part 1 translation of poetries of dr.l.hanumanthaiah ,famous poet,by dr raveendra hosadurga from 'samagra sahithya samputa (kavya-nataka- mahaprabandha ) published b kannada pusthaka pradhikara,bengaluru. 

 

 

Seective translation of Poetries of dr l.hanumanthaiah ,famous poet taken from ‘samagra sahithya samputa 1’(kaavya-nataka-mahaprabhandha published by ‘kannada  pusthaka pradhikara’,kannada bhavana,j.c road ,bengaluru-560002,first edition 2019,translated by dr raveendra hosadurga.translation is my hobby.please excuse and correct if any mistakes.

In infinet desire of reaching sky

Rising desire hill on life ladder

sat one in  dense shadow of tip of tree

looking kind of blosoming flower,eating split fruits

in joy of chilipili of sparrows and parots

light of truth mooving aside dark covered  got upset saint(santha)

 

afraid of rise of waves of family ocean

to force of waves  hiting  on bank of hard stone

thinking that hill peak is cool,burns tiredness

climbing steps  rised steps saint   theresat  being unable to get down

wife ,kindness of oceanwearing three petaled flower

has searched in field of  mundane life (loukika)without noise anywhere

 

there one  garden meditation of rabits and deers

diet of life fear everyday of cruelty of tigers

king kobra(kalinga) in dark,seven headed basinga(………..?)lightning (flash) of light

rats rabits frogs  have embraced and slept in shadow of hood

yawning hunger  gargling sweat trouble of tiger’s hunt

in watch(gasthu) of katakate (square) in rotation of wheel, lesson of animals

 

ice rocks are melting  green is becoming stone

cooling if hand kept,flowing hundreds of miles(yojanas)

in ganga and thunga  natural colourfuul run

no mata of woman(manini)in fild of light

no hurry of embrace  between evening and mornings

 

becoming like shoddhodana going out in sleepy eye

in silent  mid night under control of yashodhare

no mothers wearing poured mass of flowers

saint called saint  lord of three buds

friend of  kindness lass umbrella of ocean broad

in moment called moment became row of family ship

Mother of hundred   crores clildern

Head of lao of respectable people

Firm(immovable) stand of unobstructive treasure

Will cool tension(anxiety) of our people.

 

Shining world wide

In black and white  forest of without knowing mistakes

Contineous  journey  on theppas(…………………..?),daily drinks

Seven colours of rainbow only

Spliting seventy  each to each session(jaava)

Who fed mayamathi(magic intellect)

What an unpitiable mind is your’s mother.s

 

Joining kollidevils in yards of those who are rich(haves)

blended gut- creeper in theft play

stretching out tongue of memory as though not remembering

in snoring sleep also  to kind of sowing your grass blade

To us  who are tired by singing thodi raga

Desire of changing raga memory of bhyravi

Mix moderate of  favour of thala(beats,rythns)amd thamburi

Desire of dancing has not dried up  though hands and legs are tied

To mind of those who have found dreams here fire is set

In stem(dantu) of army  strengthless  principles(thathvas)  only fathvas

 

Sslooking at green gandhi all leave long sigh

Everyday strike of gandhi is wanted (needed)

Drinking gandhi is needed  dancing gandhi is needednew gandhi is needed to

Absorb and jump all beauty of world

representing  poors  poor naked bodied

 gandhi  roling truth  in mat throwing away in nation(country ) border

 

roling away in bag governments and courts

stading in doors of multiple crores plans

making people steps to multi storied buildings

in their nerves and pulses kniting lifts threads

if beggars are found killing chasing back

standing line by line are asking for new gandhi

4)walk of single leg:

walking this much distance to cover path

How much tears,  pain of loneliness

In heat of sweat giving body to storm

Searching for cool air

In joined palms(bogase) only 

Filtering drinking water

In found found ponds

Stood tired eating fascination  solving thirst

 

Fearing to chasing back devil(bethala)

Puling shadow only as relative

Embracing as ball of burning sunlight

Was doing ‘rolling service’(urulu seva)

Was waiting for mangala of house god(mane devaru)

For months together,eating yesterday’s rice(thangalu anna)s

 

In valley of narrow path(kaalu path,leg path))

Was tying kankana to thangadi and thumbe plants

Was joining hands(namaskarams) and mooving

Infire of bearfoot  mooved long distance and came

Was plucking pricked thorns one by one

In tickling blood  found kanagila bud  

In blosomed  dasavala I burnt myself and stoods

 

Those who come for support ask palm

If bored and shouted  will become dangerous to jiva(life)

Kings of aviveka palace  came

Making naked  who had fallen supine(angaatha)

Shouted with joy and danced,tread so as not to rise

In moon light only  thevedu(…………………?) finding theppa(boat)

Stood crossing river in subordination  of boatman  (ambiga)only.

 

Thsre was one saint with feel of  nakedness

Who  lead(guided) me holding hand in thorn-stone path

Came to shadow  tree and  sat   climbing tree

Making fruits to fall asked to  sove hunger

Washing body in grrov of channel by side of wet land(gadde)

In weared wet cloth only came to base of hill

In hut of hill found  fine coolness .

 

In union of  bag thieves(gantu kallaru) was passing  lonely life

If   I  was blowing (playing)shehanay,were telling ‘shahabbas’

Slowly holding breath

In group of dullards were beating drum(chande maddale)

In rythmless archestra were tearing ear drum

Pushing mind in silence was hearing  sound of  thamate

Was floating in rhythm wave ,was in mood of music

Missing beat embracing(tying) arms ,tying gejje (leg chain)  if danced

In shakibg gait(walk) also  as though rising to height and height

 

For one who has left saint like maluku(……………?) of churning stick

Was churning omly ,who ate butter

No memory of sleeping  on body  to  young  maid servent

Sqeezing matured fruits,mixing udder milk

drinking seing mirror enjoying  not known.s

 

no shasthras(scriptures) and  sthothras(stanzas),mo manthras and thanthras

no request of mavutha to  amkusha (sharp instrument)of elephant’s walk

in sunlight of mid day no tiredness of walk

this road of exercise,though passed right time(saru hotthu……………….?)

was waiting when it will ends

not amrutha  removing hunger,not khanaja(…………..?) opening false

no gift of making crossing graft(kasi)

no boat of remooving  tiredness of swimming

thinking as bank(dande)  leaned and stood to sand mass.

 

Full of neck bead garland,variety of colourfuloles(ear oebament)

Removed and gave,bite and eat nut  he told

come and join saree border,is shield of bullet attack

while puling embracing,while green root creeping

was  wabling like creeper,was straining like  malli(thief,mad???)

 

if rises she is pure air .if slept molle bud

if she comes whirl  wind,if enjoying coconut

moderate soil if ploughed,if allowd matured fruit

making time as stick,making to dance dancer

 

was troubling  requesting(beging)and waiting -

Earth and shy wide  keeping ladder,holding rope

Throwing colour making holi,lime smile writen figure

Will come gearing if stood was preventing to go only

If told I have  come and sit,was spilling fragrance flower

Leaving in middle making alone,disapeared without troublings

Round palace of maya around was army(group) of magicians

Comprosing with king,building fort of  manthra spit(saliva)

Tying garland thanthra  wave,keeing mass of buds(moggu dande) in head

Was waiting for blosoming flower,was mooving fr hunt

 

Knowing horoscope of people’s chest,awakened world valient king

Spoiling sleep left rules,spoiled ethic’s vatus(boys)

People troubling caste persons making naked in field

Building army of labour valients,though there was ming of blowing stick

Like  horse of sarot,missing path danced tired

 

King sat  in border seing collapse of base of truth

Wore dress of brahmins of false worship false mind

Controling multiformed(bahu rupi),stood taking challenge .

 

Likee  (thirsty?)dhanvanthari who grinds medicine to hunger of world

Upto king sat chair walked removing obstucle

Held  hand and called king,became mother by smearing (touchig,savari)body

Asking anesthesia medicine to that  spoiled beauty moment

Told you are doctor and palace is hospital

 

With desire of carrying bringing  medicine making roots

All saint suphi pakiras  are wandering forest and hills

To sqeeze tiger’s milk wearing  hiden dress(maaru vesha)

Are bribging out cow faced tigers

In army I an last like single male elephant(sallaga)

What if all are present self medication is not proper

With agreed king removed loneliness

Joined bhikkus who were for dehi(beging??)

5) time is rolling only:

Wicks are burnibg standing in line

Swallowing at once  all dark of earth

Like thirst of empire of  kings(lamdlords) since centuries.

 

Those who told burning wick is  oil getting wondered

Like absorbing bottom of soil pot  head top(netthi)  weting

Where is light to wet wick  hesitation of no fire

Like moon without sun like moonless stars

Bagedundu(eating ……………?) forgeting enemity  land source history

Diged epics absorbing all themes bouncing.ss

 

Wicks are enlighting burning daily eternal

Making darkness to run  with anxiety (tension)of sowing  consciousness

Stretching eternal tongue opening edition of truth like saint’s mind

Light of inner mind(inner stage) like opening inner eye  brightness

Like body in soil like maya in in field(bayalu)

to shapeless statue doing eternal (daily) worship and food offer(naivedya)

wicks are emiting lightburning their body

wicks are burning only beyond place and time.s

 

flowing only like  gange and kaveri

like blowing air only like rain pouring coolness

like tune of  group birds pouring melody into ear

like blind siting  singing in sandy (santhe maala) 

light won’t dry up dark is melting only

as though earth rotating  like pouring rain

worrying time is  rolling only rolling only

6)sandy of which town?:

 

Doctor who grinded medicine to pain of world

Without giving treatment to his child’s disease

Was tearing(fading) like  rubing sandal like burning wax

 

In debse forest keeping little steps

Searching fibres and roots swinging days  and  nights

On snow ball baking in  eye fire

Making medicine  became tone of poor orphans

 

Bringing thousands of cooks to hunger of world

Making festival (heavy) meals remaine in hunger saint.

To dance of peacock  playing eternal mrudangam

Loosing leg was crawling handicaped(ananga)

Emiting smile pushing  kulanthari(mutated?....................) species

Searcher of new species  local magician.

 

Before beginning of monsoon  crossing

Cry of hen  will not come  told tima jnani(kala jnani)

Breast milk becoming black disease becoming dream

Picture writer of those who  have migrated for drinking water.

 

Till yesterday drawing picture of nandanavana

Today stood naked in  dried up river

Which caste base son of whose house

 

If source of caste(community) is searched pylvan(jatti) of lower street

If stands knowing base  controller of life water(jiva jala)

To birth and street  old(badarayana) bandh(badu,seperation mark)

If snow ball rain pours in day time  news of flow of flood

 

Like flow of rain water  is there flow of human race(kula)?

I am poison necked

Getting(forming) body  absorbing sun lightspilling green

Giving mass of flowers and fruits  daily  neelakanta(blue necked).

 

Soon after seing dark  being caught by  roll of guts

 Eating warm hot to morning chill

Tying basinga (…………………..?) to archestra of group of parrots

Tying thoran(leaf garland) of shadow whobroke  egg  

Allowing kid of dew drops

Mixing manure water to  to moderateness of plough

Made barren field into banana garden.

Whem swinging crop bunch stood    keeping chaterpiller (kanna kavegolu………………..?) of eye

 

Kept amrutha of chest in in jaw of fruit

Did not find anybody satisfied. Even one

Manure hand feather left(garibitta……………….?) bodied

In bud of plant only  absorning  sepsis of poison

In midst of grown dindu(banana stem?)…………..) blended like bondage

No saliva of manthra  no rice grain of boredom

Grew manthrakshathe  kept in grown mango leaf

Seing naughtyness of purohith who sprinkled (prokshisu)

became leaf of distant ashoka(arali)tree.s

8)layer(membrane ) detached snake:

Built snake house(huttha) of fear of sin anf punya(good deed)

Left snakes of scriptures and manthras

You sat in holes(kove) with peace  of mind

Keeping us for watching  gave post of  buthcer.(katuka)

 

Like snake detaching  membrane rubed life in army

I am final soldier  you are magician of my chest

Fron huttha to another drilled life path inside

To noise of sarot collapsed kinnari

 

In leasure was playing  to melody of pungi (pipe) sound

Leaving subordination of life was shying in dance

Allowing mungoose (mungisi) blood and wound whole body

Which justice on that day on which heart best  stoped(stagnated)

 

Leaning  body to tender sunlight  if stood rising hood

Thinking it as plan of biting   cut cut and killed

Peeling body keeping dry told colour wonder

Full of mind poison vessel where to pour tell

 

Full of long stone  carving my picture  and laugh

Allowing all lasses  make to smear red and dance

Pouring milk grindinf salt will get fruit of punya

Holding vessel of sin  are wandering daily

Are you safe chilk

diging seing  hungry  hagevu(……………….?)

when depth becomes free?

 

By pouring drops mud hands

Washing fixing eye fence

Lighting soil lamp  so as to be cool

To mother who watched through out night  vayasadalli(……………..?)

 

Majing to wear white cloth

Making to hold   light of burning wood

Hile diging lass earth  when honnaru(…………….?) flows

Reamof distant dress  wishing to get golds

 

Full of disky path

Strong desires

When fountain from sand flows

Line of dreams that child will get wet

 

Let there be spirit of hill (mountain)

Let there be support of earth

Why desire of holding breath tight.s

 

Flown and came parrot  anxiety of rearing it

Does infected child be grown up

In anger of eagles  like watching greem

Why mad faces are  whitened

Mother house of motherhood

 Is not cool air pond

How many eggs

Gathered our old woman(grand mother)

Chasing through out town desire of making distant.

 

Arranging eggs

Has protected(watched) grand mother very active

 

Goudthi(owber) of bird’s nest

Rubbing crop bunch spilling grain has   awaited queue

 

In mouth of seven towns

 Wwishpering talk of chest nest  filling mouth garathi(house wife)

 

Keeping knot

Hooking to waist  eternal talk  she searchibg life

 

On dream like this

Full of exploding bomb  grain mixing

 

Sbeak of hungry kids

As pecked and eaten mixing poison

 

Fulll of street

Series of chattaes  not knowing grand mother daily snoring

11)storm:

From west direction  blowing storm

Why with this much of force  oreyithide(……………..?)leving chills

No dust no particles  no tiredness of eye lid

Without sound from where stiffness came  leaving fear

Js bringing new dream on in morning

At evening spilling light in dark

 

Full of dream princisses line in car street only

Stone chariots are flowing slowly  no talk anywhere

In troden legs onlyshining flash creeper  no pain of sufering

Chariot draging devotees  various kinds of dress  day dress

In tender lasses draging  front rope  enthusiasn fountain

By side carrying noga(burden)  valient sons mind towards distance.

 

Pulling play enthusiasm pushing had finished  till mid night

Coming whirl wind  as though had rised colour becoming whirl wind

No worn dresses  no worn dresses (apparels) all maya

All females and males hard pillars(goragamba……………….?)in naked dark

Which is this noise what a financial inflation  not reachable to hand

Washing poor and rich  cleaning where to stand?

12)daily shift:

Time to time satisfaction building sorrow ocean under hill

To penalty temple god  unsatisfied priest  job free

Requests of devotees  baking in untimely  heat(ubbe)

Mass ofbricks desire in desert  sky creeper building

 

Generations to kind of paying tax  noded head and stood

Building dam to door  as sluice(thubu)  bent back and sat

Is it better to call life maya  of illusion life

Good behavior  sorrow of good devotees is endless here time mere shining

 

In vrushabheof clean pond bad odour filling raga of mud

Fragrant lotuses  as though bathing in blood pond garland amazing

Giving neck standing in gentleman’s line  heavy rush

In house left town tumult malige(upstairs………………..?)childern hungry

 

I base of hill keeping explosives 

Have sit standing relatives nalini(lotus…………………..?) fixing chest to rifle

In thalamala(……………………?) town whirl air of long sigh

Sleepless shift (pahare –guard) people have stood daily shifts

Keeping eye in eye

Valley becoming  like river

Pouring tears for what

 

Keeping mind in mind

Leaning to thorn tree

For whom jasmine was grown

 

In moon light

In yard of temple

Where is ghee poured to kept meals

 

Intoxication of jasmine

Fragrance of ghee

Will lot of tears wash

 

Tell yes if yes

 

Otherwise riding dream horse

In good function(osage) of pallanga(bed) sleep innocent

 

Mind of getting njured

Spraying nadaru(………….?)

By which to measure tell clever(skilled)

 

Union is feel of

Ungulimala to me

Not  tiring body  drying up (hingisuva………………?)machaine

 

Withering from  manthra

Not mango Not neem charn filling

Matured full fruit your eye

 

Before blindness comes

Before   detatching of stalk

Tie to chest of guts my shield

 

Tread thigh skin  footwears

Come touch tied chest  baands(baandugalu,stone marks)

Rise and come fearlessly steps

13)request of boatman:

In boatwithout you

What is this lonely journey

New boat new row

I became boatman  no your presence(sulivilla………..?)

In boat without you

I became loneli traveller

 

Traditional father not knowing mother

Will they Doubt my sibcirity

Leave fear of being left in mid water

Believe me who will make to reach bank by swimming

No boatman no friends

 

Full boldness is my swimming dress

Don’t delay further  time is passing(seting)

There is plan of changing mind tomorrow

In sandal cup moon light

Have mixed and collected to your body.

 

As there may be hunger  bringing matured nuts(dvaragayi…………?)

Have collected foamy milk fruits

Playing your chest veenas in boat

Will walk playing raga of seven notes(sapthasvaras)

Full river serious heavy mind floating

 

Come cool whirl of tiredness of body

Will pour love paste will remove(noreve…….?) world  blame

Believing love godess  come friend

14)rain of consolation:

in dense forest with world protecter

Like orphan child grown piece of sandal

To emit fragrance is talk of eternal truth

Suckling somebody’s breast bu side of road

Grown child deing fineness of nurse’s love

Experiencing taste of motherhood  like spliting  laugh of consolation.

 

Though  fragrance is kept in bondage for hundred  times

Fragrance environment  is not natural character.

One who builds yesterdays  without sense of tomorrow

For slaping one cheek to give another cheek

 

Yesu who rised cross  smiling face

To cool burn of body sea’s water channel

Though flows for much time will flame stop for a moment.

 

Light of full moon becoming life liquid

Is it life protecter protecting life mass

Guru selling sandal  river of moon light

In sound (word)ocean will beauty elephant  get wets

 

Black cloud of palace melting to thisrt of hut

Pouring love rain  will it console (cool)crying kids

Emiting view of success  jumping obstruction

Reaching goal horse  will it see side once

 

In run like this army of blinds and lames

To kind of crawling daily will rain of consolation pour.

Not beautiful parrot

Paste (paaka)of vision and creation

Not beautiful fan(chamara) green breath’s  heaven

Smile of child is not iece of sandal but sandal world

 

What if anybody rings bell of awakenness

What if sun and moon are complained

In land of rich  in net of fisherman

Like star and moon  caught  and strugling  world love.

 

By side high way sound of cjild silent thirst

Chaild caught in  hamds of path moover is asking

Who are you what is your laugh guru tell  my consciousness

In yard of consciousness  green river breath’s rain

 

In plough of lovefeel is sowing seed

When jiva  manure  bud of mind field

Bud is  angrytagaru(yak) grass blade is nadaru(…………?).of root

At inner depth of feel ploughing plough’s obstruction

Crop drying veed (kale) budding  in draught town, life naked.

Moon light mens not  light of moon

Foam milk river yogi grown crop

Sun light means not sun rays

Flame of burn of body garland in neck of poor woman

Stars reflecting moon light

heated by heat of sun light above rised clouds

world spliting opening mouth moment of having giddiness

filtering one drop to netthi(head top)  why did not become soft

 

time of union of  sky and earth union feastival

gree of forest breath of clouds mediater’s dirt

heat becomes water uterus pmpregnating   yoga wheel

fallen seed buding becoming fruit some where

coloured water(okuli) of betthingalu(……………?) will not allow crop to grow

 

life water oozes  in each particle of  sun light

poetry becomes eye  not to blinds in world
