Poetry of MAHAKAVI (great poet) Sri Dr H.S.Venkateshamurthy(HSV):( living and lively poet .his poetries are Well decorated (salankrutha) and well knit (kusuree krutha)(interwoven). Today is his 75th Birthday


 One rainy evening:
Sky covered with cloud also severe hot
At once is  blowing cloud air
I am in bus stop to get the bus
 By side is one lamp piller

Where they were,some how gathered at once
Hundreds of lamp insects to lamp
Again in next moment are shedding wings
Mulu mulu mulu along road

First evening time  along with rain coming
Hurry to vehicle riders   for instruction
Suddenly they run  auto scooters cars
Running on mass of insects flying falling

As though twistibg sqeezng guts(intestines)
this much severe violence is is inevitable
 people are standing as though not seing even if seen
as though they are also pillars.

The play of birth and death is  talking place in front of eye
Murder and death are   both  one and same
Inside emotionless  machaines people  sammardha(……………)
handing over all their responsibilities

our bus also came sat on seat
some chiti chiti sound inside ear
jiva(life) coming to mouth pressing throat knowing
 foot shakes(vibrates,viliguttuvudu) inside  bus.

Small candle:                                      
 poetry is a candle never melting
if enlighted won’t put off
in light of wick appears  karaga (celebration) of light
  not at all knowing  it’s existence  in dark.

Candle publishes itself by itself
This is expression of  self along with
Also enlightens the place  which  it exists.On back side wall
   dusky faces  of those who are  dead .

to old window yesterday only  swinging
new curtain the kind which it moves due to air.
Boque   of flower rubbing to window glass
Branch of jakaranda(……………….) little kid of sqirel.

 Along with candle  enlightens  door region
 Observing and standing us also!

Night on completion of sixty:
For you having got brightness  of  my eye
For you having got back,my delicacy of ear
For you havng got back  power of straightening
 No objection; no  boredom;only question present!
Tell and go held and  shaked god  asking god!

Laughing to my words coming standing
Pated on back shaking body told” you are strong  panda” (embryo,rice ball)
You have seen me only after blurring of  eye?
After deafness of ear , you heard me?
 “How did you see without eyes ? how did you here without ears”?”

Five hundred years back suddenly
Jail wall exploding ,light hole!
in hole was found  wonder eye face
chest hand sickle had shook ‘jhal’(trembled)

what  eyes!kindness sympathy
 sense of involvement(tanmaya ,plunged  ) with hand  in pond
ray stretching hand tears of red lotus
 on seing ,wiping  fooled maharaya(gentleman)!

Waiting day and night without closing eye lid
 That day felt blessed in tearful eyes!
 From that   day to  this day  in small hole
How many faces seen  account not kept!

I have been waiting with shabari  eyes so far!
Shall I see again such face?

Curved flower is blossoming  in cheek  cheek pit
Reducing is wood in put off oven

 Unfirm(Chapala) hand of kid like scratching  on wall
Behind back   mixing line of sandy(market,santhe)
Penetrating  eye in eye  sea  scribled figure
 May even appear  song of forgetting oneself

 If you join stars  kataka tula rashi
Than empty paper  scratched pride
In  blank paper  scribling pride  is better
Carving life like  this is not statue but appearing  Itself
Is grumbling  some thing seing open field.

Stethoscope should be heard  keeping on stony chest
 Have to count pulse holding wrist of  fore arm
Sea filtered seed is  point of tear!
Is shining coming  to poet’s ring figure

Showing   pushpagiri   hill in train
 he told flower ,she laughed.
Hill is like devil! If flower is asked here
Should  we believe with eyes closed?

To daughter of fire  open hair(knot) along  length of  back!
Shadow of back is as true as light
 Flower of nagalinga in rain of dew drops
Exists in snake hood  churned crystal

 Along whirl of  suragi  river’s  coil of snake
Inside whip is carved top
To stealing intellect  what is got is  only whip
Exists soil wheel in single meditation.

“Digging ground with sweat
Wet land of his part
Phloughing,cleaning,pulling out bush    of lantana
 Cutting uppemale,papas,karakanti plants
Cutting echalu(……………),burning stem finishing nati
Speaking with clouds to useless low land
Requesting for four drops  humbly.

 Without standing in front of   temple and towers  with closed eyes
 Tumulted by cry of child somewhere
Holding little battery in mid night
 Moon canine  teeth ‘s night’s grim face in vain
Probing stick of light to note of sorrow
Giving ear walking forward innocent yogi…

Slet there be your torch to our path
Like spill of moon vessel at midnight!”

Responsibility:
What ever we enlight is lamp.to give
 light lamp is responsible.not the enlighter
what ever we grow is only creeper
to make flower blossom ,creeper
is responsible. Not the grower.

What ever we can built is hut
To give shadow is responsibility of hut
 What ever we can is medicine
To reduce pain is responsibility of
Medicine. Not the giver.

What ever we can give is supportto
 responsibility of giving  efficiency  is of support
what ever we can give is rice. To relieve from hunger
is duty of rise not one who has given rice.

What ever we do is only shape.to  to work is
responsibility of workship  Not the workman.

 Mad   old people are  wandering!

She will not contract to brush  this girl
Opening her eye  in imagination
Freeing from natural   calamities .  let  chisel of time
   Don’t spoil her body!

 Alum rod (shalaka)  given up oil and wick
Reflect her this moment’s   beauty.
  Sprinkle tears   on parijatha
Let self (atma) material not become  salivated(    mouth enjalu)!

Lifting her to transcendental  from physical,
She is firelass (agni kanye)  not touched by wick
 Flower  blossomed by  ray of many eyes
Dances on nacked stage(nagna vedi).

Formula of breath Is  dragging- measuring is snake lightning
Measuring tape of   sky around garuda(eagle)

Sky is bridegroom boy-bride is sword in his sheath
  Chaithra  Chariot of chaithanya  is young horse!
 Pour amrutha rain – lip getting touch of lip
green play  cradle  amrutha cup is   this world!

While cutting grown nail piercing figure
Playing string of chest,intolerable pain
 Broad  nail is natural issue (begetting)  of  my body
Became ready to   hold and cut.

Short moon(little moon):
While short moon arising,time of mid night
At some time seting sun,completed   apara(other world) work
Spilling of stars in bald forehead  sky cheek
 Shivering was little bird in bamboo basket

 Small tear on forehead,pearl at tip of lip
Milk water fell together from sky
 Through out full room of  delivered mother(bananthi)-
  - shadow without light.
‘don’t cry’ was telling  bud figure of lamp

In wall with photo,empty quuare
Bird  holding biting    pressing  in beak
The word father –silent in   sac(bag)
Rain bow is wandering in disguise.

Going beyond lotuses,came sun  feet?
Who is godking is  new discussion(issue)!
Sutha   (karna)  was mooving towards  sun by climbing chariot
Full mouth weeping was this  land’s chakori.

Earth is box of kumkum sky is tight lid
Light of earth is suckling  silver clouds udder
To clean forehead bindi which fingure has right?
Let there be luck of basinga  of light  to all  shadows.

With tree:
Conversation with tree is not that much difficult!
Have to stand ,in it’s front  like a tree.

Arms becoming branches   swining to cool air
Leg being stem ,ingure becoming root for a while

Let full face flower smile ,very slowly blossom
Keep your mouth shut let bird come there

Listen now  making   ear   bodyfull   wishper
leaves are telling   some thing  ! keep eye on eye

tree may become man ,if man becomes tree
if little bird sits  on shoulder and fly.

Old man coming in hot  sun may throw body in shadow
Leaving breath with love eat fallen fruit with love.

Sqirel emited and flied from that to this tree
An ant running  went into tree’s  nose.

Now each leaf of tree is wishpering tongue
Let speech  not end full  keeping little for tomorrow!

Talk of tree has no meaning .language is mere vibration
Response wnen touched .thanks while nodding head

 It is not very difficult  to speak with tree!
Only condition ;you have to stand in front of tree like a tree.

Which is day to shiva?which is night to him?
No difference of day and night  to eternal   jangama statue
When it is day here ,midnight in America.half day half night –

dance of kailasa in mirror of mind,
night wabling  of moon plate full,

stood and told in slow voice:”shankari…
open door qquickly  playful eyed,
vessel(bowl) of  my lip,wearer   of bilva garden ,
to burning day  pouring cool  shivarathri!”

In  Africa  forest,every day morning
One  deer  rising suddenly
As though has seen bad dream
Shaking,thara ,thara
Tells  itself to itself  like this
“if you put behind fastest  speed tiger
Of this forest you are won(winner).
Otherwise  you will fall into   tiger’s stomach
Finishing story as usual”

curved moon is sharpened sickle   hanging on head.
Hundreds of camera clicks  in front of tajmahal
Behind every pair peeping  same tajmahal
Wiping out  eye,laughing   youth male and female,
Grand father  grand mother  caught in   jail 
and get pained  in  binding of  narrowness (tightness)

Yamuna filters blood by lifting moon pot.
Taj had whitened  protecting grave yard in womb.

Right to growth:
 Agasthya came out of hutpenance or  heat  telling

suddenly lamp   got put off!

I am afraid of dark !

I will bring god’s lamp

Some one was got!some body laughed!
In blind dark  amrutha moment!

Floated drowned for a moment

It is very difficult to believe
That she has gone(died).let there be  emji(mg) road even
  to Gandhi bajar  she  hsd not gone alone.just like to picnic
 to clinic aldo  we had gone together and came  along with
 quarel. In cinema,drama,ramanavami music  programme
 In  total even in bengaluru I should  be there with her.
When it is like this  did she went to other place
Moving left hand? If tilts(imbalance)  on road  who is by her side.?

In dense road it was a  much  joy  for her to walk. Liking to me
 Lines of trees  dull road.if temple means finished. Will stand in street
Wearing footwear. I am still searching for car key  in house.

If you hold book  world is not needed to  grumbling
Now also she might be standing   waiting for me on   road  curve.

unedible  fruit:
when single fruit is seen in single tree
it should not be   plucked.eating is totally
 prohibited. In past in kamyaka forest  was  peculiar
 muni   kanva.since birth he used to eat
only one kind (species)of fruit.that was one rare species
of jambu.yielding only one fruit per year  jambu.
That kanva  there only under tree  in  sac(kosha) form 
with strict fasting.opening eyes once in  a year  eating
 only one    matured  fruit,again used to get down to
incessant meditation.

Bhima without knowing that ,plucked  fruit and got into trouble
Pandavas!once if this life chain is cut  no save.

To kanva,to jambu fruit,even to pandavas who plucked fruit.
That is why Krishna told:when there is only one fruit
In   single tree fruit should not be plucked.if eaten an end.
Falls into lap kanva’s death like  inexcusable sin fruit.
Always before eating fruit  ,  keeping eye in eye
Read script written on  fruit  name of ownership.

One hungry saw stone girl of belur
Rising slowly sliping pillar    embraced her.
Keeping  sole   on her thigh passed hand in shoulder recess
Hanged to neck.
With anxiety  to touch stomach to stomach making half eye
 To this much  fat  keeping lip to her left breastdrawing cheek
inside sucked breast nipple  holding biting

Opening knot spreading ,right hand pressed child’s
Head to breast.with blocked breath child detached 
Lip from breast,seing mother’s face laughed
Mother’s lip slowly  smelled boy’s head.

Washing in lip breast cup
Child closed eye sucking milk,was standing straightly
Channakeshava   as little child
Slowly came out  beyond doorstep (hosilu)  outside
To absorb milk spilling from milk jar without falling to ground.

Mother’s face was seen in mirror.
White forehead.spreadind flying knot.
Simply mother was seing her face in mirror.

Bald mirror.droping rain drops.my mothe
Who had not completed eighteen still.
