). One who has removed his mind dirt  is called  pravrajitha.

 

389)bhahmin should not be beaten. Brahmin should not be angry  upon one who has beaten him. To one who beats brahmin dhikkara(damn).  A brahmin who becomes  angry upon  one who has beaten  to him also dhikkara(damn).

 

390)A brahmin who forbids  things lovable to him by mind, then he will not get Shreyas(development,progress).when mind hesitates to do violence  there by  sorrow is removed(shachitha…..?).

 

391) One who has not done  bad work by body speech mind,one who has done  samvara of these three places -such person I call brahmana.

 

392) From whom  dharma taught by Samyak Sambuddha  is  understood ,him,as a brahmin does namaskarams to agnihothra , should bo namaskarams with hospitality.

 

393) By jates,by gothras(lineages), by caste, one will not become brahmin.In whom there is truth  and religion ,he himself is pure.He only is brahmana.

 

394) Hey fool(dullard), to you what is to happen by jates? By krishnajina and shaati(……?) what is to happen?In you raga(love,desires) dirt is filled. You are washing only outside!

 

395) Who wearing dirty torn cloth,whole body becoming dried up, having nadies  talking body,who is meditating in forest alone is  him I will call brahmana.

 

396)In brahmana vagina(womb,uterus) ,if born in  brahmana mother    I won’t call brahmin. He will become called ‘bhovadi’. He has collection of sense objects(vishayas). Without having nothing as his own,has no desire of taking anything -him I call brahmana.

 

397) cutting all samyojanas (combinations), without fearing to anything,,without combining with anything, who is present-to him I call brahmana.

 

398)  one cutting one by one  mugudana(control,nose control),rope,bindings(ties),thread- all these,pulling out peg has become buddha-him I call brahmana.

 

399) one who tolerates  blames ,bindings done by others,without making   duspravritthi(bad instinct) in mind ,having forgiveness character ,,who has armies of strength , such person  I call brahmana.

 

400)who without anger,as vow holder,as chaste, by learning many things (hearing many things) daantha(peaceful),,to whom that body itself is final  such person I call brahmana.

 

401) like water drops on lotus leaf,,like musterd at the tip of big needle(dabbala), who without attaching to lusts,-to him I call brahmana.

 

402)  one who does destruction of sorrows here only, who is without interest, Him I will call brahmana.

 

403)one who has serious consciousness(prajne),clever,knowing  path and non path,who has got better meaning, ,such person I call brahmana.

 

404) who has house(kethana) who is anikethana(houseless) without  communication with both these,is present,who does not move fron house to house,who has little or nil desire,,him I call brahmana.

 

405) without punishing anybody in moving and non moving  (chara+achara) who is present     without  killing and not making to kill, such person I call brahmana.

 

406)without opposing opposte persons,,to those who come for punishment  keeping quiet,not collecting  among matters(sense objects)  those who collect, who is present  him I call brahmana.

 

407) whose raga (desires), hatred,pride,jealousy,  slip and fall like mustard grain fall from tip of dabbala( big needle), him I call brahmana.

 

408) Who without harshness   who speaks  truth in request form, By whose words there will be no trouble to anybody,him I call brahmana.

 

409) Who in theis world whether short or long,small or big,,good or bad,,who does not take what is given by others, him I call brahmana.

 

410) whether in this or other world, to whom there is no desire,  who has no vasanas(desires,memories),have no interest,such person I call brahmana.

 

411) to whom there are no temples,as one who knows thathas(principles) will not ask “how?how?”, to whom amritha vision is got,him I call brahmana.

 

412) who in this world has crossed  company (samga)sin and punya  who is without sorrow,dirtless, pure , Him I call brahmana.

 

413) Who  is clear  like moon, pure, without  blur(masku)  destroyed nandibhava  him I call Brahmin.

 

414) Who in each path difficult to cross,cause of samskara(predisposition) who crosses fascination, ,crossing family,reaching that side bank  meditating ,,without fearing shaking to anything  without asking telling trouble  ‘how?how?’ leaving interest  who is happy ,him I call brahmana.

 

415) Who in this world  leaving desires,  without house  has become parivrajaka , who  has destroyed  kama bhava(desire of this world) him I call brahmana.

 

416) who leaving thirst in this world, as crossing  beyond(athitha) , who has become parivrajaka,who has destroyed thirsr  bhava(thirst world) him I call brahmana.

 

417) who leaving manusha yoga(human yoga) , has crossed  even divine yoga also ,having no interest in any yoga -such person I call brahmana.

 

418) Who leaving wants and unwanteds  having cool  nature, sorrowlessly,  who has own whole world  valient such person I call Brahmana.

 

419) Who knows  deaths and births of animals  in all ways,as  interestless  sugatha,who is buddha  such him I call  brahmana.

 

420) whose fate(condition,destination)  either gods,gandharvas, humans  does not know, whose all asravas are destroyed  such arahantha  I call brahmana.

 

421)To whom in front and back  there is nothing like mine,  there is nothing called  belonging to oneself, non accumulating him I call brahmana.

 

422)wo as ox(vrshabha),as pravara, as valient, without fearing to anything,as snathaka, has become buddha  hin I call brahmana.

 

423)  to whom previous place is not known,,has found heaven and bad fate,,and whose birth has becomw kshaya(reduced),,whi in abhigne(recognisation)  experts,as muni also, whose completedness is completed , Such person I call brahmana.
