RAGHUVAMSHA MAHAKAVYA WRITTEN BY MAHAKAVI KALIDASA TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH byDR RAVEENDRA HOSADURGA

            RAGHUVAMSHA MAHAKAVYA WRITEN BY SRI MAHAKAVI KALIDASA IN SANSKRIT(SAMSKRUTHA),TRANSLATED TO KANNADA BY VIDVAN  SRI M.S.KRISHNAMURTHY ,PUBLISHED BY BHARATHI PRAKASHANA,SARASWATHIPURAM,MYSURU-50009.).TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH BY DR.RAVEENDRA HOSADURGA.I AM GRATEFUL TO ALL ABOVE PERSONS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS.TRANSLATION IS MY HOGGY.SCHOLARS ARE REQUESTED TO CORRECT.(SELECTED PARTS   SARGAS 1 TO 5 AND 10th SARGA).

SARGA 1:

Shloka 1:Myself for  knowledge  of meaning  and  speech  do namaskarams to Parvathi and Parameshwara with devotion. Parvathi and parameshwara are worshipable  to world like  like mother and father.They both are like speech and meaning. For knowledge  of  words meaning  I pray parvathi parameshwara.

 

Shloka 2:Where is maha Raghuvamsha which has come from Sun?where is my intellect which knows  few matters.By this intellect  to start to describe this  mahavamsha(great family) which is impossible to cross  ocean  with fascination  is like trying to to cross  ocean  in a small boat.

 

3)I am a foolish ordinary man.But I have  great desire to get fame like poets.To eyes of people who see this, I will be a matter of fun.is it not?In high trees there are fruits. They are available for  high(height) people only. A short man  stretching hands with greed,jumping ,is trying to pluck .On seing him people on the road will laugh ?In the same  way my condition also.

 

4) In rathna bead  hole done   by diamond needle, as the thread passes,in the same  way   real path shown by  previous poets  in this Raghuvamsha  there is place to me also.

 

5)myself since birth pure,doing karmas till fruit is produced,without leaving job till fruit(result) is produced,ruling earth up to sea,having chariot path upto heaven, kings of Raghuvamsha  who were driving chariot   upto heaven, Existing (present) “history of Raghuvamsha “I will tell.

 

6) Having agnies(fires) which are done hutha homa(sacrifice),,that means  who have done homas(sacrifices) as told in scriptures,According to will, having worshiped beggers(yachakas,requesters), knowing desire of beggers(requesters)  showing hospitality to them, having punishment according   done mistakes, sleeping in time  awakening from sleep  were doing their works.

 

7)Accumulating money  for donation,,for truth speaking a little,desiring for victory  for fame,havebecome house holders for sake of progeny(santhathi),

 

8) In childhood  learning educations,desiring  for sense objects, enjoyment in youth,having  vritthi(mental make up,mental attitude) of munies,at end by meditation of paramathma(god)  leaving body,

 

9)Sarhapathya,Ahavaniya,Dakshinagni-these three fires  these kings were  serving(worshiping).

I have no mastery(control) of words  treasure  which are needed for a poet.But still great charecters of  Raghuvamsha kings  fell on my ear and in order to describe their family (vamsha) writing poetry  fickleness  attached me.Therefore  as far as I know  I will describe that family.

Charecters of  kings of Raghuvamsha:

1)     They were  pure  by samskaras(predispositions) like jathakarma  excetra.

2)They were doing job  without gap  till held work becomes fruitful.

3)They ere emperors ruling  whole earth.

4)They had  transactions(vyavahara) with gods.

5)classically they were doing homa(sacrifice) in fire.

6)They were giving donations to eggers(requesters)  so that their desire is fulfilled completely.

7) they giving punishment  to criminals  suitable to their commitments.

8)Knowing suitable time  were doing  state works.

9)They used to earn(collect) well and donate.

10) Having  vow to speak truth only  were of limited speech(mithabhashies).

11) By winning enemies  had gathered game.

12) Without interest in lust(kama),for progeny only  were uniting with wife.

13) In childhood celibacy(brahmacharya),,in youth householdership, in oldv age vat end  sanyasa  they were undertaking(accepting).

 

10)This Raghuvamsha  poetry(poem) good people should listen Because if  melted in fire only  whether  gold is  pure or  mixed(impure) is understood.In the  same way  sathpurusha scholars only  charecters and  defects   of poetry are known.

 

11)There was king called vaivaswatha manu.He was worshipable to scholars,rushimunies,,to all perople9citizens).This vaivaswatha manu  emperor  first of all kings.Like pranava to all Vedas and veda manthras.

 

12)Like rathnas of sea,,like rays of sun,hey great Vishnu,,your world welfare works, as are not caught by speech and mind,it is impossible to do sthothra(ptaise)

 

13)Having broad chest, like ox’s  hirulu(hump),who has lifted shoulders,like shala tree having height,having long arms, according to work which he used to do depending on body,kshathriya related  dharma(religion)  as though  high king took birth.In that famous Manu family, very  pure ‘Dilipa’ named  king ,like moon taking birth in milk sea,took birth.

 

14)Meru called mountain, passes through middle of earth,in this very better themeful(saara) things are there,it’s brightness, dulls brightness of all other remaining things,this is higher than all mountains,is described in epics(poranas).poet comparing  body of Dilipa with meru mountain  has used all these  adjectives.

 

15)The  king was having  body  added with all features.he had  suitable knowledge also.He according to his knowledge, studying all scriptures  by classicam way only  was behaving.Therefore all works done by him were fulfilled (completed).

 

16)Dilipa king was to his nearer people  was luck  and accessible(abhigamya). In Dilipa there were  Bhima charecters and  kantha(attractive) charecters. By bhima charecters  to sub jivies  king was luck,by kalaka(........?)charecters  accessible also.luck mens not fit for rejection.

 

17)Intelligent charioteer  rails on which  cart wheels run ,leaving teared path ,not going that and this side  even a line, Dilipa’s citizens(people) without leaving  previous custom, were there. 

 

18)Sunj absorbing  water lterpours it’s thousand times rain.Like that  he collecting a little revenue (tax) from citizens he was helping in many ways.

 

19) To him army is like umbrella (chathra) and chamara(fan) excetras awards were only instruments(means)  and there was nothing to achieved by him.he to fulfil his intensions  by his special knowlrdge in srciptures ,hede(bow thread,bow string)rised to bo0w he   was using these two only.As he  was added with intellect and valience ,other requirements were not needed to him.

 

20)like past birth smells(predispositions,samskaras)  which are known only after giving fruit his saama(samathva,coolness) and daana(donations) were Were known  after giving  their fruit only, and not before.Because  he either by his facial expression  or by fickleness of mind, his secret  mathra plans  he was not informing to othersKarmas done in past life,,their predispositions(samskaras)  leaving in mind .This is told in yoga scriptures.

 

21) as he was doing manthra plannings  secretly  and secter shape  and intension ,all works of Dilipa  were known by fruits only.

 

21)Dilipa king had no necessity  his body due to others fear. He was looking it a depending upon  it’s means to dharma(religion.ethics,value). To get diseases cured  there was no need of doing dharma to him. He was  performing dharma for sake of dharma only. He was earning money with over desire. He was earning money for sake of   his and his citizens.He was not struggling much  to get happiness.He was accepting joy which comes b y itself.

 

22)Though he was knowing other’s matter  keeping silent, though there was controlling power  foegiveness (excusing) character,though giving donations  not to self appreciate –like this opposites charecters  were in Dilipa. As though brothers born together.

 

23)though he was nothairs whitened old man,by dispassion of sense objects,as he had  known  matters(topics)  by mind(heart),by sincerity in dharma  he was called  great.

 

24)Correcting behaviour of citizens(people),to make them to cross ocer from disasters,by giving food and drinks to bring them forward.As he was doing so,he only was their true father. Their their own fathers were  were responsible  for their children only.

 

25)That Dilipa king  in order to keep rules and bindings to be correct,he was doing. He was married for sake of development of progeny only,punishment  as it is means of  money,marriage which is means of kama(lust), on his part were  means. what is the matter here is,Dhartha,artha(money),kama(lust). .These are thrivargas.Though these are three different purusharthas ,Dilipa king dharma only as chief,to that money and lust  as secondary  he had counted(considered).

 

26)king was looking after indra world  by yajnas(sacrifices).Indra also by pouring  rain  was making crops to on earth.This arrangement was a kind of giving and taking  arrangement bonly.

 

27)In his state  theft was not a matter of other’s money,as it was talk of  matter of  theft ,remaining kings like him  were as thought not able to get fame like him it was.The meaning hidden in this stanza  for theft is always another’s property. But as Dilipa was protecting property of people well,it was was not possible to steal by anybody.There fore in his time the word theft itself was stolen.Therefore  for his next kings there was no necessity of  stopping theft.Therefore  other kings were not able to get fame like him(Dilipa).Therefore their fame also did not rise like him.Dilipa was protecting citizens well is the summary.. 

 

28)If good people(sajjanas) ,though they were enemies he was  honouring.like medicine to patient.If one were wicked though he is dear  such people he was keeping away.like a figure bitten by snake.

 

29)By uniting all five great elements(pancha maha bhuthas) had created him.Because   his charecters  were  like that of five great elements  for  help s of others only.

 

30)For his capital there was no circumference of  forts and dooms.Because he was ruling whole earth upto sea as one town.

 

31) to that king  born if Magadha family  Sudakshine named  wife was there. She suitable to her name, following other’s mind  character hesitation(dakshinya) was there. To yajnapurusha  how Dakshine named  wife is famous in yhe same way  Dilipa’s wife was also  famous.s

 

32)Though there were many females in harem(anthahpura)  that king,Sudakshine and lakshmi  by presence of these two only  his wives he was feeling.Except rajalakshmi(state)  to king   apar from his two wives  there was no love in others.

 

33)He was spending time by thinking  today or tomorrow  taht he will get chidern in her. But there was no puthrothasava(son birth) for long time.

 

34) thinking to get progeny he should do something  he gave  state administration to minister.

 

35) Later for  son desire  both husband and wife  worshiping brahma  went to guru vasistas ashrama.

 

36)Melodiously and loudly making sound  one chariot   rainy season cloud ,lightning Airavatha means  one cloud rised on another cloud.This is one openion.Airavatha named Indra’s elephant  moves in clouds only it is also called ‘Abhramathanga’Cloud’s elephant).In another meaning  vyuthpatthi(origin of word) is told like this.Here he has compared  chariot to cloud,Sudakshina to lightning, Dilipa to Airavatha  alidasa has compared.Airavatha is elephant in sea.

 

37)If starts and goes with big army,thinking there may be disturbance  to vasista’s ashrama ,he had brought few family relatives only. But still if his influence is seen it was appearing  there was  army around them.

 

38)Having favourable touch, blowing coolly,having fragrance of shala tree  rasa Throwing flower dust, making forest trees to shake, using they went.Here  poet has describes  cool air, flower fragrance,slow air  these three charecters poet has described.

 

39)peacocks  which heard  sound of   his cart’s wheel ,illusing it as thunder lifting neck were putting keke. Their note was  hereing  like shadja note(swara) in two kinds beautifully.

Shdja swara  touches six places  and takes birth.Therefore it is called shadja(Shat+ja,taken birth from six places).peacocks sound is like that of  shadja,if there is no pure(shuddha) and vikrutha(changed) are not there, Chyutha and achyutha two kinds.Tjis musians say.Male and female sound differently.Therefore two kinds of tones.this is description of poet.

 

40)leaving nearer path only, in near only chariot, staring tied chariot only,s in deer’s pairs seing eyes mutually one another ,looking resemblance  went.

 

Near chariot path only,male female deers were standing.eyes of female deers are like that of eyes of Sudakshine thought Dilipa ,thinking like this, ,eyes of male deers are like that of Dilipa,this sudakshine found. 

 

 41)Here and there saarasa named birds   singing melodiously, like tied festoons(thorana)  were flying as garland garland.That couple was seing them  curiously and moving.

 

42)For preparation of desire, indicating seingness(noduvike),as air is helpful, due to dust rised up by horses ,not touching   curley hairs  sudakshine ,or on turban of Dilipa.This was because they were moving in same direction like that of air.

 

43) They were going   by smelling fragrance of lotuses.It was resembling their breath  which was cool  due to b eating of waves in ponds.

 

44) they were seing villages here and there  in which there  were upasthambhas donated by them.There in villages ,Brahmins who had done yajnas(sacrifices) were doing  blessings.

 

45)Not only Brahmins  but rural cattle watchers were als haing devotion in king.king according to their eligibility, was looking with honour.

 

46)In that couples  who were going to Vasista  wearing pure clothes, a kind of brightness, was shining. After passing of winter  Like chittha star  and moon  when join,appearing brightness.

 

47) Dilipa  on path showing to sudakshine various kinds of  wonderful things,  as they were going ,thet did not know how their path covered to mind.

 

48) That king by evening  time with wife reached ashrama.His horses which had run long were tired.

 

49)Many rushies were bringing to ashrama  from different forests, like darbhe,Fruits, in batches batches.Fires were  appearing to them, without appearing to others.

 

50) In neevara(navane?) grain accumulated  by  ashrama rushies, there was tradition(custom) of putting  little to deers also, rushie’s wives were  had kept.like children stnding at door,asking mother to give some edibles,,in doors of ashrama  flocks of deers were standing.

 

51)To produce faith  to birds which come to drink water in pit(pathi) that ashrama’s  munies  lasses  were going away fter pouring water to plants.

 

52)In yard of leaf houses, spread neevara(navane) grain,they were gathering into masses in evening. Deers sleeping by side of  those masses  were  putting meluku(gnawing,chewing the cud). 

 

53)As air was carrying away smoke of sacrifice(homa,yajna) material,to those who were coming towards asrama  were knowing that  fires are burning well.

 

54)later he asked charioteer  to give rest to horses. He made his wife to get down from cart. He also got don.

 

55)munies who had won senses  to king who has come with  wife to ashrama,who is maintainer of people(citizens) did hospitality.This king  with new eyes holding path shown by scriptures  was worshipable.

 

56)After completing rituals of evening, vasista  was sitting peacefully.behind him his wife Arundhathi  devi  was also there. King saw vasista maharshi  and did namaskarams. Vasista was like   havirbhuja(fire), anvasitha(.....?)  by svahadevi. King found vasista  like fire  with svahadevi.

 

57)Queen who is daughter of Magadha king,and king held their  both’s feet .sGuru’s wife,guru honoured both of them with  love and  respect.

 

58)tiredness happened by shaking of s chariot ,geting solved by  b y hospitality  muni asked In ashrama called state  are all safe.

 

59)Winning over town of enemies,high among speakers ,treasure of atharva veda ,in front of him, added with meaning,words he took.The speciality of this stanza is

In veda told karmas,in punishment ethicgs, purohitha should be skilled.This is told in atharva veda.As told in this veda solving defect, and good doing shanthika poustika(peace and power giving) karmas  he should be able to do(kamandaka ethics scripture) by  visheshana (adjective)  it is told Atharva nidhehe.Vasista was having all these charecters and suitability.

 

60)Divine disasters,disasters happening bt humans, solvable guru ,when you are there  to me all lucks are safe only.

(note;Sapthangas  of state are seven.They are king,minister,friend king,treasury, nation,fort,army.

Five human disasters are : Disasters happened by officers,thieves,enemis,,those who are needed by king  excetra.

 

61)How human disasters are solved by vasista it topic here.Yourself who have found out new manthras,,by mere recital of manthras only,,as my enemies are getting destroyed, as though there is nothing to happen by my arrows  manthras are there  to reject those(arrows).

 

62) Hey ,homa(sacrifice performer)  by me classically  homa material put by you in fire,s,to drying crops without rains  it is raining.

 

63)My people are  living prurusha’s full longevity without fear and obstructions. For tha cause is your ‘brahmavarchassu’( brahma brightness).

 

64)You who  have brahma as cause(vasista is brahma’s manasa(mind) son),,as you are in mt  thought of safety,,my treasure is is increasing continuously,without any disasters  .this is not a wonder.

 

65) but without getting  in this Sudakshine  to me  added with all Islands,though having rathnasful land  there is no happiness to mind.

 

66)As i  have no children, there is nobody to do pindadana to us. Therefore next,in this meals  should retain a little  like this  in my fathers ceremony(shraaddha) will take meals half stomach only.

 

67)To fathers(pithrus) giving cool thil water(thilodaka)  is also not possible me. Because after him, to us there is no body to give tharpana .Like this as pithrus leave long sigh  it is getting heated.

 

68) having pure mind, as there is no progeny  defect, such myself by doing  lokaloka called yajna mind purity  and having defect of no progeny ,I am like  chakravala mountain  which is having both  light and dark.

 

   Inside chakravala named mountain  only as there is sun light, that is bright inside,outside  dark is covered.like this epics have described.

 

69)penance and donastion  both are cause of happiness.By penance and donation only other world joy can be got. But children born in pure family s give happiness in both this and other world.

 

70) The plant which you have put water grown , if it becomes barren(sterile)  will it not give  sorrow to your m ind? In the same way to me who is your disciple   seing progenyless (childlessness)  will it not give pain?

 

71)To elephant which has not taken bath , how it will  produce sorrow  upon  pole to which it is tied,in the same  way to me   without losing pithru debt(runa) ,by this  worry  there is unbearable sorrow.

(to be called bhagavan  one should have these charecters. Animals birth and destruction,happenings, consciousness,forgetfulness .Vasista was having all these  six charecters.

 

 

72)therefore swamy (sir), you should make me so as to get relieved from this debt.beacause to  kings of Ikshvaky family  the works which appear as impossible   work siddhies (accomplishments)will  be happening  by your  power.

 

73) Rushi requested by king  having fixed eye, for a moment kept quiet  like  fishes sleeping  in pit.

 

74))That rushi only by strength of his meditation  finding out the cause ofg stoping (cessation)of progeny  told like this.What has happened in past ,what is running at present everywhere, what will happen in future  all these are known.

 

75)In past when you had gone to Indra world and returning,on path in shadow of kalpavriksha   kamadhenu  was standing.kalpavriksha gives what ever is imagined,kamadhenu whoich gives what ever is asked  like this it is there in epics(puranas).

 

76) as wigfe was matured 9ruthu)  this queen who had taken bath fearing to religion, remembering  that defect may happen,s fit for ‘pradakshina ‘in that cow  you did not behave properly.

If mangala materials(dravyas), god,Brahmins  are come across in path,,bt doing pradakshina namaskaras  these should be honoured. As Dilipa was in thoughts  he forgot this work.

 

77)By which cause you are rejecting me,therefore without serving my calf, to you progeny(samthana) will not happen,like this kamadhenu cursed.

 

78) By noise(upset) of  diggajas(direction elephants)  which had come for play in akasha gange that curse  was not heard by your ears.giggajas means there are  eight  elephants  standing in eight directions carrying earth.This is given in epics(puranas).

 

79) Seing of kamadhenu with dishonour  itself is obstruction to   fulfilment your  desire. Because without honouring worshipables  it become obstructive to shreyas(progress).

 

80)now in pathala  varuna is doing one yajna9sacrifice)  which will run for long time. That kamadhenu gas gone to provide needed materials like  curd ,ghee,excetras to yaga(sacrifice). In  doors of pathala   full serpents have covered ,as they are guarding, you can’t go inside that. To sacrifice called sacrifice,  one year is very less time. There is time period of  upto one thousand years also they say.

 

81) Instead of kamadhenu,it’s daughter  Surabhi, with purity, along with wife serve. If it pleases ,will give what ever you ask.

 

82) providing  sacrifice materials which are means(tools,instruments) of  sacrifice, nandini named fixed 9definite)cow  returned from forest. This is good sign.

 

83)That nandini was shining  like red bud. On it’s forehead  a little bent  one white mark.Therefore it was like  evening red added with child moon(baalachandra).

 

84) Nandini with joy of seing it’s calf  thick like kunda( pot..?),from  udder  downing hot hot foamy  milk, allwing drop by drop on ground was coming.  By water of  ‘avabhrutha bath’ done  after completion of sacrifice(yaga,yajna), that milk  making earth more holy. Kunda named vessel  was broad at upper part  gradually on coming down,it will reduce in width(narrow). This similie is for telling  breast(kecchalu,udders) were big.

 

85)rised from hoves of nandini   as it fell on body of king Dilipa,who was near made him  holiness of taking thirtha(holy water) bath.(it shows respect towards cows).

 

86)On seing that good(shubha) cow, vasista who was skilled in  sign(shakuna) scripture,knowing that desire of Dilipa will be fulfilled quickly,told to him like this.

 

87)King within telling name only,,if nandini’s arrival is seen,s your work will be fulfilled quickly.This you cam believe.

 

88) you eating   roots and tubers of forest, present behind this cow ,as studently continuously studying  as get grace of Knowledge(vidya,education) you also get grace.

 

89) If nabdini goes to wander you also go behind. If stops on path you also stop, If it sits you also sit. If it drinks wter you also drink remaining water. Like this you follow (cobehave)it.

 

90)your wife sudakshine  daily morning  in  madi(purity)s wotrshiping cow, up to border of ashrama you should be going behind it. In evening  you should welcome it(face it) and bring.

 

91) Till that Nandini blesses (graces) you, without leaving serve it. Let your work fulfil  without obstruction. Like your father, along with children you also be a leader.

 

92)at the time when Agnihothra was completed  to vasista who was sitting near fire only, as future knowledge produced  it will happen.This Dilipa was knowing with joy doing namaskarams with his wife to them(vasista)  told as per your order,let it happen.

 

93) Later at the bigining of n ight scholar who is having which is  true and lovable, brahma’s son, sent lord to sleep  who was having great wealth.

 

94)Fit for king edibles,sleeping room, bed excetra  though he was able to create by strength of penance, though vasista was having,,vasista who was knowing method  of vow(vratha),thinking lhat  let  king  indulge in vow from then only, gave things which are available in forest only gave to Dilipa.

 

95) Dilipa was sleeping  with wife  as per rules . on darbhe bed in leaf hut shown by  vasista. Due to noise done by desciples of vasista due ti indulgence in veda studies(veda recitals) he came to know that is morning and awakened.

SARGA 2:

1)     Guru vasista  regarding sudakshine and Dilipa  asked to do service of Nandini. Therefore in morning   after sudakshine worshiping b y  sandal and flowers,Nandini’s calh  after feeding on mother’s breast, tieng calf  Dilipa  went near vasista muni. And allowd  homadhenu Nandini  allowd to graze in forest.Dilipa’s wife sudakshine is not ordinary woman. She is first among pathivrathas(chaste woman),prominent, From holy dust rising from  keeping hoves coming path only  Sudakshine followd. Following in this way, poet tells as  smruthi follows shruthi, by this similie(upame) it is compared.

 

2)     King followd Surabhi as representative of  Kamadhenu, Surabhi means fragrance. This word is used as equal to  word fragrance   Surabhi means shresta(high) also.

 

3)     Kindful,decorated by fame, king Dilipa sending  beloved wife Sudakshine,by her milk  all four seas rejecting Surabhi’s daughter Nandini, , wearing four seas in form of four udders (kecchalu)  protected equal to earth.

 

4)For sake of vow  sent remaining workers to follow Nandini. For protection of king’s body, there was no need of others.Because progeny of manu protects himself by himself.

 

5)Dilipa pulling out  tasty grass with  fist, giving to cow, contineouslly stroking it’s body,by chasing away flies sitting on it, nandini freely without  without any obstructions, looking after was doing it’s service.

 

6)As per order of Vasista, Dilipa king  was following Nandini like shadow was serving. It’s method is told here. If nandini was standing  Dilipa was also  standing .If nandini was walking Dilipa was also  walking.  If it was drinking water Dilipa was also used to  drink water. Like this Dilipa  was following   Nandini like shadow,he was staying with  Nandini  and was following it.

 

7)As Dilipa king  is doing service of  nandini kamadhenu  now he(empror) has lrft  chathra9umdrella) and chamara(fan)  signs(marks) excetra . Though he is appearing like a very ordinary man,if king is seen from outside,  In his face there was charm of king’s face. Though outside madarasa(pridejuice,intoxication juice) was not seen  inside he was looking like an elephant  having madarasa(pride water).

 

8) Spread by head hairs  tieing knot king Dilipa  wore bow which was there only.To protect cow of Vasista from  from wild animals  to kill them started to walk in forest.how this is means  incause of protecting  sadhu(mild) animal  to control  wild (forest) wicked animals  he was wandering in forest with bors and arrows.while king was there in forest like this, there was shortage hunting to wild animals.this appeared rather than protecting  cow it was chiefly  as though  taming  cruel animals.

 

9) Dilipa emperor sent all his servents who were guarding him,,was following  cow(dhenu)  alone.s What if there are no body guards around him? King Dilipa  was thinking  varuna as equal to  god.

 As varuna is  lord to water , he is lord of trees and birds also.As king is called varuna here, trees and birds near by were  singing (announcing) arrival of king.

 

10) while Dilipa was coming on  path  in forest  by side of path there were creepers. Due to walk of Dilipa  creepers were touching  and were throwing flowers on him. There wind was cause.when Dilipa came out of city, then girls in town,tender creepers   pushed by air, like fire near only, fit for honour, Dilipa   by flowers city lasses  by traditional  corns(aralu), threw flowers on Dilipa. This is atradition.To Dilipa in forest also royal treatment was available.

 

11)King was holding bow and coming. Female deers walking there, on seing king without running away, were staring at him only. As there was  hope that there will be no danger from  king  they did not run away. They were seing his beautiful b ody  for long time as long as they wanted. Due kindful face of   king  though he was holding  bow ,those thought there will be no difficulty from him.this is the feeling.

 

12)In citeies now and then by poets or king’s servents (vandi magadhas) , there will be singing of fame of kings. In forest forest gods(vanadevathas) are singing about fame of king continuously. In this type of  forest gods office performance(music kachei) there was no deficiency of any kind of  side musical instruments.In music kacheri(stage performance)  flute is played. Here melodious sound produced   by  bamboos and air  was like flute play. Five gods were  playing side instruments to music as though.

 

13)Dilipa king due to vratha (vbow)  did not bring umbrella excetra  tools. Therefore getting tired by severe sun light of  sun  is  doing sound ‘him’.  Present there only  rivers flowing in between hills  trees fragranceful flowers  due to wind falling ,river water  while falling as drizlings(droplets by droplets) ,filling fragrance of those flowers, were throwing on body of king  coolly.

 

14) protecter king  after ebtering forest, forest fire, without rain fall was cool. There was soecial  development  in development of fruits and flowers. Among cows strong cows were not attacking on   weak cows. If there was less fodder  strong cows were fighting with weak cows  and they were eating.sBut as there was ple nty of fodder (cattle food) cows were not fighting each other.

 

15) both sun’s and   cow’s  both’s colours are red only. Sun and cow where ever they go  they will have power to purify that place. Both of them purify the place where they go  appear as red. When this  red sun sets   like coming red colour.

 

16) King Dilipa  following that nandini, was going behind it only. That Nandini was helpful to  hospitality process  of  gods,fathers(pithrus), and guests. By that king who was santha and sadhu nandini was shining. Like sincerity added with  proper rule(vidhi).

 

17)It is evening. Swimming since morning in that pond those  male forest pigs, are going towards their their residences.Deers and peacocks  in their living areas  searching for place where better grass is grown.wild pig,deers,peacocks, forest added with these   is appearing  as though turning to black colour  . including evening dark  forest has turned to black colour.

 

18 ) 1)without bearing of weight of  Nandini which has only one calf ,2)  king without bearing  heaviness of  chest , both nandini and king  both of them walked towards  ashrama with celebration.‘GUSTI” means a cow with only one calf.

 

19) Sudakshine was waiting in front of  outer part of penance garden(thapovana).She was to meet both king and  and Nandini.She had to woeship Nandini there. Cow is about to return from forest(evening time). Sudakshine has not left her husband for long time  on any day. After seing him one day(12 hours) is completed. Sudakshine drank with her eyes on seing king healthy. How she saw was ,as fasting people  at the  end of fasting drink water forcefully.Her hungry eyes  she filled by  seing her husband   forcefully.‘vanitha’ means  onewho loves her husband too much.

 

20)Both cow and  king who was following it ,in outside of ashrama  standing in  on path in which they come, wife Sudakshine  was welcmsing king to come near her. Cow which was  appearing in between kind and sudakshine  appeared light in between day and night.

 

21) Sudakshine pure and freely milk giving  that nandini  cow ,doing pradakshine namaskara ,with  manthratha filled vessel in  her hand , worshiped vast forehead in between two horns. This vast  forehead of cow  is door of fulfilling desires of Sudakshine.In this worship   sudakshine was standing on right side of  nandini.

 

22)Nandini cow has not seen it’s  calf since morning. It with anxiety and hurry of seing  ,with much control  accepting worship done by queen  joyfully. It has produced same  joy and celebration  to devotee who worshiped. To those who worship with devotion, ia an indication of it’s fruit experience in future.s

 

23) king and queen became very happy on seing  acceptance of nandini with joy ,became very happy.king Dilipa falling to feet of Vasista  maharshi  completed  his daily rituals of Sandhyavandane  and other rituals of karma. Here as though worship of nandini itself as evening sandhyavandane.

In once upon a time facing  enemies alone  by hands which  he punished  now he is doing service   nandini cow. It shows Dilipa’s  simplicity and religiousness.

 

24) Worshiping Nandini at night also,,after it slept  king was going to sleep. He was rising before awakening of nandini cow. To know whether Nandini isakened or not, to see it  a lamp was kept enlighted in cattle house(kottige).

 

25) To uplift deeanas(poor,humble) and dalithas(downtrodden) , always anxious  great fameful  Dilipa  with his wife  for getting progeny(santhana) holding one vow(vratha),  till today twenty one days completed.

 

26) twenty one days completed and  on twenty twelth day  an incidence happened. Municow  Nandini wanted to  examine feeling of Dilipa.Therefore  she entered a  big cave  on that day in ganga prapatha(ganga depth) grass grown.

40)Dilipa was not knowing what to do.Stood like that only. Then lion told: King to you mere waste labour. You return to Ashrama. Don’t doubt that I will destroy treasure of your guru. What is to be protected  by your weapons if you can’t protect  success of  weapon wearers will not come down. Nobody will blame weapon wearers success also. You have already expressed  your devotion which you have kept in guru. There even guru will also  not doubt you. Therefore you return to Ashrama  lion told like this.

 

41) Lion has told with  direct  words  with open mind. To incidences which are happening    to king  Shiva is cause. Now As shiva himself is opposition party  I shoud not give any obstruction(opposition). There for getting  defeated from shiva  no any kind of sorrow.No ego also.

 

42)King as answer to  words of lion  taking out one arrow  withoutable to shoot, first he has to taste of failure. Same kind of situation happened  to  Indra also. While in situation when  Indra had to use  vajrayudha  on Eshwara  when eshwara   opened  his third forehead eye  Even indra also became  paralysed like  Dilipa.

 

43)My arms have become useless(fruitless). As they are paralysed  he is not able to use. But still i want to tell you few words. My words which i tell you may make you to laugh. You know all.But still I have to tell you words.

 

44) Shiva who does  creation,maintainance,and destruction  of  tree, mountain excetra non moving ,humans  excetra jangamas (moving things) to me worshipable. In front of  eye of guru who is agnihothri(fire worshiper)   losing cow form  treasure  is not suitable for negligence.

 

45)  By Feared   peaceful eyes looking at you only  by eating this cow, if you fulfil your hunger,tender calf of that cow  is  waiting for it’s mother  with anxiety in ashrama.  To it mother’s milk only is support. Therefore you leave this cow. You eat me only and fulfil your hunger. Like this Dilipa told to lion. You fulfil your hunger by my body.leave nandini.

 

46) When Dilipa told that he will give his prana  and protect cow ,on listening his words  lion laughed. When it laughs  then fron it’s canine(kore) teeth  brightness of light spreads. That brightness  was felt as though   cutting dark of cave  of hill  into pieces pieces. Then lion laughed slightly  and told to king.

 

47) King you appear  dullard in doing enquiry. You are unable to do enquiry. You are having lordship and emperorship of  world. You have beautiful body. You have new youth. For a small reason to protect a cow it is not proper to  for a king to ready to leave all. Renunciation should be done right. But  loss due to renunciation  should be done with vision of  fruit of profit got by that.

 

48) hey king, if you do to show bhutha daye(kindness in animals)  if you try to protect cow  then that trial is  logicless(yukthihina). If you protect cow by  giving up  yourself only  then after your death  this one cow  lives with safety.

 

49)Lion teels If this nandini dies  by becoming food to me,if you fear to anger of vasista  who is agnihothri (agni worshipper) who has only one cow ,instead of that one cow , by giving crores of cows  to vasista  his anger can be cooled.s therefoe king need not think more about this matter.

 

50) Lion tells: A king should protect himself. It is his duty. If he lives he can do  service of guru and can to protection of people. If cow is not protected  there may be obstruction to go to heaven.s king who is powerful in earth  can experienxe all heavenly joys here only. He is praised as Indra of eart world. More than this nothing more can be got? If life of nandini is not saved  punishment is only after death.

 

51)Animal king Lion though stopped  to talk ,All it’s talks were  echoing from inside cave,it is felt as though lion is talking to king again again. Even hills are working properly .In this meaning   that the king should not think  that  previour ware not hear by the king.For this sake there was repeated echo.

 

52)King heard talks of lion.s Then due to attak of lion cow was addred  fear.It saw   Dilipa with humbleness. Then became more kindful. Now he talked to lion once bagain.

 

53) Kshathra means  one  who protects other  from danger.Such a person is called kshathriya. When a man is in danger, if he does not help him  such character is  opposite bto word kshathriya. By such person what is use to state?

 

54) Nandini cow is  holu Surabhi’s daughter. To such a special cow , what ever compensatition (solution)is given it is not equal to Nadini. Therefore muni vasista will not excuse king  in anyway. In ordinary situation  told cow of vasista it is not possible by anybody. Here lion is Rudra’s servent. His power is not individual. It is Rudras power. Mahadeva himself is Rudra  who bis chief of Rudras. In rudra leven rudras are described separately. Lion  has hels cow  by power of Rudra. This is not power of lion.

 

55)heylion! I will dedicate my body to you. You accept me as food.s Leave this dhenu. By doing like this you will get food.Nandini  which is means(tool) of homa(sacrifice)  is also  protected. Now accept me and leave cow. Like this Dilipa told to lion.

 

56) you are also under other’s control. You also know it very well. The burden of protection of that Devadaru ntree is  on your shoulder. But you have to give answer to  your lord always. If by your negligence if devadaru tree is destroyed, you are responsible for that. You are also a servent. If you go and tell lord  and tell sthat free is destroyed s hoe it is possible to tell.It had to protect devadaru tree. Lords order should be followd even by pledging  prana.

 

57)by any reason if tou think i am not  eligible  for dieing,ypu please protect my fame body(success body,yashas sharira).  My body is made up of panchabhuthas(five elements) and will  becomes panchabhuthas again after death. It becomes soi in soil. On this physical body i have not even a thil of  desire.

 

58) king and lion’s friendship  has happened in forest. Hey disciple of Bhuthanatha(shiva) it is not suitable  to reject my request.King is vrequesting lion. For a good friendship to happen  much time s not needed. From a momentary talk also  strong friendship can occur.It is not difficulty. Both shpuld make mind. Shiva is friend of all and  protecter also. Shiva’s  servent should be like this only. Therefore lion should protect king’s success body(yashas sharira) To inform that love is like request.s

 

59) On listening to words of Dilipa  lion accepted to that. Immediately binded  tied bondage  of Dilipa was released. Dilipa keeping weapons down by himself  dedicated his bent body to  lion. At the time of dedication  gave  his body as though   flesh ball(mamsa panda).

 

60) king  Dilipa who was expecting  attack of lion, by bending  head was dedicating   to death. Then on his head by hand of vidyadhara  flower rain occurred.

 

61)’Hey son rise up’ like this hearing amruthamaya words of  nandini which came from mouth of nandini,,rising up  vsaw nandini which was pouring milk like his won mother.s The lion which was there till now was not seen.Nandini knew king  king as her son only.

 

62) Wonderfully nandini cow is talking!Sadhu! you were examined by me. By grace of my guru,I created maya  with exrardinary power, have created this situation. It is not possible eben by death to hit me.s What is great in this.What is great in these  destroying powers union. Creating maya  in advaitha principle  brahma only is true ,all remaining is  false.

 

63) Dilipa’s guru devotion  towards vasista was  uncomparable. In the same way  in matter of cow  his kindness also ,like this nandini told  both words. Don’t have what this nandini will give boon. How I am milk giver ,in the same way  I can give boon what you ask. I am kamadhenu. Ask what is  wanted.

 

64)As king and emperor having many awards ,having many samamthas,,as empire establlisher also, having unbound valience, Dilipa king s joining hands in front of nandini with devotion,in his wife Sudakshine  let male child happen to me,like this is praying with politeness.s

 

65) Emperor Dilipa  for progeny prayed Nandini. Satisfied nandini gave boon ‘let it happen so only’. Secreting it’s milk   filling  up in leaf vessel(donne)   drink.like this told to king.

 

66)Hey mother , after your   calf  drinks your milk,what is remaining ,later  what remains in that  giving to homa(sacrifice) kriyas ,what is remaining getting order of guru vasista, I will drink.That means  the earth which I am protecting  one by sixth part  is it’s meaning.

 

67) In this way  by prayer of king Dilipa  Vasista’s cow  nandini  felt very pleasant. And with kinf without any efforts  fro cave of himalaya  went to ashrama.

 

68) Emperors  face was  having happiness  and bright like full moon day moon. What had happened  king has not told to Sudakshine. But still  she guessed what has happened by  blossomed lotus face. Dilipa might have told  all what has happened  in loneliness. Dilipa has not talked anything with Sudakshine when met at the tip of forest. Because  where they met there was cow also ,in front of it  they did not talk.

 

69) On another day in vasista’s ashrama   homa havanas(sacrifices ) had finished. Calf also had drunk it’s mother’s milk. After completion  of sacrifices(homa havanas), as per order of vasista Dilipa drank  remaining milk. That milk was clean white. That milk reached stomach of Dilipa. The milk which  reached stomach  like that  poet describes as “fame only reached  body of king’’.

 

70) now a situation has come  in which feelings have to be kept under control.Thaough vasista  attracted by charecters of Dilipa  and his wife, was sorrowing how tosend them to their  capital  . But gave permission to go to capital. Vasista sebt them off after doing essential rituals(formalities) with blessings.

 

71) king first  first doing pradakshinas to agnideva(fire god) ,after doing pradakshina namaskaras to high muni vasista (vasista is one among saptharshies(seven rushies)). Later doing pradakshina namaskarams to  nandini(surabhi’s daughter), and to it’s calf also- As fire burning in homa is agnimukha(Agni’s face) the offering agni(fire) gives to corresponding  gods  in yajna inthe form of havis, makes fruit to reach doer(Karthru). Thereforeni is important. Therefore he did namaskarams to agni9fire) also.

 

72)King along with  his wife is moving  In chyariot with joy. Though forest path chariot is not shaking much. As desires of king and queen were  fulfilled  their mind was also  added with joy. Because   time of fulfilment of desire(manoratha). King is not moving in his won chariot. He is moving mind desire.

 

As kind had  left for more than three weeks and come ,when he returned  his  asthanikas,citizens,as they had not seen king ,again again seing king as much desired as possible, were happy. For people sake only to get a son  I had to these. If king has no sons family will not  grow. If there are no kings of Raghuvamsha  citizens will become orphans without king. King is compared to  full moon of full moon day(hunnime). Later in fifteen days  moon   in Krishna fortnight(paksha) losing his brightness till amavasye(new moon day) on day of amavasye(new moon day)moon is not at all seen. Again becoming bright for fifteen days , will become full bright.

 

74) King is shining brightly  like moon. To king for wecome banners are tied up. Now again king has  put earth weight on his shoulder. How it was means  king of serpent Adishesha .This similie is given. Administration of kingship  king has rised to his shoulder again.

 

75)afterwards  ,ike moon though sky, through ganga  like thejas of shiva  queen Sudakshine ,for development of  Raghuvamsha  with brightness(thejas) of world protecter  became pregnant.

SARGA 3:

1)pleasant to eyes of sakhies(friends) for   progeny of Ikshwaku family   as cause queen  had got all features of pregnancy.

 

2)     In first stage of pregnancy of Sudakshine  her body had shrunken(dried up).Because of bthis reason  having worn few ornaments only,,like dried up flower, faced Sudakshine , like few stars appearing in sky  here and there  were sparse. As there were few stars only sky was dark. Moon was also brightless. Most part of the night was  abourt to complete  and morning was nearing.To pregnant two hearts.one of mother and another of embryo.

 

3)     Earth lord king Dilipa  by  eating  of red soil by his wife Sudakshine  coming fragrance while  smelling in loneliness  also  was not satisfied. Usually on completion of summer ,by first  rain on coming to earth  a kinf of fragnce is brought. Pregnant women will have various kinds of  desires.s among them to eat red soil is also one desire. Therefore  because of this desire  fragrance was coming from mouth of Sudakshine.here fragrance seing king is compared with elephant which  smells  fragrance of  wet land due to first rain. King is compared to elephant, and  face of sudakshine to  to forest(vanaraji.....?).

 

4)That Sudakshine’s son will enjoy   in earth like heaven through Indra. For that reason  as said above,in that way,leaving other tastes, Sudakshine found joy in eating red soil. Here if Sudakshine’s son  if he rises chariot, after long time will stop  chariot there. He likes this kind of  chariot journey also. In the same way eating of red soil by sudakshine  is also compared. If all these pre indications are noted,if noted  child by occupying from one part to  whole earth ,without standing behind, will celebrate  victory celebration.This we can guess.

 

5)Queen with shyness ,told that she has no other desire  and  style of chariot running by son is told. To run long distance in chariot is his desire. In this way till reaching goal, bwithout stopping chariot, to go for long distance,as’ growing crop is in bud only’,  in future my son will win over all kings  and rules the world. Except this desire in mind,she did not have any other desire in mind.

 

6)To pregnant women various kinds of  desires will  be present. Sudakshine was fulfilling all her desires  through king Dilipa.  It was possible  for King Dilipa  to  go and bring  even from heaven  to fulfil desires of Sudakshine. This kind of desires will start from 4th  after pregnancy.

 

7) As Sudakshine’s  pregnancy went on growing, her beauty became doubled. Here poet describes that her was like a creeper withering old leaves  and in it’s place new buded leaves have come.

 

8) As days passed, her both breasts, expanding in size, have grown as though pushing forward. Around breat nipples  added is black colour. Poet describes such beauty  of two breasts  to completely grown, lotus buds and nipples on them,,on that lotus bud  bees are taking rest  as though. This is third stage of pregnabt woman.

 

9)king Dilipa pregnant Sudfakshine”equal to earth utrus(earth womb,bhugarbha)   whichs rathna,  equal to shami tree which  keeps  fire, to saraswathi river which keeps  inner water(antharjala),”thought like this. These three similies  indicate groth of powerful,bright, and pure child.

King Dilipa was loving his wife very much.He had vast heart. As he was freeminded  and emperor he was able to give costly much valuble gift.More he was enthusiastic.As all these were there celebration took place in a grand manner.

 

11) When king visited harem(anthahpura) , pregnant who was wearing part of pushpalokapala(flower world maintainer), moving with difficulty from her place, she herself came to place where there was king ,joined hands and welcomed.

 

12)Later faithful,skilled, child treatment doctors ,informing  future  health of child ,and told that child is growing well. King Dilipa became very happy.As days of delivary was approaching , all were waiting for that moment only. Poet has described  that after completion of summer,clouds gathering in sky,poured rain.

 

13) Sudakshine at proper time  gave birth to a male child  like shachidevi(Indra’s wife).Horoscope of child was of high level.As though his luck ,plantes sun,soma(moon),mangala(mars),brihaspathi(guru), shukra(venus),shani(Saturn)  were very high..To child there was shreyas(development),treasure, state post  these were high. The child having this planet union will  get high post in future. To this child 1) joy 2) success in all works will happen 3) king post 4)throne,5)holiness,divine form all will go on rising. All these five planets  will appear in horoscope of incarnated persons(avathara purushas)

 

14) At that time all directions became clean. Joyful air started to blow. Agni(fire) burning  brightly  on right side ,  accepted havis(offerings). If any yaga(sacrifice) is done ,the havis given to that god should be given  through fire only. The fruit given by that god   has to reach master(yajamana) through fire only. Here as the fire is bright it indicates  good. As the child  is  born for world  upliftment and world welfare  all have become mangalakara(good).

 

15)Lamp enlighted and kept in labour room, enlighting brightful   world only, by birth of child lost it’s brightness.Light of new born child  like picture picturised by artist(chithrakara),was appearing as though to enlighten full room.This is indication there is birth of great man(purusha) has happened.

 

16)News of birth of child   maid servents informed to all people  who were ther in amrutha words. All charms were there in child. King did not gice chathra(umbrellas) and chamaras(fans) to hands of maid servents.The word ‘purna pathra’ means  on knowing news of child birth king gave good gifts to maidservents.

 

17)King by seing   face of his beautiful child ,without blinking eye lid, seing continuously, was drinking beauty of child. How it means is lotus in empty spce  without tasting it’s beauty by itself  gave it to king. Similie of Kalidasa for it is, like an ocean  boiling  on seing  full moon day moon.That means  by bbrightness of moon, rise and  down of ocean occurs.

 

18)vasista who is guru of Dilipa,, by knowing by  his divine knowledge only,,in order to perform  jathakarma excetras of child came. After jathakarmas exctras  child’s description is done like this.’ Like a diamond removed fron diamond mine ,after making it to shine, appearing diamond crystal.Jathakarma is a ritual

(karma) done before cutting of  umbilicus card of the child.

 

19) good instrumental sounds  in joyful environment , combines with dance. This celebration of joy  went on rising. This was not only on earth and  and Dilipa’s queen Sudakshine’s ,who is queen of Magadha state  but in divine world also, there  such celedration had appeared. There also with mangalakara instruments  divine damsels(apsaras) were dancing. Gods were sounding  drums(dundhubhies).

 

20)In state of Dilipa  there were few  prisoners(khaidies) in jail. Due to joy of birth of child  Dilipa released all prisoners in jail. Dilips who had no children so far  was in father’s(pithru runa) debt only. As now the son is born he is released from father’s debt(pithru runa).

 

21) This child will become scholar in all scriptures and he will hit enemies in war,on knowing this, he has kept name of Raghu to child. ‘Raghu’ means  one who is always in movement.

 

22) due to trial of lucky father, child was growing day by day  with beautiful organs,due to entry of Sun rays, like moon . the colour of horses tied to  Sun’s chariot is green. To moon entry of sun rays has happened. Moon is enlighting vrom sunrays of moon.he has no light of his own.

24) Love of  king and queen  like chakravaka pair,,keeping their hearts in  only one son Raghu  by his birth their love increased still further.

 

25) Child first of all spoke wirds told by maid servent. It started to walk by holding fingures of  servent. When told to do namaskarams  it did namaskaras. All these produced happiness to Dilipa.

 

26) when father put (laid down)his child on thigh  from body of that child, amrutha was sprinking. Father is getting excited by his touch. This kind  of touch joy  he has awaited  since many days and now he is getting.

 

27) sathva-charecter in god(good) ,raja-charecter in humans, thama-charecter in demons .According to sankhyas  in all creations these three charecters are present.Brahma,Vishnu. Shiva- all these three create,maintain, and destroy the world. These charecters represent  sathva,raja,thama respectively.

 

28)Dilipa performed chudakarma(chandike,choula)  of child. For that program children of minister  had come(Raghu’s friend). With them only had arranged  program of ‘Aksharabhyasa’ (letter practice). Here he has explained importance of  letter practice. For any education  letter practice is a must. When done so like  river joining sea,this similie(upamana) is given.

 

29) To Raghu upanayana(thread ceremony) was done chassically. He was disciple liked by his teacher very much. Vasista had taught   all educations to him. Here their labour was not without fruit. Proper indications  given to proper students will give give fruit surely.

 

In upanayans  there will be teaching of Gayathri manthra  by father to vatu(son) along with  wearing of sacred thread.from that day onwards  vatu  will become fit for study of veda scriptures. This is usually done at the age of 8 years in Brahmins and at the age of 11  in kshathriyas.Lsater he will be sent for vedic studies  as brahmachai(celibant)  near guru.

 

30)Here Raghu is compared to Sun. To all four directions  all four traditional rays ,his charecters  in compared with sun’s  very speedily moving horses. His learning ability is compared to ocean. It is said  Sun is lord of four directions.

 

31) Raghu  wearing krishnajina of deer  from father learnt  manthras and asthras(arrows,weapons). Father Dilipa was not only a good king but also good  bow wearer. Shasthra means  weapon.asthra means  weapons added with manthra.

 

32)  How a calf grows  big ox,how a  child  elehant  grows into big  elephant king ,in the same way,in the same way Raghu’s childhood completed .Added With  valience  growing completely  was shining with seriousness  and  beauty. Mahoksha means grown up and stood bull(basava).Raghu is noe keeping step  into youth.

 

33) After cutting head hairs, father gives right of getting married to son. Tjhis only is called ‘godana’. Prncess finds in him a good husband. Like daksha’s daughter in moon.’godana /means usually to give cow donation. But here above special meaning is told.

 

In kshathriya’sat the age of 22  before marriage godana is done. Thjis odana o keshavapana  this is different from choula. At the time of godana mustache is removed. In such circumstances  godana is given to Brahmins.

 

34) Raghu was having long negilu (plough) like arms was haing powerful shoulders,broad and complete  opening and closing  door  like chest .long nech.He was exceeding his father in all these in body. But still   as humble statue, without any pride,having thoughts of mind, was appearing as  younger.

 

35) King Dilipa thought  to his son by doing  throne ceremone(pattabhisheka), he will also get rest which was not there since long days. By doing like this, Raghu by his intellect  and also by training got by Dilipa , will be  helpful   to his father in all divisions of administrations. N pattabhisheka making prince  to sit on  holy throne,,on him by water of many holy rivers,,giving mangala bath,,by classical methods(rituals), costly valueble gifts are given to  to Raghu.

 

36)Attention of citizens  more and more upon  young Raghu, moving aside  old father Dilipa  he himself was giving much attention to  state administration. Even rajalakshmi was giving more encouragement to  young Raghu.’kamal’ means fragrance. Tender is related between Raghu and Dilipa.  Vharecter is sign of development.

 

37)making air as charioteer  fire  convcealing cloud Sun,  king could not tolerate  explosion of head of intoxicated elephant. Heat of October month is  added with  fire and air  is very dangerous. To explain this, how an an intoxicated elephant is dangerous, in the same way, growing Raghu  not able to keep quiet, is helping his father.

 

38-39)After doing paatabhisheka (throne ceremony) of prince, Dilipa decided to do Ashwamedha yaga. If hundred ashwamedhas are done  one will get Devendra post. Devendra alone makes hundred sacrifices and  becomes called shathakrathu.s He had also obstructed to  not to do  Ashwamedha sacrifice  by others. Now Dilipa  without any obstruction had  completed 99 ashwamedhas. Now he sent horse for hundredth’s Ashwamedhayaga.  For guarding of horse  Raghu went. Even experienced  bow men were also there for it’s protection. Devendra as maya bodied (with maya body), came and stole  horse of Ashwamedha. Valients  and those who does not accept emperorship of  Dilipa  had to tie the horse. And had to win those  who perform yaga by doing war.s Raghu’s army wondered without seing  horse. He was not knowing what to do next.s

 

40) when  Horse had disappeared at that time  Raghu and his followers  got upset  appeared there. without knowing what to do,at that time  sacrifice cow of Vasista  appeared there. By it’s grace in east direction  Indra appeared.

 

41)Pouring from body of nandini  holy urine(ganjala) taking in hand ,pressing to eye, drinks few drops. As a  result of drinking holy ganjala(urine)

Of  lucky substances will start appearing. Tjis is greatness of ganjula (holy urine of cow). By this greatness only,even now also  in hindus house  gangula given for drinking to diseased people. For atonement(prayaschittha) of sin, in preparation of panchagavya  cow dung and ganjula are very effective.

 

42)To east direction Indradhipathi(indra lord). There Indra was carrying away  horse towards his east direction. Horse was  going by itself  and was opposing pulling  of Indra.To chariot of Indra it was tied by  rope.Due this there was difficulty in  control of sacrifice  horse. In once  upon a time there were wings to hills(mountains).  Gradually hills mis using them used to move from place to place disturbing peace of  people.  In past  demon Hiranyaksha had given wings to them. Indra cut their wings by his vajrayudha. Son of Himalaya mountain  ‘minaka’hill  drpwning in sea   missed away from Indra. Indra cut all wings of other hills(mountaims).Tjhis topc is dealt in rugveda also.

 

43) Gods have no eye brows.  To them only lidless eyes are there. Raghu  on seing Indra  recognised Indra as god. Raghu on shouting loudly in high voice  to be heard even by sky  Indra suddenly turned and saw  towards Raghu by stoping chariot.According to epics   as indra united with ahalya by cheating  Rushi gouthama had given cirse to indra to get thousand eyes  all over body.

 

44)Indra,it is told b y munies  you are the first among  those who protect havis(offerings to god)   are  given.s But what what are you doing? Leaving protection  of  havis given by homa (sacrifice) performers  you are sacking(disturbing)  my father’s right of yaga  why?my father has got right of doing yagas(homas,sacrifices)  by doing yagas always.

 

45) Yiu who are having three world leader(lord) and divine vision  should punish enemies who are disturbing yagas. But you are behaving opposite to right of havis givers.

 

46)O Devendra  chief renunciation  horse of this yaga if you release it will be good. Big people do big works only. Follow words as told in Vedas. Vedas will never teach sinful paths. In this Ashwamedha  yaga main sacrifice is this horse. On shoulder of big people there will be big responsibility.  It is their  responsibility  to  manage that duty. They should show good path to others.s They themselves should not tread path of sin.Because common people follow them  with their eyes closed.

 

47) To Raghu who told loudly  with boldness  king of gods ,heaven dweller  Indra  wonderfully turning chariot backside  gives consolating repley like this.“nobody who is living   has not given answer like near me with boldness.Like this console  to his opposite person’s question  -gave suitable repley. That is one  to push away   another’s argument.

 

48) Indra  inj the way so as to be liked by kshathriyas is giving answer.Kshathriyas desire success in a higher  way. By defeating shathakrathu  Indra  Dilipa is trying to become shathakrathu.Some how winning over Dilipa he is trying  Dilipa to defeat.This is justified to him(as per justice he is right).

 

49)How Vishnu only as purushotthama  ,apart from mukkanna(three eyed) no other is called as Eshwara . liked thar rushies consider themselves as ‘shathakrathu’ only.this my shathakrathu   greatness should not be got by others. It is applicable to me only.

 

50) As I had held kapila’s horse ,your father’s horse I have held. In this matter your trial is enough. How sagara’s sons got destroyed by me  in the same way   if you interfere  in middle  you will get destroyed.

 

51) protecter of horse Raghu  who is fearless  with laugh told to indra”if your decision is that only  take your weapon.without making me to defeat  your desire will not be fulfilled.

 

52) Raghu lifting his face up   looking towards Indra  investing (keeping ) his arrow to  bow   stood  in special position . He appeared like Eshwara  in posture and  body structure  beautifully.

 

53)To avoid Raghu’s arrows   to Indra who tried  there  was wound to heart of  Indra.s Getting angry by this,  Indra invested an arrow which will never fail  to his bow. It made a mark in new cloud like lightning.

 

54) on shooting an arrow which was  intended to absorb blood of demons   Indra used on raghu.It pierced entered his broad chest   started to suck (absorb)  his blood  with curiosity.s But Indra had never used this arrow  on humans.So it had no chance of drinking blood of humans. As it was first time for that arrow  there was curiosity about human blood .

 

55) Valience of  prince Raghu  was like karthikeya of Kumara sambhava. Raghu wrote his name on one rarow and shooted to arm of Indra.Indra sitting on airavatha  while doing war on enemies, to encourage elephant  wat hiting to elephant with both hands. Due to these processes his hand fingures  had become rough. Due to this arrow  as there was wound  on chest of indra ,when he embraced  shachidevi  due to  blood of that wound   on the body of shachidevi  a beautiful was formed.

 

56)Raghu on shooting  peacock tied arrow  to wheel of  Indra’s chariot  flag  flag became cut. Then sound of thunder and thunderbolt was produced. In colu;d not tolerate this. Cutting of flag   was like cutting hairs of  head hairs of gods with compulsion.poet describes like this.

 

57) I should win.myself should win. Due to this stubbornness  are waring Raghu and Indra. In warfield  soldiers in  army of Raghu on and siddhas on Indra’s side  without doing war  was observing fight of indra and Raghu with much attention. Indra and raghu’s  arrows  like garuda(eagle) and  snake  have strated  to hit above and below.  

 

58)Indra was not able to tolerate  arrows from Raghu  which were coming speedily without gap.here indra is compared with cloud  and Raghu for lightning ,arrows for  rain fall .indra was not able to  tolerate arrows from Raghu. Indra was not able to win over Raghu who was his  fraction(part,amsha) only. Here water was not able to put off fire.this should be observed.

 

59) Raghu shooted an arrow with  half moon mark  at the tip. It cut  rope of Indra’s bow. Rope of arrow  added with sound of  churning of sea  produced echo  hit  vstronly to  Indra’s hand wrist.Harichandana is one of trees of heaven. 

 

60) s Indra was in despair as his bow rope was cut. He became more jealoust about Raghu. Throwing away bow, he lifted a weapon which  is used to kill great valients.s This weapon was vajrayudha  which was used to cut  wings of hill . It was having brightness  of light  which was behing head of great people.

 

 61)On chest of Raghu hits of Vajrayudha  happened. Raghu fell on ground. Then his soldiers  shed tears. Within closing opening eyes,  he recovered  and sat up  soldiers felt very happy.

 

62) on seing much Indra (who killed vrutthra)and for long time standing opposite, giving suitable value to weapons, shined his valience. All of them praised Raghu. Great valient Indra also  praised  Raghu.

 

63) Apart from you nobody  nobody tolerated  my vajrayudha. Even hills also cou;ld not tolerate  power in weapon. I like your power very much. Apart from horse what other you desire from me like this   indra sasked directly. That means though Indra praised Raghu  how ever much  by giving horse he was not willing  Raghu becoming shathakrathu.

 

64) emperor’s son Raghu  removing out golden arrow from  arrow box(batthalike) half  whe he was about to use  upon indra ,indra’s words ,without tremoving  arrow fully from batthalike(arrow box)s,stroking golen feathers of arrow  to indra who nis king of gods,  told favourable  sweet words.

 

65)sHey,lord, if you think horse is not fit for release  my woeshipable father doing so much of  sacrifices(yagas,yajnas),dedicating offer(sacrifice)  as he has become holy, to him let fruit of this yaga(sacrifice ) be got according to scriptures. When sacrifice is completed the fruit which is got then  let it be got now only.

Raghu is not asking to return the horse. But he ias asking fru.sit of yaga(sacrifice

 

66)indra who is world lord, kindly  send your people near king. It is impossible to meet king  who has taken initiation(Deeksha,consecration). Let my father Know all through your reporters only.

 

67)  Indra who had given  promise  to Raghu,s with his charioteer   ‘mathali’

Returned as he came. Sudakshine’s son Raghu returned to yaga  hall.

 

68)Indra’s reporters  informed all  what happened to diilipa. Stroking body of Raghu on wound, seing wound formed by vajrayudha of Indra,,seing son who has wared with Indra  became very much happy(celebrated).

 

69) to dilipa who had completed  99 ashwamedha yagas 99 sacrifices)  those became steps of  rising to heaven. The fruit of these ashwamedha yagas   be got by him .At the end of his life , let him get heaven. That itself is fruit got by him.

 

70)after completion of all these, Dilipa having dispassion), to his som\n Raghu, signs of empire ,state signs(symbols)  by giving  white umbrellas  excetras , with wife  undertook vanaprastha (forest living). This is custom of Ikashwaku Family.

Sarga 4:

1)     After getting state from his father dilipa, Raghu emperor,  enlighted much and shined. Added with thejas(brightness) given by sun, fire at night  time shines well as though.king dilipa has become old. His son Raghu is also msatured now.

 

2)After Dilipa   seing Raghu sitting on throne, now only burning with jealousy , in heart of remaining kings, flame fire started yo burn. Apart from that,  within a short time, thar rsaghu became famous also.  Sat in throne securedly.

 

3)state citizens9people) and  their children have become witness  witness to development  of Raghu.  On seing his recant flag  Mark(dhvaja pathake) flying, they have become very happy. People are filling up view of  procession of elephant ambari  on which Raghu was going.

 

4) As elephant has special kind of  gait( walking style), it has got character of doing many works at one time. In the same way Raghu king  took conrol of enemies  his father;s and his enemies.

 

5)Lakshmi is  supremely holy.This whole world announces.  All will serve such Lakshmi. But here in unseen form(invisible form),holding   on Raghu  throne mark white umbrella  is serving Raghu. The umbrella here is lotus flower  umbrella.

 

6) Saraswathi devi who is lordess of education, who praise repeatedly, she always by remaing by  their  side  gives fearlessness(Abhaya).

Usually where there is Lakshmi there will be no  saraswathi.This is Custom. Here  responding to prayer done by Raghu Lakshmi and Saraswathi  are together by side of Raghu only  and protect him. These  words are not exaggeration. Raghu mis suitable for grace of Saraswathi.

 

7) Though Manu and other kings have experienced(enjoyed) this earth,Raghu king was not belonging to  any of these kings. On part of Raghu  earth is like  also a lass only. Raghu was getting all kinds of  grains treasures  in plenty.vasunhara  (earth) in  poetry eworld  is emperor’s wife.

 

8)he was fit for appreciation  by people  in giving punishment also.how it means is air blowing from south  is neither hot nor cold.In Sanskrit poems to describe this  Malaya marutha(mountain wind)  when passes thrugh sandal  trees  air added with fragrance  will be pleasant to mind.

 

9)Because of his more virtues  Raghu informed his people  to have less desires regarding his father. This poet has informed through similies. When there are many mango fruits in one tree  in matter of flowers  which were present before fruits  there will be no much enthusiasm.

Mango tree is called  one of five arrows of manmatha(madan).  Mango tree is symbol of lovers.  On seing it lovers  want to unite.number of fruits depends upon number of flowers present before. When there are more fruits  people will not bother about flowers.It’s true meaning is  Dilipa’s time ias about to complete.  Now this Rghu’s period. Let people think more abut Raghu.This is  feeling of poet.

 

10) Those who are experienced  in politics, though inform about  truth and untruth these two matters, kind had choosen  truth path only.he was not treading untruth path.ss

 

11) when Raghu started ruling of  earth(earth system), then even panchabhuthas(five great elements) also  got highness. All were found to be new.after Raghu took over ruling  all things became attractive. All five elements appeared new9earth,water,thejas(fire),air,and sky).

 

12)how moon by power of moon light,sun by his burning (heating)power

In the same way Raghu  making his people happy, was king in true meaning.therefore he was called ‘rajn’. By raja rajan has has become. This is for kavyalankara(ornaments of poetry).

 

13) eyes have extended upto ears.This  sign of beauty. Though Raghu was beautiful(handsome)  all matters( all causes and their duties) he was seing  according to scriptures.

 

14) All state which  he got,making all securities  as he had rooted in state strongly, ,without much labour, he was doing ruling. Now with desire of getting new state   he was waiting for summer. In summar only lotuses blossom. Lotus means another rajyalakshmi.

 Labdha Prashamanam is told in economics. Iyt means new empire.

 

15)kings unpreventable ability,skill, boldness, there are boiling(spilling) on one side. On another side is intolerable  sun light. Both these have filled  everywhere  in all directions  simultaneously. Rainy season has completed .withou  clouds and lightnings  in all dirctions all roads are  clear(nirala). Poet  has described in ten shlokas(stanzas).  He mind was ready to go for dandayathre (candidature) in sharadruthu.

 

 16)In rainy season  appearing rain bow. Rain bow is removed by closure of rainy season. The  bow  which ragu had kept for maintainance of people’s favour, removed out to to go to dandayathre ( candidature) on enemies. Indra does favourable works of people  by pouring rain. Raghu by destroying enemies  is protecting favour of people. He has removed out  jaithra cow  for protection of people.  

 

Once if indra  pours rain and takes rest, Raghu takes rest after  destroying(hitting)  enemies. Like this one after another use  bow.

 

17)summer season,having  lotus like umbrella ,when casa(kasa) flower  bud blossoms  it appears like fan(chamara). Both these are compared to Raghu a little. But this does not  shine to Raghu.

 

Gods will be having  lotus form  chamara(fan). They are kamarupies. This does not match with  sgine of Raghu. Raghu also is having lotus like umbrella  and kasa flowers  white chamara(fan). Sharath season  to some extent resembles  raghu. Raghu’s brightness treasure  appears.(Sharath vilasath) vilasath means to shine.

 

18) raghu’s beautiful face  and Indra’s clean brightness  both of these  appear equal  love to lookers.

Though one is having good or bad in heart, any one who has eyes, as soon as seing raghu’s face  will have celebration joy. Moon of Sharath season   to be seen out of  clouds is view to be viewd

 

19) raghu’s treasure form  was spread in group of swans,in group of stars, and in lotuses in sea.raghu’s fame had spread everywhere. Raghu’s defectless fame was cause of this.

 

20) paddy wetfield(gadde)  at the tip of  bond(badu)  put,in sugarcane shadow, lasses were sitting ,to protect paddy crop,  in a flok way(janapada)  from childhood of  raghu king to  this  age  were singing how Raghu became famous. In childhood only Raghu fought with Indra. Like this all are happy  inhis rule.

 

21) By birth of Agasthya who took birth in kamandalu ,by his fame  dirty water became clean,,in the same way, by spread of Raghu’s fame, in heart of enemies  due to fear of defeat  their mind became very much upset.

 

At the end of rainy season, force of rain decreases. At this situation in sky, semen of Mithra and varuna who saw her, came and fell in kamandalu.There by birth of Agasthya took place.

 

 While Agasthya came towards south he had strictly ordered  Vindhya mountain to not grow. But he never returned. Therefore growh of Vindhya stoped there only. Otherwise it would have grown  across path of sun.

 

22) intoxicated bulls  to ply in bank of river is their habit. To oxes now agricultural works have finished. Free food is got for eating.s No works to be done. They pass time by playing on banks of river. This is play for oxes also. Here Raghu is alao in  rushing to fort of enemies  he is in play of destroying them. Elephants are also fighting  fearfully  with enemy army.

 

23)  sapthavarna tree flowers  getting excited by  fragrance ,raghu’s elephants As opposite to fragrance of these flowers, spread their intoxication in all eight directions.s It means, through seven parts of their body, spread intoxication.

 

24) Due to drying up of  path  because of reduction of river flood, was easy without any obstructions.

Sharath season was  attractive to Raghu for  undertaking  jaithra yathra. This Raghu had thought previously. To win other states  and to join them in their state  was jaithra yathre.

 

25)In nirajana program to horses,  final flame  turned towards right side of Raghu. To Raghu dedicated by own hands  nirajana  in flame form indicated victory.

If fire turns towards  rightside  it indicates good. Nirajana means nirasya -water juice-protecting ,ajana means to sprinkle.ss at the beginning of jaithra yathra for protection of horses and elephants  this nirajana is done.

 

26) Doing sufficient arrangements  for protection of  fort  and capital ,remembering luck god, Raghu started  with his six kinds of  armyVijaya yathre(  victory journey) to capture  surrounding states. Mula means capital.  Psathyantha means  border and fort of two states. According to economics king should  reserve his 1|3 or1|4th of army  to above work (manu.7  184-186)

 

27) elder mutthaides  blessing king on his head, thrown corns .poet compare this with  both gods and demons making mandara mountain  as churning stick,making Vasuki as  rope, for sake of Amrutha  churned milk ocean. Here  white hairs of mutthaides with  to milk ocean waves, white corns to  white [articles of milk , and Raghu is compared with Vishnu.

 

28) Raghu is called Indra or another king called  Indra.  As mark flag of Raghu was  flying in east direction,  from east direvction only  started  Digvijaya(victory).s indra is called fire also here.

 

29) As chariots,elephants,horses of army, were running  dense and  like black cloud as dust perticles were rising, filled sky.  This poet says sky appeared  like dust colour or like eart  appeared.  Sky appeared as earth. Thjis is called yugma.

 

30) In front  valience of raghu,behind   noise (upset) of army,  and dense dust,  and chariot’s horses and elephants excetra  as chathurvyuha  moved equally.Army is divided into four part usually. Chariot,horses,elephants  and foot soldiers(kalalu).along with these  continuous nagari(drums)  Sounds   produced shakings in chests of armies.here speciality is isn army is  there were 729 chariots, 729 elephants,2187 horses ,3645 foot soldiers.

 

31) Raghu with the help of special instruments  which he had brought with his army,by his technology, made desert into waterful. By building bridges to flowing rivers  temporarily ,to cross easily . forests were cut  to cross them easily  which were obstructive.It was converted into plane.  Raghu had to cross  desert and forests in his journey. By using techniual instruments ans staff ,he made water to spill in desert. His arrangement was so good.His sarmy only was having those who were experienced and expertise in these fields.

 

32)Raghu made his great army to move forward  towards east sea. This poet has compared  as though  Ganga flowing from jate of shiva, and bhagiratha  who made it to run towards  beast.

Here east sea means bangalakolli.  The news of  sagara prince  cursed by kapila is told  here. Bhagiratha was successful in bringing down  ganga by penance from  heaven to protect his ancesters.  Ganga who  came from heaven first fell on  head of shiva.  Because no other gods were able to tolerate force of Ganga. Later she followd bhagiratha  where chithabhasma (deadbody ash) Of sagara’s 60,000 sons  was. Later  started to  flow towards  east sea.(bhagiratha was first to make  ganga to flow  towards east).  Thoigh Raghu had undertaken dandatathra for first time, he killed enemies for the sake of  world welfare.

 

33) As all the obstucles were solved  which were there for army of Raghu  path was easy.  Defeating  kings who came  to rob treasure of army ,making them to get down from throne, their enthusiasm was broken into pieces.  How it means is  like elephants  pulling out fruit filled trees  along with roots.They hit enemies  in many ways.

 

34) Raghu winning many states with  snake speed(nagalota),,in this way winning all, came to  bank(shore) of black sea  passing through dense forest with  palm(thale) trees.

 

35)rsaghu king to those who don’t bend to him, by his strength   pulling out with root  and throwing  poet gives a beautiful similie. In water running with force  id a bamboo is  kept it will bend  to that forceful water if a tree comes across, it will throw that tree along with root.

Here ‘Suhma’ without opposing Raghu who is strong king, to surrender himself by himself. Raghu hits only those who are not humble. Thjose who are humble he will save.

 

36)Like  this Raghu winning  states  went to vanga country. Vanga king had  arraged  everything to make raghu’s army to recede back.Vangaraja’s people were experts in  in constructing  water moving(jalagami)  ships. Therefore they had strong  sea army and had fixed  victory pillar(bvijaya sthambha) here and there.in that victory pillar  vangas have carved previous wars which they had faced, which which kings they had won, excetra details. On seing vthese let enemy army fear and become surrendered.Thia was their main intention.Vanga state is nothing but present east Bengal.

 

 37)first Raghu made vanga king to get down from throne  by winning in war.   But  defeated vangaraja   as he fell at  lotus feet of Raghu with humbleness, Raghu excused him returned throne to him only. Due to human charecters of Raghu  vanga king  gave valuable gifts,,ornaments and coins ,’kalamu’ named  rice mill  gave to Raghu and did namaskarams to his lotus feet. Stll today also  Bengal is rice growing state.s

 

 38)Raghu’s army by building bridge  to kapila river, along with army,horses,elephants, crossing river under guidance of uthkala king  went towards kalinga state.

Uthkala king did not give any trouble  to Raghu(on seing failure of vanga king).Helping Raghu in all ways  he showd path to kalinga state.ss

 

39) Raghu like controlling thick skinned elephant  by ankusha(goad), by his war skill   made great failure to Mahendra who is king of hills.   

Mahendra hill is in between  Mahanadi and godavar river. It is identified in  east mountain lines usually. Is is on of seven 7 kula mountains. Raghu’s army won  Mahendra mountain army  and gave watning bell to kalingas.

 

40)In kaling army number of elephants were more.  He attacked raghu’s army. Raghu’s army using  tools to throw big big stones  after winning kalingas of hills ,lsater they  started war on earth(land). 41) Rain of steel  arrows thrown   by kapila family, kakuthstha raghu’s soldiers  obstructed and got victory.raghu is from kakuthsa  family. On who nhas sit on  swelling of  back (bennu gudde,dubba)  of ox is kakuthsa.ss purunjayaking had won  in favour of gods against  demons. He fought in war by sitting on swlling on back of ox.

 

42)raghu’s soldiers constructed  drinks stage(pana katte).In  vilya 9betel leaves) donne  they drank tender coconuts. Success of enemies  what they drank  like this, Raghu’s spldiers drank. This is poets descrption.Raghu’s soldiers after winning over  kalinga soldiers  for victory celebration  drank tender coconut for joy.

 

43) Raghu who is dharma maintainer   carrired away  royal grandeiurs of  Mahendra. Raghu  first undertook contro of  Mahendra  and then released. But he did not take his land.Accrding to koutilya there are three kinds of  taking things under control.they are dharma,greed(lobha)  and winning ver demons.

Dharma Vijaya: here winner king will not do any loss to defeating king.He will not take either state nor  wealth.

Lobha vijayin: winner will take both from defeated kimg.

Asuri Vijayan: Here king kills enemy king.and aquires both state and wealth.

 

44) Raghu need not go in search of victory Lakshmi(Vijayalakshmi). It means he is getting victory  everywhere easily and moving forward. Areca trees  on the shore of sea have become full of fruit.  Here in southj only Agasthya maha muni was living.ssas Raghu got victory others did not get.  

 

45)s In cauvery river soldiers enjoyed.  Ksavery river water was haing  elephant’s intoxicated  sandal fragrance .sea is called husband of rivers.  When elephants were freely  enjoying sin kavery river, there fragrant smell mixing with kavery  river water, mixing  sea’s wife kavery river water,so as to doubt, soldiers also willfully  took bath in kavery.

 

46)king travelled with his army for long distance came to field belonging to Malaya Mountain. Present there only in pepper gardens  forests :harika’ named birds were flying.’jigishu’is a strong king who wants to win and aquire  other states.

Malaya mountain is one among kula mountains.  It is Identfied with nilagiri  mountaoins or western ghat’s  south part.It is known for sandal and pepper.In Sanskrit literature  Malaya mountain is considered  in Sanskrit literature as symbol of love.Here Harika named birds were  in dslope of hill  bwere flying with fear on seing  camped soldiers in more number.

 

47)Whlie horses were running  produced cardamum garden’s fragrance,along with their dust spreading ,having the same fragrance  to bhru Madhya(Space between two eyte brows of elephant) and  hit.At base of Malaya mountain plenty of cardamum is grown.As smell of cardamum was coming in bhru Madhya  poet says  cardamum of elephant also  ,they belong to one group.

 

48)Here method in which elephants are tied is described. Iron chain tied elephant’s neck  can be torn by their strength.But  in sandal tree done by snakes  inside chain  passng iron rod  to sandal tree  tied elephant’s leg chain can’t be cut.

 

49)In south direction  part  Sun light is reducing.  In that part pandya kings  can’t get Raghu’s  fame and power.

In dakshinayana  sun moves towards south direction. Then day decreases and  night increases.If  in soth dirction  Sun reduces his sun light,then Raghu becomes more valient.Pandya kings will get easily surrendered  to Raghu.

Pandya  country had extended from  Kavery to bhsaratha ocean(hindu maha sagara?).Their capital was probably nagapattana. It includes Malaya mountain and  Thamraparani(tosay thambravari). Thambraparani river is famous for pearls.

 

50)They did namaskarams to feet of Raghu and gave  special pearls which they had collected ,which are available at the joining place of Thamraparani and sea.

 

51-52)In Malaya mountain  at the base of ‘dar dura’ mountains   Raghu saw sandal spreading  and  experienced beauty till his heart got satisfied. Two hills in that area -describing as though two breasts s,from them Sandal rasa,as though pouring towards them, and whpse fame  is s[preading without obstructions, ,left side of Sahya mountain  is hit by sea.It appears as though clothless  earth’s nithamba(hip or waist).South part is compared to a female heres.

Her two breasts are Malaya and sahya mountains.sahya mountain is hip of  that female. Dardur western ghats south part ,is border of  south and east Mysuru.sahya is named as western ghats  now.According to epics sahya mountain was very near to sea.parashurama who had destroyed kshathriyas  21 times and gave whole earth to do penance to kashyapa.he also ordered  ordered sea  to recede back  from sahya  mountain.In this was  the extra more land which parashurama got is called koknkana  or aparantha.Sahya mountain is one among kula mountains.s

 

53) Raghu by spreading his army everywhere prepared to  undertake western ghats region.sea which was pushed by parashurama was  found as though attached to sahya.Raghu had to pass through kerala state. There was no any kind of opposition from kerala kings. Raghu’s goal was to defeat king of Aparantha(Konkana). His army had completely covered  sahya and ocean. Sahya was found to be on shore of sea only. His army appeared like second ocean. Rama means here parashurama.aparantha means  king of western konkan.

This indicates force of army of Raghu. Due to wind shaking big trees in forestsBy walk of soldiers and by walk of horses is produced.Malabar country is  is famous for thale(palm) trees.

 

57)To bees always attraction of flower fragrance.s after drinking nector (makaranda) of one flower it will attracted towards another flower.This is natural.here bees after joining  nectar of punnaga fragranceful elephant  pride (intoxication) thinking as flower fell on bhrumadhya(space between two eye brows). 58)Parashurama   praying sea  to allow path  sea allowd path to parashurama.This is epic story. But here sea has allowd path to Raghu. By reason of aparantha  this stanza indicates  Raghu was better than parashurama.  In matter of parashurama  responding to his prayer  sea king allod  little psath.But Raghu made sea to allow path  with compulsion. Sea accepted capacity of Raghu and  aparantha king, informed gratitude  to Dilipa kinf through seagodess. To tell directly  Aparantha king surrendered  to  Raghu ans accepted him as his sanrat(emperor).

 

59) Raghu making thrikuta hill  only as victory pillar(Vijaya sthambha) On it  made to write   descriptions with elephant’s ivory (dantha).

Raghu to record his victory  did not any special trial  to fix victory pillar. Thrikuta mountain itself has sttod as witness to victory of Raghu.  His elephants while wandering freely,  on rocks and trees did few marks. As those marks  would remain without fading for many years, people  could not forget this vijayothsava(victory celebration)  easily.There was no fear of  forgetting that.

Thrikuta mountain has three peaks.

 

60) later to capture parasikas Raghu selected land path. There was killing of outer enemies.Now internal enemies  senses by truth knowledge , to conquer(undertake)  Raghu desired.

 

Though it was long Raghu selected earth path only  to win parasikas.parasikas were ancient  persians. At much distance from  Bharatha  nobody was residing. Thathva jnana means Athmajnana. Athmajnana can be only by long oracyice. All Indian philosophers accept  liberation is by knowledge only. To know athma indriyas(senses) are enemies.  These senses will not allow   mind to concentrate  on athma.Senses are carved outside of body.  They should be brought  under control   by practice(sadhana) only.othersise they will become mad horses. Therefore  first duty of mumukshu(liberation desirer) is  sense control.

 

61)muslim women[due to drinking of grape juice’,filled with goog muscles lotus like face was not acceptable to Raghu. Because like cloud appearing in sky,.that means at morning time, sun rays  when fall on lotus flowers like red petals in it  appearing.

 

Here ‘mada’ is used as madakarya. Red shining cheeks are due to  drinking of grape juice.’akala jaladodaya’ means  untimely rain.’yavani’means parasika women.

 

 62)army with western country was very strong. There was severe between  them and Raghu’s army. Dust rised in war field completely covering them ,they were not appearing to raghu’s army. But by horns(kombu,kahales)  their place was firmly identified. Though they were not seen to eye, due sound which they were producing by horns  raghu’s soldiers  shooted  arrow rains.

 

What was cause for power of  parasika army was, famous baluchisthan horses which they were using.

 

63) He  beard wearers  by cutting with long bhalles(sharp weapons)  easily cut and spread. This is compared  to bees  with honey nest.here bald head is compared with  noney nest and  beareds and mustaches to  black bees.

 

64) Remaining soldiers removing their helmets, politely by doing namaskarams to feet of Raghu  requested protection.Removal of helmet is symbol of Sharanagathi.  In greeks it is  tradition.

Baluchisthana and  and bharatha border are famous for grapes crop.

Kamboja country is  is from north to west  of Himalaya  on the way to Hindukul mountains.

Wealth joined Raghu like river joining sea.

Raghu thinking  that it is difficult to carry elephants,horses,chariots, to hill, without carrying all his army with him, carried only a [part of it. First a part of army was carried ,later remaining army was carried.

 

72)Raghu’s army moving in middle of forest near by lions did not note.lions had no anykind of  fear or wonder. They were as usual as though nothing has happened. They did not leave rest house also. But bending  neck a little with self confidence  emitting with pride, without fear .They were worryless  about what was happening there. Raghu was a soldier by himself and appreciated  boldness of lions.

 

73) due to blowing air, a kind of special trees (grown in north India), were producing sound. Thia was like flute’s tone(sound,voice). From Ganga river  water particles  were sprinkled upon army coolly.marmara means sound of dry leaves.It was blowing slowly,coolly,melodiously.

  

74) Soldiers  in shadow of ‘nameru ‘tree  spread stones got rest. On those stones  previously  kasthuris mrugas (animals)  were taking rest in that place.  By their navel fragrance had spread  in those places. As soldiers were taking rest there only, they experienced  kasthuri smell.

 

75) elephans tied to ‘sarala’tree ,due to tied shining chain, at night time, on army  was emitting shining light, was like  endless lamp. ‘sarala’tree  is later called devadaru tree in next stanza.

 

76)Army which had left  king and come,  saw branches which were cut inDevadaru tree. Due to rubbing of ropes on tree there were marks  on trees which were showing strength of animals.Seing this mark kirathas(hunters) came to know height of animals.According amara(kosha)  kiratha,shabara, and pulindas  belong to mleccha caste.

 

77) soldiers on Raghu’s side, keeping goal, special kind of Iron weapon, Threw upon mountain side army. Army on mountain side  through kavane(chater pillar?...) hitting to Iron weapons of Raghu  fire was appearing.  Previous  tribal psople were  experts in leaving kavane stone. Narayana tells khsepaniya  as kunthavishesha.

 

78) Raghu  using arrows on tribal people of hilly region, stopped all celebrations of that tribal people. Raghu made kinnaras to sing  about his victory.

Tribal people of scheduled caste(tribe?) community. They  reside  in path of north and east part,(east Nepal), from simla to Narang   at himalaya base(belt). In mahabharatha these people are divided into  7 groups.

 

79) defeated prarvatharaja (mountain king)  to give to Raghu brought valuable gifts. Now Himalaya found  power abilities of  Raghu and parvatharaja  directly as witness.

 

80) Raghu establishing  non shakable  victory fame, startred to get down. Defeat of mountain kings  was more than the insult which was caused by lifting up of mountain byRavana.

Raghu was not willing to stay  in mountains  for long time  and to insult more.now onlky sufficient insult has been done by Raghu.to attack kailasa mountain  is not suitable for  his prestige .This is thought  of poulasthya Ravana.

 

Ssonce wnen Ravana was  moving in kailasa mountain  inpushpaka aeroplane,  he was obstructed by Nandini.

 Abgry Ravana  onlifting up whole mountain ,shiva by his  small  figure of left leg, holding it  brought to original condition. By this Ravana was caught in dilemma. To get relieved also he has to pyay Shiva only.

 

81)Thirnalouhithye is past name of brahmaputhra river.  Raghu crossed river  and vreentered  bharatha.

As Raghu’s elwphants were tied  to trees  on pulling by elephants, as trees shook,  king of that state  saw army of Raghu and shook.

 

82) he could not tolerate  dust produced by chariot path of Raghu.  That dust has concealed sun rays.  It was non rainy season.  Arny which is going in front is not seen due to dust.  But in army there were flags flying  here and there, it was seen thst army is coming.soldiers were not seen by Raghu due to dust.

 

83) King of kamarupa country  are waiting for arrival of Raghu. Raghu had crossed Indra in  valience and skill. Bhrumadhya of raghu’s elephants were broken  and from that pride rasa(madarasa) was flowing. With help of these elephants  Raghu faced other enemies.kamarupa is is district in north of  Himalaya.

 

84 like adhidevathe to golden throne of Raghu raghu’s shining  lotus feet kamarupa king  washed with diamond(vajravaidhutyas. Kamarupa king did padapuja(feet worship  to king Raghu. In feet worship instead of  flowers  he used vajravakdhuryas.

 

85) in this way winning all dirctions, Raghu who undertook, went towards to his capital with success.  While going  to kings there   umbella mark gave dust umbrella.

All kings who were defeated by Raghu  lost right of using  umbrella. Therefore their head was chathrashunya(umbrellaless). Raghu’s empire is now ekathapathra.

 

86) Raghu did vishvajith yaga(sacrifice)  in which sarvadakshina was given.s

In this he gave all as dakshine. Let good happen to all like this he donsated to  all people  for their good(shubha). For this poet has given good similie.  He has compared Raghu to clouds.  Clouds taking all water from earth,  absorbing all water,  there only by rain  fall for developmemt of people  pour rains. These clouds have no selfishness.  To help others only they pour rain.  Therefore Raghu  gave what he had earned  for helping others only as donation. He is not selfish.helper to others.

 

87)  After completion of this vishwajith  yaga(sacrifice) of long duration,  kakuthsatha  family members ,friends, samantha kings,ordered  defeated kings  to retun to their their capitals. He gave chance  to defeated enemies  to return to their wives  whon they had left since long duration by  honouring  with gifts.ssThis raghu’s courtesy was admired  by all.

 

88) at the end of function,  ministers who had come for yaga9sacrufice),,in function of sending off dufferent  countries kings,  put garland to all.  They all did namaskarams to raghu’s feet one by one.  All are thinking to see namaskarams like this  itself is their luck. When they were doing namaskarams  flowers of garland which they had worn,honey these tickling on feet of Raghu   made tp appear  marks of umbrella and fans. At end  on fingures of feet of Raghu   flower pollens  and honey  had made to appear mixed yellow white colour .

SARGA 5:

1)when king had donated all in vishwajith yaga and was in empty hands,at this situation  varathanthu muni’s disciple  kouthsa  learning education from guru ,in order to give gurudakshine to him, to beg money came to Raghu king.

 

2)     King who was character treasure,,bright by victory,,foremost in  guest hospitality  was previously giving arghya in silver and gold vessels. As he had donated all in vishwajith yaga(sacrifice)  as an empty king is now  guest who is shining.(arghya means valuable, anarghya means  valueless,invaluable , that means having high value).

Kouthsa is guest. both kouthsa and raghu are honourable.

 

3)Scholar (scriptures knower), who is high among  athmabhimanies  and having high duty sense Raghu to kouthsa   gave peeta excetras, arghya excetras. With rules and rituals  worshiped .joining both hands  did namaskarams and told.

 

4)Hey kouthsa, High among manthradristara(manthra visionary) Rushies  your guru varathanthu maharshi  is he safe? You have got complete jnana treasure(bhandara)  by him.As people get chaithanya(spirit) from Sun.

 

5) penance of maharshjies is of three kinds  by  Body, mind, speech.s By this kind of penance  rushies winning  body speech mind, will get  much power. This king of penance  done by rushies is not acceptable  to indra.  Therefore he obstructs penances of Rushies.

He used to send apsaras to break their oenances. Sometimes few demons were also giving troubles.they used to put blood and flesh  in yajna pot(kunda)  and obstruct. At those situations penanciers were  cursing bemons who came across. By giving curse there was loss of  lot their penance energy was wasting.So they used to curse only in selective cases.

 

6)As there were no  natural  disasters like  thunder,thunderbolt,flood excetra  there trees were not falling.  As Ashrama  people  were giving protection  to those trees  looking after like children.

 

7)Rushies were  enjoying by seing  new born deers  like their own children. By giving separate treatment to mother deer, to kid deers  by giving grass and leaves by themse;ves, by making those to lay down on their thighs, were protecting  by snake excetra insects and creatures.

 

Rushies plucking out Darbhes needed for homa havanas(sacrifices)  with love, they were taking care to see that to them also there was no anger upon munies.

 

8)There was no shortage of water for pure water.  By this pure water only rushies were finishing morning rituals.  By bogase(Anjali,joined palms) were giving tharpanas. 1|6 part grains which they had grown they were giving to king as taxes.kings staff used to come and collect that. Rushies and saints were also paying taxws.It was unavoidable.

King had arranged for pure water to not become impure  by anybody and protecting from crocodi;es.

 

9) For body protection of people  available in forest’neevara grains’ apart  from using for thei own use they used to keep  grains  as reserve  for treatment of guests.These neevara grins cattles will not waste.

At the time of meals  before meals one should give baliharana to god. Then has to wait for few minutes for arrival of any guests.If anybody comes first they should be served meals  then master of the house had to eat ;later.

 

Raghu enquired kouthsa  in this order 1) about guru 2)about penance 3) about trees plants deers of Ashrama 4) rushies yajna yaga (sacrifices) excatra  and any financial helps and any difficulties about yajnas.5)At end about kouthsa and his joys.

 

10)Is there permission of your guru to keep leg in householdership(gruhasthashrama)?Have you learnt well from guru in brahmacharya(celibacy)?. Now accepting second ashrama of life now time has come to  help others.These words Raghu tells to kouthsa.Brahhmacharya(celibacy),householdership(gruhastha),vanaprastha(to lead simple life in forest,sanyasa(to leave loukika  life completely).These are fout stages of human life.

 

11)I am not satisfied with your arrival.I am anxious to follow your order.Did your guruvarya varathanthu muni has sent you or you have come by yourself  to honour me.

Probably Kouthsa might have  come with  some intention  to see me from distant forest. If he had sent me words I would have gone   and might have done guru’s work.

 

12) on hearing better words   of Raghu though desire buded out to kouthsa,on seing Raghu giving arghya in soil vessel ,thought  that  Raghu has given up (donated) all in vishvajith sacrifice(yajna) and is in empty hands and his desire may not get fulfilled. At that time it was not suitable to expect any help from Raghu.

 

13)Hey Raghu emperor,When there is religious king like you  from where will difficulties come to people?when Sun is  enlighting brightly  how can dark cover covereye vision?

 

14)  To gentleman s,to prominent people  to give more respect is your hereditary  character.You are very  lucky and courteseous person in your famil.But the time which I have come is not proper.I have come late.If his desires are not fulfilled  king can’t be blamed. As he has come late he should blame himself.Like coming late in car festival(jathre).

 

15)o king of people, you have donated all and is standing by mere body.this is like  neevara tree ffrom which neevara grains have been taken from tree leaving only empty branches.as kouthsa has spent all his life in forest , this example of neevara tree is proper.

 

16) Though you are emperor by donating all in yajna you have become moneyless(nirdhana). This is suitable also. Because through gods and pithrus(fathers)  drinking brightness of moon,though moon has been made kalarahitha(kalaless,defectless)  it is appreciable. This is more admirable  than previous moon light.

Kouthsa felt proud of renunciation of Raghu. To uphold dharma Raghu had donated all.It is fameful to him. Moon has lost his thejas*brightness ) by his renunciation only. As moonhas donated his thejas to  gods and pithrus (fathers) he has become more brightful.s

 

17)As I have no other work, in order to give gurudakshine(remuneration to guru)  I am trying to get others help. Let good happen to you.Even chathakas(birds) also  don’t welcome summer clouds which have lost  water part(fraction).

Chathaka birds drink direct water coming from rain.they won’t drink any collected water.in the same way  did not trouble Raghu through prayer.

 

18)sking did not allow disciple of  maharshi to go.hey kouthsa how much you have to give to your guru?what to give and how much to give  like this Raghu enquired kouthsa.

 

19)To egoless(nirahankaa) Raghu  who had completed yajnas according to scriptures, kouthsa informed current matter.to brahmachari who is leading pure life(naistika brahmacharya) .

 

20)after lerning fourteen educations from guru,,when I asked varathanthu guru about gurudakshine you be firm.you have been doing my service since long time.Which is higher dakshine than guru’s service.kouthsa is sincere disciple.He completed all educations through guru.at the time of leaving, to carve into a beautiful statue rock like me, how much difficulty he might have taken .He asked guru to give how much Dakshina.guru told I have liked your devotion and interest ,sincerity . These are gurudakshines to be given.  Nothing else he tells.

 

21)when I compelled guru again again ,he without paying attention to my financial conditions  asked to give me  fourteen crores.

 

Guru has taught me education. By compelling guru to take gurudakshine he has shown his greatmss. But guru has held this matter tightly.As guru got angry due to compulsion by kouthsa  and asked to give fourteen crores  gold coins ,that is one crore to each  of 14  educations.

 

22)I am in this kind of situation. Now though  you are  using soil vessels for worship  only loed(prabhu) award(name) has remained.In this situation I should not have come for  asking such huge amount of money. If it were ordinary  amount he would not have hesitated to  compel for amount.

 

23)kouthsa on telling like this,dvijsa(brahmana) specially described in vedas , lod to world, shining like moon,away from sinful karmas ,,who has controlled senses organs, Raghu to told to kouthsa once again.

 

Raghu is not onlt earth lord but he is world lord.If he were not able to get money from earth he would have brought from heaven also.

 

24)He is asking money for guru.for having learnt all educations from him.now if I won’t give money he will go to others. Then it will be like throwing  mud to my name.this is not right.

Kouthsa is not ordinary begger. He is brahmachari who has completed his veda education. He is not asking for his own.somehow I can’t refuse request  of kouthsa for any reason.

 

25)worshipable kouthsa maharshi,you reside in my  pure agnishale (fire  hall)  for two three days  like ‘fourth fire’. Within that time  I will try to achieve  your work.like this he is requesting  ffew days time to fulfil his request.he asks him to stay in yajna hall like fourth fire.(s ”chathurtho Agniriva”)

Three fires are 1)garhapathya (pithru) 2) dakshinagni(mathru) 3) Ahavaniyagni (acharya) Raghu king keeping these three fires in  sacrifice home(yajna shale)  was conducting homa daily. By worship of fire  money is got  scriptures say.

 

26)brahmana kouthsa was very happy. He accepted unexpressed oath of Raghu. Now earth has taken all my wealth.So he wanted to bring  treasure from kubera.it seems his desire may not get fulfilled.  Raghu has promised to help.

Due to sprinkling of manthrified water by vasista Raghu in his chariot Earth,sky,ocean,where ever he wants he can go.poet has compared to cloud which can move anywhere in sky due to wind.this manthrified (manthrisalpatta) water is pure water processed through  manthras ‘atharva veda)  at the time of throne ceremony(pattabhisheka) .on sprinkling on Raghu he was able to move in three worlds freely. This shows power of manthra visionary(manthra dristara) vasista  maharshi.Here Raghu is compared with cloud.cloud can go to sea or remain in sky or move on hills.

 

28)In evening Raghu with firm mind to win over king of kailasa  o his power he slept  in chariot in which he has to go.It that all weapons were kept  which were needed . 

To war over kubera is ordinary matter to Raghu.He does not need much preparation to to win over kubera. He had won Indra.Kubera is ordinary lokapala( world maintainer).Raghu thought it is not suitable  to his prestige(dignity)  to war on kubera.he did not war.

 

29)When Raghu was about to move,at that time treasury officer(koshadhikari)  came and informed that there is golden rain from sky inside treasury house with celebration.kubera thought it is better to  give by himself before journey of Raghu only  poured golden rain.In this was poet has avoided kubera getting defeated by Raghu.(Abhimukhaha=abhigatham mukham  yasya)

 

30)Raghu king all golden rain poured fron kubera .This mass of  gold was appearing like  Sumera mountain which was by side.Sumera mountain is  nothing but meru mountain of gold only.golden rain poured by kubera  was more than gurudakshine(remuneration)  which kouthsa has to give to his guru.

But still Raghu gave all gold to kouthsa only.Because it was all given for kouthsa. Raghu’s renunciation(thyaka) is to be liked.

 

31)On one side who is requesting for donation . Donating Raghu on another side.Kouthsa is not ready to take moe money  even a single coin(rupee)  more than needed for giving gurudakshine. Raghu is not ready to keep extra money  as kubera has poured rain for gurudakshine only.So all gold should belong to kouthsa.This is Raghu’s argument. These two good charecters of both Ayodhya people admired very much.how this problem was finally decided is not known.

 

32)maharshi kouthsa  with supreme joy, on hundreds of camels and horses and came to varathanthu’s ashrama from palace.For making this arrangement  kouthsa did namaskarams to Raghu  by bending back and touching feet.In that way he showd politeness and gave boon to Raghu.s

 

33)sRaghu who had good behavior, for his people  to fulfill their desires  when ever needed  earth used to give  all needed to fulfil desire of Raghu.What wonder is there in this? But due to extraordinary endless power of Raghu heaven only is giving  all what is needed to Raghu.Here ‘vrittha’ means king’s duty.By usage of word ‘yadi’ all kings does not have luck of getting from earth what is needed  for kings.

 

34)You have already got all blessings. Now more blessing to you is repetition only.it is like blessing again again. It is waste only.”how you are resembling your father in the same way  let there be birth of male child resembling you”.

 

35)kouthsa muni blessing to  Raghu came to to his guru Varathanthu muni.here king Raghu”by blessings of kouthsa  son was born to Raghu. How it was means  as though whole creation of world  like getting bright light from  bright sun”.therefore Raghu named his son  as’aja’only .Aja means brahma.

 

36)Brahma muhurtha- brahma in that muhurtha  for a period of 48minutes  will be adhipathi(lord).This muhurtha is called ‘brahmi muhurtha’ and also ‘abhijith muhurtha’.if sun rise happens at 6 AM Brahmi muhurtha will be from morning 11-36 AM to afternoon 12-24. First part of morning is also called ‘Brahma kala’. In brahmi muhurtha veda studies,meditation on parabrahma is high.

Raghu’s wife  in brahmi muhurtha9auspicious time)  delivered a child equal to Karthikeya. therefore father Raghu  named ‘aja’ to his son as he was born in brahmi muhurtha.  Karthikeya is hero of kumara sambhava written by kalidasa.

 

37)Aja was having same form(appearance) resembling father.sasrmstrength of father,his big long arms(ajanubahuthva),,having beauty  was resembling Raghu  without even a little difference.Aja was like enlighting onre lamp from another lamp.the difference is Raghu is grown and child is tender. Therefore Raghu is compared to Pradipa(bright lamp).

 

38) Sri means Dhanalakshmi,dhanya Lakshmi, rajya Lakshmi excetras treasures god. Here Aja getting grace of Sri  is in bouncing youth. To become Yuvaraja(young king)  he is waiting for fathers order.king also has announced aja as his successor(uttharadhikari). Rajyalakshmi(state Lakshmi)  gives chance to young king than old king.

 

39)King Bhoja  according to desire of his sister (ndumathi , send invitation to Raghu through faithful messengers to bring Aja.

King’s voidarbha itself is ‘kathakaishika’. To it’s north  Vindhya mountain and Nsrmada river, ,to south  Godavari,present vidarbha’s one part is kathakaishika state.This state name is derived out of two sons katha and kaishika of ancient king.  In Vidarbha as a sant was pierced and killed by sharp darbhe   he cursed.Ao darbhe will not grow in that state. Therefore only it is Vidarbha.later it was divided into two parts north and south  and was given to two sons.Svayamvara means self selection of groom by the bride.

 

40)Raghu thinking it is suitable  to do relation with  bhoja sent his son aja  along with army  towards Vidarbha.

 

41) In the middle of path  in forest region he camped to take rest.It was having all facilities. It was like camp  arranged for play and recreation  in a garden.He was welcomed on the path.village people gave gifts.he did not feel that he was in middle of forest.He felt as though he was in his own house.

 

42) They camped at  At narmada river bank  for rest as soldiers were tired of journey.There due to  shagow and cool air  river water was as though sprinkling./In cool of nakthamala  tree’soldiers .ced with joy.

 

43)Later  a wild elephant pouring  in temple(kumbhasthala) pouring mada(mada jala,pride water) ,to absorb nector  bees were  covering face of elephant.ss Whe elephant drowned in water, then all bees rising from face of elephant  started to flyon water.sson rising up from water  all pride water(mada jala) was washed out  and became clean.

 

44)Elephant rubbing it’s two ivory teeth  to side of ‘Rakshavath mountain’is playing. Dust of upper layer of  hill is coming out.Rhere blue coloured line is  appearing. Rakshavath  is one among (gondavana line hills) mountains.

When elephant drowned in water,  mada(pride,pride water,mada jala) attached to temple(kumbhasthala)  was washed out.Apart from that  dust attached to Ivory teeth   also went.sIn spite of that  mark which had appeared by  it’s play  remained as it  was.s As a result of rubbing to stone , teeth was injured  entering into depth of teeth, a kind of blue colour  remained on teeth. It did go when  elephant drowned.

 

45)A big elephabt is  cssoming towards Narmada river,  expanding contracting it’s trunk(sondilu) Absorbing spitting (throwing) big big waves  to river only. “this process  poet describes  to door of water  by putting bolt(vchilaka)(  elephant has binded water  so that it will   not go out.”

 

46) Mountain like elephant  bunch   pachi(algae)  grown in groups and groups water mass  Pulling out by it’s chest  later reached bank.  Suddenly  disturbed by that elephant  water mass reached bank.

 

47)High elephant  while drowned in water, mada(intoxication,pride)  mixing with Narmada river elephant became peaceful for a while.No on seing elephants of aja’s army to that elephant  again mada(intoxication,pride ) rised  again.

 

 Single   male elephant (onti salaga)thinking  walking freely mixed with few elephants  thinking with other elephant is below it’s dignity ,other elephants  fearing to it did not mix.(Anekespa or dvipa,as it drinks from both trunk and mouth)

 

48) Badly flowing coming  onpreventable  mada (pride) smell,  like rasa of sapthacchada tree,  it’s mavuthas could not prevent  king side elephants. They ran from there. ‘sapthacchada’ or ‘sapthavarna’ it has very bitter (kahi)  or bad smell  rasa they have emitted.

 

49) On arriva of this wild elephant   armies of human camps,,elephants, horse, excetras  a kind of confudsion was produced. Army elephants escaping from hold of mavutha(elephant rider,care taker) Were running. Horses running with much speed  getting released from bondage of chariot, chariots got tilted  and fell. Soldiers leaving subordination of prana   started to protect  women  who were in army.

 

 

50)Aja was knowing that  king should not kill elephant  through scriptures. It was his desire  tp make to run away the elephant which was rushing towards  camp. He shooted an arrow slowly to temple(kumbhasthala).only elephant which participates in war only should be killed.Therefore he did not use arrow forcefully.  He was intelligent and skilled.He did not undergo emotional excitement.  But he was remembering his duty as a king.  He used special bow called’shankh’for this.

 

51) On touching of that arrow  that wild elephant  leaving it’s elephant body,,as soldiers were seing, in midst of bright prabhamandala (bright system) wore sky going body.

 

52)By it’s unhuman power got kalpavruksha flowers rained on prince. Then Gandharva talking  worn on his vast chst  on his bright pearl garland  ,due brightness of his white teeth  falling, emited light rays fell on king.he told:

 

53) due to curse of mathanga Rushi I had become elephant. I am Gandharva king priyadarshana’s  son Priyamvada.

 

54) As I did sastanga namaskarams to Maharshi  he showd kindness upon me.  Water will be  naturally cool. To get heated it needs sun’s or fire’s  communication. Mathanga rushi was naturally kindful.  But by his roughness  he made rushi to become angry.to Gandharva name ‘priyamvada’ is applicable.  He is friendly,uoen minded,straight talking. He has accepted his roughness directly.

 

55)Due to prayer of Gandharva   pleased mathanga muni  told”ikshvaku family born Aja named pronce when he shoots arrow to your kumbhasthala(temple) , then you will get your previous memory.”

 

56)Myself who had become elephant due to curse of Mathanga muni  I was waiting for your arrival. You relieved me from curse.  If I don’t help you for your help  it will be a waste for me for having my old Gandharva form. The same  arrow he will use against his enemies.This is told in 7th sarga.

 

57)Hey friend Aja, to do more show of power, take ‘sammohana’ Gandharva arrow.s To shoot it and  to get it  in return there are separate manthras.  Speciality is  by  it’s forward rushing  enemy will not die. But victory is got easily.  

 

58)While you were hitting me by arrow also  you were kindful. Now  you don’t think of pushing away my prayer.ss Aja is shying to take gift from me who is his ene,my(who behaved like enemy).This is priyamvada’s meaning.  There is nothing to be shyed in this matter. Aja  due to kindness in heart,  has only done light  hit on me.(as wild elephant should not be killed).   

 

59) Moon like  arrow education expert, prince Aja  honouring words of Priyamvada , and produced by moon  In holy water of Narmada river,  doing achamana  standing facing north,   from curse hit (curse held) Gandharva   learnt shooting and returning arrow.  

 

60) It is not possible to think of  cause of  accidentally got friendship.  One went to chaithraratha region  and another  to Vidarbha region happily.  Chaithraratha belongs to chithraratha who is king of gandharvas. Chaithraratha  is name of Kubera’s garden also.  Curse held Priyamvada  was not sitting simply. He was anxiously waiting for  coming of Aja His meet is predecided(purvanischitha).

 

61)’Kratha kaishika king  knowing news of arrival of Aja  with joy  to see king who is camped out of city,  like ocean with waves garland  , to see moon who is having  spilling(boiling?) waves  came to see king Aja.

On hearing the news rhat aja has come,  joyfully to welcome him  went near aja.now for going near him  and asking surely he will not get angry.

When moon is seen as waves of ocean  spill-like this kalidasa has given very suitable  simili(upame,comparison).

 

62) On knowing  entry of aja into city,  to do grand welcome to him,’king bhoja’ came there by himself and welcomed aja.  While Aja was coming with family relatives in style(pride), to people who had arrived there, came to know aja only is guest for meals of Vidarbha king.

While aja was coming  with all honours  like chathra(umbrella) chamara (fans) ,  king Bhoja was coming  by side like common man.  King Bhoja had exercised due care  in providing all facilities   needed for Aja. Because Aja is representative   emperor Raghu.

 

63)To Aja who is representative of Raghu  officers on king Bhoja’s side,  shown  constructed newly camp of svayamvara guests  had made Bidadi.  Near that room’s  eastern door,  there was water full of thambige(vessel) , it was kept in auspicious place.  This was symbol of holiness also.

 

64)On knowing that my husband is loving some other  female  as wife gets angry,it is described here  poetically.

‘lalama’ means high or thilaka.The feeling here is to ajsa who was in meditation of indumathi only,  did not get sleep for long time. In very huge number  valient prices and others   to marry  bride bead(kanya mani), Indumathi. They have come to svayamvara(self selection of groom by bride).naturally Aja has no hope of getting   Indumathi. To describe it poetically  is compared with  a woman who comes to know that her husband is  loving another woman, she became sleepless.

 

65) As his strong arms were  pressed by long karna kundalas(ear ornaments)  which he was wearing, ,bending body was rolling on blanket.s All these he was knowing. Poet’s sons of aja’s age group  by their singing were  informing  about happening of morning.due to memory of Indumathi he was awakening now and then. Vaithalika is one who informs what nis time(in hours)  through song.s

 

66) hey aja who is high among intllects ,night has passed. Leave bed and rise up. Brahma  has divided into two parts  in  responsibility of ruling earth.sOn one side of noga(yoke) leaving sleep working  yourfather.on another side you have held the ox.

Noga(yoke) is carried by two oxes .one is Raghu and another Aja.  These two oxes carrying noga are looking state rule.  It is not possible for one ox to carry noga.

 

67)aja who is under control of sleep form  lass, that beauty Lakshmi  it telling near moon wahat is in her mind.s that moon also at the time of setting in west, drowning has left brightness equak to that of his face.ss Thjerefore leaving sleep join  this nirashritha (non dependent) Lakshmi.

 

68) To accept this beauty Lakshmi,  at the same time your eye and lotus, both these are same.  Because at this time,  in closed eye delicate eye gombe(pupil)  moving inside eye  is compared with  bee running inside   lotus.

 

69)cool air as though blowing  nature given  fragrance from your mouth. Cool air also by fragrance of flowers  nof flowers which are detaching  from stalk, ,got from those flowers  nature given fragrance ,s carrying like that only, due to Sun rays  then only blossoming lotus flower is falling.

Aruna means morning.Aruna is chatioteer of Sun.Aruna took birth as immatured  in vinuthe.Vinuthe is one of wives of  Kashyapa rushi. Aruna was brother of garuda(eagle).He was not having thighs.

 

70)  fallen on new leaves of red trees, clean pearl particles added was equal to  copper and is shining well. Brightness  from   jaw  teeth  fallen  on  lips playfully

Is shining by smile.

Here snow beads have fallen on tree buded leaves. Due to this, inside drops added with red and white  colours ball is shining like pearl necklace(neck ornament).How was it’s beauty is”due to brightness of jaw teeth  fallen on lower lip  as though lip is emitting smile”like this.

 

71)before rise of bhagava Sun  charioteer aruna  destroys darkness. This is true.Because if there is suitable  servent  to lord there will be no need of undergoing  difficulties.Hey valient, who does war  in front  living in suitable son  your father Raghu has to kill enemies?

 

As Aja has come to majority, It is not justified to old Raghu to do war with enemies.Raghu should be relieved from responsibilities as much as possible. Raghu is also valient, power mine.Raghu is compared with Sun and Aja to Aruna.

 

72)elephants which have completed sleep  by sleeping on both sides, pulling chauns tied to them, are sounding. Army elephants have already awakened from sleep. Their teeth due to communication of  sun’s red colour, are appearing  as though a piece of mountain have fallen . Hill also filled with metal ores  appears as though hill has worn  metal skirt.

 

73)hey lotus like eyed,Aja! In ashwashalas (stables)  made out of cloth, tied in parasi country produced your horses leaving sleep, piece od saindhava salt  are licking by their mouth.

Horses to become strong  they are given  salt in morning.

 

74) At the time of night flowers coming with tiffin  are usually dried up. They are not bright. They have already lost their brightness. A  melodiously singing parrot  bounded in  cage are also singing to awaken  you.they are singing melodiously. So you leave sleep and rise up. Prince has rised from sleep  by song sung by poets and singers. Heaven elephant  has awakened due to  sweet  intoxicating  singing of king swans. Beautiful Ganga river sand  on bank has awakened  to song.This is comparison given by poet(similie).

 

76)After leaving sleep and rising, prince having beautiful eye lids  Aja completing  classically  morning sandhyavandanas  excetras ,by decoration experts  getting decorated   ,wearing dress joined kings class sitting in svayamvara.

SARGA 10:

1)that Dasharatha  from Indra like valience while was ruling earth with great development  aroung ten thousand years were spent.

 

2)But still  to repay debt of pithrus(fathers) essential  male child was not born.

 

3)Dasharatha has no children. To get children what to do?to know this dashsratha is waiting. Though there are various rathnas in sea,now they can’t be seen unless churned.when milk sea was churned  by gods and demons,using mandara mountain, many high things were got.This is epic story.Born like this high fourteen substances  indicate that Dasharatha will get children in future.

 

4)sRushyashrunga excetra  ruthvijas  keeping mind under control, started yajna(isti)  related to  desire getting son to Dasharatha.

 

5)at that time only,without tolerating  trouble of Ravana  gods depended upon Mahavishnu.  Path movers who   are in  heat of excess sunlight search for  tree shadow .(path movers search  shadow due to excess sun light).

Rushi pulasthya  is one among Brahma’s mind sons. He is source of  demons like Ravana excetra.Ravana was birn in  nikisha wife of vishravassu .

 

6)Gods also came to  milk sea. Vishnu also  awakened from yoganidra(yoga sleep). When we go to somebody, then,if they are not engaged in some other work,is indication that  our work will be got done.s

 

7)On hood of snake, there is one rathna.This is poet’s description. More is poison of snake more bright will be rathna.As Adishasha has  thousand hoods, ,rathnas on his hoods were  shining(enlighting) whole body of srivishnu.

 

8)Lakshmidevi was sitting  near Vishnu in kamalasana(lotus position). To her odyana(dabu,waist belt),  thinking as her delicate legs may touch,ss,on that covering pattada(silk) saree  ,on it covering her fdelicate hands,by keeping on thighs was pressing leg of Vishnu.

 

9) Vishnu was seing with his blossomed  red lotus like eyes.Was wearing peethambara. He who is easily visible to yogis,was like day of Sharath season.s

 

10) Vishnu  was wearing kousthubha bead  on his vast chest  was enlighting mark (mole) called Srivathsa.It was like  luxury mirror in which Lakshmidevi  sees her face.

 

11) Accepted by divine ornament   having four arms  Vishnu  was appearing like parijatha  born out of sea.

 

12)killing demons, having power of  standing lively were serving Vishnu only reducing redness of cheek of  demon females  sudarshana excetra weapons  with jaya world(sound).

 

13)garoda in his enemy Adishesha also,,leaving enemity,,joining hands with politeness,  was serving Vishnu. When Amrutha was brought  hit  marks caused by Indrayudha  were still there on his body.

 

14)Vishnu then only awakening from yoga sleep ‘did you get sound sleep’ to ask like this, seing with clean vision  was making holy rushies like  bhrugu excetra.

 

15)later gods to demon killer  Vishnu  doing namaskarams, which has form(svarupa) to speech and mind  did sthothra like this.

 

16)first creating world,later it’s protection  and at end it’s destruction.You are the one who do all these.My namaksara to you.

Brahma,vishu,Rudra all  forms belong to Vishnu.This is descrption of poet.

 

17) In water in sky there  is only one taste called sweet, it with relation to different land on which it false, will possess different corsponding  tastes.In the same way, you by sathva excetra charecters  relation  are getting different conditions(stages) like sthashpruthva(?).

 

18) Nobody knows you.You are knowing all(omniscient). You have no desires of any kind. You  are fulfiller of desires of all. You are not defeated by anybody.you are winner of all.You are in very delicatre form. You are cause of appearance of this gross  form world.

 

19)”Though you are in  present heart, are away from ignorents.  Though there no any desires  you have become penancier.  Though you are kind to all you are sorrowless. Though present(exist) fron ancient(anadi,beginningless) time  you have no old age- you are in heart of those who know all these facts.

 

20)You know all.Nobody know your thathvas(principles).  You are cause of all. You have  no other cause.you are lord of all.  You have no other lord to you.  You only have attained  all forms(rupas).

Here poet has accepted advaitha.

 

21) you’getting done  gana(singing) by sevem sama, has slept on water of seven seas, you are Agnimuka(firefaced)  having seven rays,supporter of all seven worlds’they tell.

 

22) knowledge  having fruit called chathurvarga(four class), stages of time having  four yugas,world filled with four  varna, brahma forn having four faces are produced due to you.

 

23)Those who are yogis, holding their mind tight, ,in chaithanya(spirit) form in heart,  to see you  try.

 

24) Tough you are birthless, you have incarnated. Though you are not doing any kriya(action,work) you have enemies,while sleeping,you are awaken. Nobody knows your  true form.

 

25) You by krishna excetra forms enjoy sense objects.  By human and Narayana forms  perform very hard penance. By killing deoms you protect people.Without doing anything you are negligent also. You are such capable.

 

26)In veda scriptures  though different kinds of paths are told for liberation,hey mahavishnu all of come and join in you only. All branches of Ganga river join sea only.

 

27) Keeping mind in you onmly,dedicating all karmas to you only,  virakthas(dispassioned) , again without falling to family, remain.you only are fate(gathi) to them.

 

28) Earth excetra your greatness, though directly seen(visible) ,deciding that also this much only,  can’t be told.You are to be known only by veda and tharkas(logics). What is there to tell about you?

 

29)Simply by your remembrance only,s  people will become completely  holy.When it is so,  dedicated to you  by remaining  mind  attitude(mental make up,mano vritthi) is only this much fruit .It can be known.

 

30)like sea rathnas,like Sun rays,Hey Mahavishnu,, your world welfare works, are beyond(not caught by)  speech and mind,it is not possible to do sthothras(praise)

 

31) Not got till you are present,,though there is nothing to be got further,  only for world blessings only, you incarnate and do corresponding works(karmas)

 

32) By praising your speciality speech will be stopped.Which is like this, it is by gradual tiredness,or if not by that due to lack of ability.

If Ajnagiri size kajal ,in ink pot called sea,if branch of ka;pavriksha tree becomes pen,  If sharada only is writing always,,hey ,Eshwara,then also  towards your charecters  ca’nt pass(pass through).

 

33)Telling  like this pleased that paramathma.  We can’t say  they praised him. All these are  truly told about present(existing) charecters only.

 

34) If gods ask are you safe? And show love,to him though it is not pralaya(total destruction) time,told about  fear of  demon crossing sea. 

Sea at the time of total destruction  crossing border  makes earth to drown.  Sea also crosses border in a fixed known time. Bur Ravana without considering time  was troubling people  always.

 

35) Later in nearer mountain caves,  due to echo of sounds of mountains  by decreasing  sound of sea,  god told.

Bhagavantha means complete lordship,virya(valience), fame,treasure,dispassion(vairagya) . these six are called ‘Bhaga’.One who has these six charecters is Bhagavantha.

 

36)Very old poet  in his varna(letter) places  well spelt,having  proper samskara(predisposition)  words got blessed.

Speeches are in four conditions called para,Madhyama,Pashyanthi,vaikhari.These appear in four placesmuladhara,Nabhi(navel),heart,face  respectively.

42) Brahma’s creation following rules(bindings),sandal tree  which tolerates snake’s trouble ,myself  all these wicked  troubles of Ravana,as brahma has given to him as boon.onm this basis he tolerated.

 

43)That demon  requrested brahma  who was satisfied by penance of demon, without respect in humans  asked for a boon not to be killed by gods.s As flowers are needed  for worship  ravana’s heads sare  are described as flowers.

 

44)that me(myself)   becoming son of Dasharatha  with sharp arrows  will  make those ravana’s  heads called lotus flowers mass will make fit for worship of warfield.

 

45)people doing yaga9sacrifice) classically,the offers given to you mayavi demons without tasting like now, and again which you are going to get for yourself , will make quickly and give.

 

46)As result of done punyas those gods who are doing aeroplane  journey while moving in sky, on the way if they come across ravana’s pushpaka vimana(aeroplane), are hiding in clouds. After I incarnated and killed Ravana  no uch fear.

 

47)ss Ravana  was arresting and carrying females in heaven , due to fear of sin of nalkubara was not disturbing them(was not making them defective). Now they without combing head with sorrow,knot put jade,I will help you to open.

 

48) As black clouds pour  rain  on dried up tired  crops due to excess sunlight, and disappear, That Vishnu  to gods who were troubled  by Ravana ,by speeking lovely words became invisible(disappeared)

 

49) Indra excetra gods, to get done gods works  going Vishnu followd  like wind from flowers  and went.(and trees from parts).

 

50) On this side Dasharatha  as puthrakamesti yaga(sacrifice) was on completion, ,from fire pot(agni kunda) a divine person  rised up and came. On seing him all ruthvikas wondered.

 

51) by entry of first purusha ,difficult to carry even by him, holding gold  vessel  containing milk charu   appeared.

 

52) that purusha who came out fron that fire pot(agnikunda), was from side of prajapathi brahma. The payasa(sweet paste) which he brought,Amrutha born in sea  Indra and Dasharatha took.

 

53) Vishnu who has delivered three worlds alos wanted to take birth in Dasharatha .We should know that Dasharatha was having good charecters which were not available in others.

 

54) As Sun gives his light  half to earth and half to sky-like this equally  gave that payasa  to his  two wives. More explanation is give in next stanza regarding this.

 

55)To him as koudsalya was elder wife sje was more liked. Therefore payasa(sweet paste) equally to them,,they only gave one one part to Sumithre. He wanted them to distribute among themselves.

But according to Ramayana  king only distributed to all three wives directly.

 

56) knowing openion of Dasharatha who was  who was knowledgeable(knower),husband,king  also those both wives  the paste which they got on their part, gave one one part to Sumithre.

 

57) As female bee keeps  equal love on   mada dhare(pride rasa,pride flow)  flowing  on both sides, sumithe in both kousalye and kaikeyi- was keeping  one equal love in both.

 

58)Amrutha named sun rays, helpful to people, waterful, like wearing pregnancy, those three people(queens)  wore pregnancy  which was having paramathma’s part(amsha,fraction).

 

59) white coloured queens  who became pregnant at the same time,  like like  stillunexpressed (unmanifest)  treasures of crops  were shining.

 

60) to all of them, as thoigh gujnaries(little once?) having  cone(shankha),wheel(chakra)  signs were appearing as though falling to feet(doing namaskarams) in their dream.

 

61)Having golden wings,(mass of Brightness) spreading big light, carrying away clouds with speed, by garuda were carried away.

 

  62) wearing kousthubha bead in neck,given by Vishnu to put, shaking play lotus in hand, Lakshmi  serving him in dream, Lakshmi is sarojahasthe(having lotus in hand) will be always holding  lotus in her hand.

 

63) bathed in sky ganga ,reciting more  brahma vedas, by seven maharshies they were served.These seven rushies are Bhrugu,marichi,Athri,pilaha,pulasthya, krathu,vasista.

 

64)king on listening those words which came from their side,felt happy.  He knew(thought) himself as  equal to Vishnu who is father of world.  He thought himself in better place by ascending order.

 

65)  only one Vishnu in their wombs(uteruses) like reflected moon  as making separated in variousforms  ,as Athma svarupa(form)  in different forms,resided.

Though god is one by his part(amsha,fraction)  only  appeared in them as different and resided. Though moon is one, in water as there are many moons .This shows he was supportive to advaitha.

 

66) Later king’s pathivrathe(chaste) elder wife  delivered  a child which was like light  eradicating (removing) darkness .

 

67) Seing body of son  who was attracting mind of all, father Dasharatha   named mangalakara name in world ‘Rama’.(Dasharatha   to that beautiful (Manohara, Abhirama) bodied son  Kept  mangalakara name’Rama’.

 

68)  Big  Light to Raghuvamsha ,by his limitless brightness  lamps in delivery house  were dulled(appeared dull).He has used special ‘pradipa’ here.As mothers stomach was empty  after delivary, child by the side of kousalya  was appearing beautifully. Like dried up  ganga’s sand bank in Sharath season,  like born new lotus.

 

69)  Having thin stomach,,thin waisted mother  with rama in bed, on sand bank  given as gift lotuses  were  enlighting like  dried up ganga in Sharath season.

 

70) chaste(Sheela) charactered  Bharatha named son, was born to kaikeyi.  Chastity(sheelsa) is all high treasure. Last wife of Dasharatha  kaikeyi  delivered Bharatha.  Bharatha was chasteful. Like suitable son to father  he was chasteful.  His mother was very happy.  Like this  mother from Bharatha and Bharatha from mother   were decorated. As politeness decorates treasure(wealth) is upamana(simile).

 

71) dasharatha’s middle wife  Sumithradevi  delivered twin childs  named Lakshmana and Shathrughna who were good charactered. Like well learnt(practiced) education   like producing Prabodha(knowledge) and politeness.

 

72)  All world became  defectless ,added with expressed  charecters . like  heaven following Vishnu who is lord of earth. As Vishnu took human birth  as rama on earth,  even heaven also has come on earth only and resided as though.

 

73)Till now fearing to Ravana  to their lord dikpalakas(direction maintainers) , now as protecter  ‘chathurmurty’vishnu    as he incarnated  all four directions  as though breathing freely, wind blowd slowly.

 

74)In fire as there was no smoke ,as Sun is shining cleanly, both of them from now onwards, there is no trouble of Ravana  as though they have left  sorrow

It was like.

 

75) At that moment only, demon Lakshmi’s  tear drops ,from crowns of ten headed Ravana  rathnas fell on earth. As next knowing that Ravana is undergoing trouble, rathnas of crowns fell. This is bad sign.

   

76)At the time of birth of Dasharatha’s sons, to welcome them  first in heaven god’s  nagaries(drums)  sounded.it means than Dasharatha  gods were more happy with incarnation of rama. Due to incarnation of Rama  gods were  avoiding all troubles done by Ravana.So gods were more happy than Dasharatha.

 

77) Flower rain of  santhana tree  gods poured  in palace. Next many mangalakaryas took place.  Santhana  is one of trees of divine world. Mandara,parijatha, santhana,kalpavriksha,Harichandana  these five  are trees in divine world(devalika).  The same matter is described in  same sargas 11 th shloka.

 

78 Having samskara(predispositions), drinking breast milk of nurse, present those boys  like with brother with father also were equally joyful and growing. As joy(bliss) was born before birt of children only,joy became elder brother of child.as these children grew to father there was increase in joy. Samskaras to br done are sixteen. They sreGarbhadana,pumsavana, seemanthonnayana,jathakarma, nishkramana,Annaprashana, Chudakarma,upanayana, godana, Samavarthana,vivaha these are 12 samskaras.

 

79) To fire if ghee excetra havis(ahuthi) are put, it’s brightness still increases.  Naturally obedience in them, by education was gradually increasing.

 

80)InNandanavana(divine garden) religions of all seasons, without opposing each other,  adjust those brothers were all  with much love with each other they became ornament to Raghuvamsha.

 

81) Though brothers love was equal, how Rama Lakshmana were in love ,in same way Bharatha and Shthrughna were in love  together.

 

82) Among them  air and fire to each other, how moon and seas ,their union was not getting separated.

 

83) On completion of summer  as clouds days were  not  more cold,more heat ,so as to favour people, thaose choildern  by influence and politeness were liked by people.

 

84)If dasharatha’s four sons are seen it was as though four purusharthas have worn body.

 

85) They who were having devotion in father, father by charecters -lord of four directions  were givingnjoy  to Dasharatha,like seas by rathnas.

 

86)As Airavatha was throne elephant(pattada  elephant) of Indra  while doing war with demons, on it’s four Ivory teeth also(danthas) sword hits were falling.  But edge of sword was getting cut, but no pains to elephnts.
