Seective translation of Poetries of dr l.hanumanthaiah ,famous poet taken from ‘samagra sahithya samputa 1’(kaavya-nataka-mahaprabhandha published by ‘kannada  pusthaka pradhikara’,kannada bhavana,j.c road ,bengaluru-560002,first edition 2019,translated by dr raveendra hosadurga.translation is my hobby.please excuse and correct if any mistakes.i am grateful to poet and his family members.

 Rays which pulled dark of worldly life

Which  flames of fascination  enlighted in my chest

Filling dream disappearing  poetic minded clever

 

To wearing jade  making to wear  threw  gut  garland to neck

To me who danced with joy  no memory of beauty of harvest

While opening wings and flying  was emiting star light

To scars of mind would  was rubbing apleying ojntment

Kissing in talk only friend who became  swinging cradle

Pressing holding pillow of memory  kept sandal on netthi(head top)

 

In silent path  like run of flowing river

Like dispersed stars  as though making to stand in sky

Like embracing whirl air like new fresh holi

Is requesting (beging)relief  like atom every moment.

 

No rebirth here eternal life true veda

Enough tiresome labour

Make face to new world

When boat journey if distant  sword edge column(ankana)

Cross and come money thirst  come and play silent veena

Let new raga emit and  come   let join in alapas

 

Changed path of decade only  feel of saliva

With teasing  graves cuting coming pain mad

Rays which pulled  naked dark to field

Come rain come! Come slow

To split chest pour cool and come

 

Drops drops withering peacock of my chest

Let spread it’s wing and dance come

Tiredness fading  let  again desire of dancing come

Hear  request of inner parrot come

 

Seing upstairs without clouds

Eye view melting  blind

See beauty of green barren

 

Let hungry kids stop crying

Let milk emit in dried up chests

Ocean of kindness come  tone of neck come

 shine of sliping  cheek  drying  due  to sunlight

 

in various types of flowers  many kinds of colours

rate is same from child to old aged

 

beauty of loose flowers chain garland beauty

is chainless(neckless) neck  is it beautiful

Lap of pampa sea of kuvempu

 Sharane sharada’s cool  body.

Carved stone of crores years

In worldly life  hungry feel’s root

Poison of caste if rises from  foot to head

Those who steal will become kanmani(eyebead)

Those who labour and earn  appear like  wicked beads

Stone hen shouting  night becomes day

 

If poison of caste  flows in nerves plexuses(pulses)

Eyes becoming blur sky and earth becoming one  base shakes

Joy spiling in palace  neighbouring houses  get washed off

Them  row  of boats of rich (haves)make  cruel laugh(attahasa)

 

If poison of caste body gets digested

Rice grain disappearing  becomes balls of silver and gold.

Nithyakarmas (daily rituls) becoming as though stoped  body becomes temple

 

Poison of caste becomes world awakenness(awareness)

Becomes diging kula(negilu)

Womb(uterus)  temple of guru’s house  becomes place of havalandas(………………?)

In presence of saadhvies(lady saints) place of illusion dream

In friendship of sadhvies(saadhus) there will be festival of world guru

To fist of rice to change coins stood people  will tell udho udho

white snow  spreading blosomed eye

 saree border of which maya has embraced you

to burn (flame)of innerstage lamp  pouring ghee pritected light

 

runing boat of faith  like world boatsman

crossing those who come waiting for those who come  don’t know  tune(dhaati)

don’t know gift (kaanke)  of  protecter (watchman)

Pecking rice grains of  truth incarnation  to dedicating  hungry brahmin

Lamp garland is burning

Shining light wall

Wick of knowledge in yard

Night dark has faded

Has shines like morning

 

Cotton of affection becoming soft

Tears becoming oil

Lond journey part rain

Whole town naked

 

To mad rain poured on some day

Whole mud washing away

Earth gobess becoming clean

Has worn green dress

 

To cradles in which kids laugh

 No rope of swing

Boiling sea is drowning,is becoming fild in

Side lanka is floating drowning crawlling

Has washed out decades lap of doubt

Earth sky  is uniting pouring

Swallowing opening mouth lives  body of clouds

 

Nothern hills are becoming  mere fields

Snow valley,with full sufering  foam

In srorm of fear like dance of devil

Being caught  in whirl peiole like insects

 

Pandiths who  kept holy piligrimages  for challenge(pana)

Re running directionless  mad horse run

Bhajarangi vishva hindus being caught in ash nama

If can’t protect wife and childern  where is religion protection?.

 

Long minar’s response  sound thundering

Sound of mulla’s prayer  becoming silent shaking

In residence of vasthu church fading

In yard of orphans where dharma valley?

In ol age falling in enemity of duryodhana  is consciousness only

To walk means middle hall’s  lamp’s memory

To one who has worn dress  no joy of nakedness

No strength of  dark no beauty of black shadow

Flowing blood colour is vision of seing eye

By  the time  we know   as life lquid(jiva drava)  split eye’s  figure

in sky of life

in business of overexpenses like cow calves

in midst of flock(group) also becoming fine wool

became  beautiful woolen blanket(kambali)

became residence of pot

 

becoming potter treading  bottom of clen soil

iron smith heated  tip light of pump(thidi)

ploughing kula(……….?) beco,ing sharp crying eye tear

became eternal drop owner who became bank of truth ocean

in open sky always as virtuoua(good charectered)

swere like laugh of star world.

 

In green of plant and plant like flowing consciousness

To roots and branches you come in taste and colour

You are single stringed (ekathari)  I  am split(sibaru………..?)of bamboo

Aravantike(……………?) of letters  supportive of arali plant(ashoka tree)

In back of neem keeping ankusha(sharp instrument)  of mango

A begger’s  in neck garland’s  bud

Did not dry uo (pity)for ever for those who killed affection.

 

Responsibiltity becoming bed and blanket

joy of neeraganti (water supplier in village) karasthala of channeps

yogi who does not sow and grow  meditation called tiredness

in valley flowing sweat river coming

If called to come inside mind

Sqeezing body  making ball

Should pass through hole(kindi)

Hole is very small

 

If asked to turn in town

Should rise chest and walk

Town is little big.

 

Forest is more desirable than town  bindings can be crossed

 

Bending body  fanninf hand  sholud call crow group

Bending like bow  adventure can be shown

Embracing whirl air  can be floated in sky

Mooving cloud we can play  .play with moon

 

Getting down to depth of ponds leaving breath of freedom

Should become neergole(………………….?) distributing happyness

Loving all seasons  swallowing new vasantha(spring)

Enjoying seing buds and nut  ,harvest by seing fruit and flower

Smearing fragrance  to washed body  to present to world.

 

can run like deer even if lion comes

To our people who are fighting  peacock itself is residence(place) of life

Why life is like  this

Like  always filled flowing river

Leg sliped fallen dreams  as though making to drown fost  completing

Even in severe summer  filled up  pregnant woman

Emiting beauty like middle aged  beauty

Not yielding to severe rain  in elephant’s walk  woman

Crawling  near bank giant tree’s each root

Removing next one day

Pulling (ransaking?)  to depth  as though enjoying.

 

Why life is like this

Though flowing like river  unsatisfied walk

In fascination of slope without standing in one place

Siting ocean’s desire of joining body

accumulated snow ball  melting maya(magic) net

though dam is built and  made to stand no stand

if filled overflow doorsthemselves are empty

to kind of daily quarell for stagnant water

Putting delivered child to your lap

Have stood at distance as sky faced

Forgeting pain of carrying for nine months

Am wishing to rise to high level

 

Is orphan child is to be reared up(brought up)

A ray    of  boredom  mat be there in guts)intestines)

Kunthi delivering with difficulty ,fearing to world blame

To allow to float in river is it easy mother?

 

Bringing in fish net mooving wave of wonder

Save life   you  mother

In your motherhood not even a little is mine

Sleepless nights  uncountable.

 

Opened to consciousness of world  greatness feather skin

Left child’s  valience now  I  won’t  kill(baligodenu……………?)

Bending to technique of krishna dancing to pride of dharma(religion)

Can’t beg alms(bhikshe?)  of mother’s love(mathruprema)

like karma  fruit abhimanyu

Still how many lamps should be enlighted

To melt dark of world

Grinding all seeds grown on earth

In east only light is low(dull)

Where to west?to drilling chill in north

Snow cover tickling

To sea bed of south drowning fear wind

 

People siting in dark from epochs

are waiting for arrival of light

are mooving door and seing to it’s flow

to sense of matter(topic)

 

to deepavali of each ear

waited and sat for  fading of thama(dark)

to wash huts and huts fence of differentiation

in feather of buded leaves  green holding breath

 for swinging of thorana(leaf garland)  getting down at doorstep(hosthilu)

is playing it’s own play lapful of dirt

not even light of chest is not seen  dark of deepavali

Should not have poured on  tiles

Rain like this through out night  rapa rapa

House was leaking  even in vessels kept opposite

Tickling drops sound tapa tapa

 

Dream  falling sleeping child

Opening yeethless mouth  cheek   dimple has fallen.

 To sound of dropsIf child sits up

No dry cloth to wipe tears

Rain is not stoping though it is midnight

Is pulling even in chill  sleep to it’s world.

 

Rain without clouds  hear of air  not mooving

May rain at least once  to earth.

On  dry leaf of hut in rain poured path

Without noise can  can river milk flowopening door quickly knowing tiredmess of kids

Can  breast milk   pour without disturbing  taste.

Field(bayalu) chasing back  joining temple

To severe rain fallen becoming leg dirt

In between flower petals  which was wavw of fragrance

To poetry path was seen.(appearing)

 

Dark covering garigatti(…………?) folded

Blood filtered   recently delivered mother on hut

When had fallen as dry leaf to her chest

Leaning stretching red lips  for drop of milk

Hurrying to chest beat of kid  was dancing

 

With anxiety of  holding breath

Unable to roll unable to  blosom  freezing

Rice on oven becoming rice

Spreading  nose to fragrance  tomorrows  tongue

Becoming tasteful dream finding  poetry

Was flowing as breast milk drop

40)single boatman(navika):

Beyond blue in world

On black bank of red sea

Lonely boatman (navjka)I am.

 

Keeping mind for many tears

at deep  mid night  I am the one who reached goal.

In twinkling lamp light only

Geting directions  swimmer

Embracing new moon day(amavasye) bending light

Diging  moon light archrer.(billugara)

 

Carrying milk powder to hungry kids

 Along with wheat powder(nucchu)  bags

Making to reach   bank  firm bodied I am.

 

If speed is limited  cry of childern

Sounding in ear  in waves of emotions.

If rushing bull  snowrock

Fear of  hiting  becoming pieces.

 

If innocent kids drown

baked in hunger getting tired news

even if storm blows  draught.

Though heated sea bird  lapful

Gasping drawling tilting  getting tired

Reaching bank efficient  wavw sea bank
