GURU DESCIPLE RELATION WRITTEN BY SRI SRI SRI KAIVARA YOGI NARAYANA YATHINDRA.TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH BY DR.RAVEENDRA HOSADURGA

1)sri kaivara nayana yogivarya  I beginning of this book, for removal of obstucles,  Ganapathi, for progress of  this book composition  has prayed goddess of education  sharade.In the same way  he has worshiped  sathkavies(good poets,jnanies) ,Sahaja yogis, ,munies, gods,brahmins who know brahma,,in moving and non moving  as antharyami(indwelling regulater,niyamaka),  enlighting god(paramathma,supreme self,universal  self)

In many ways.

 

2)God what a grace you showd there?  By your grace all worries  got solved and went. Msaking me to indulge in athma chinthana(athma thoughts), you graced nithyananda(eternal joy). Hey! Srimannarayana, channakeshava shouri  namaskarams to you.

 

3)Guru who showd   goal of liberation path(mokahsa path)  is shiva svarupa(shiva form ) only. By teachings of such guru,  two paths called birth and death  both paths get closed. To suitable disciple,  with much grace, making to flow grace vision   makes to get liberation.

 

4)To all physical diseases   there is one or another kind of medicine. But to mental disease of  mind called ignorance  on this earth there is no medicine  with any doctor. To destroy  disease of ignorant(ajna)  there is a doctor ,and  he himself is guru.

 

5) parabrahma)nikshepa,treasure)  can’t be searched every where. It is in body only.  To is there is a tight lock seal.s by removing box and to remove  treasure(nikshepa,parabrahma) a suitable key is needed. Without  Key(giri teachings)  treasure can’t be got.

6)Guru should not be considered as human guru. He is human form  parabrahma. He himself is  sadguru. He should be served without cheating  and get his likings. Then guru teaches. By strength of that teaching  lock opens by itself.ss Then treasure is got.

 

7)opening eye of knowledge(jnanachakshu), yogi who can see what ever others do , will not get down to arguments with them. In goal shown by guru, always making one’s mind to teside,  doing athma contemplation(athma anusandhana), will be there.

 

8) as things caught by fire are burnt into ashes, fire called guru upadesha9teachings), burning bad charecters in disciple ,produce good charecters in him. Such efficient guru if searched everywhere will not be got.In our body only that guru has hiden and sit.

 

9)In navel lotus(nabhhi kamala,manipurass)   without observing enlighing light, one should not tell that he is guru.  Who tells like that  he is guru without seing light(Jyothi) ,is not at all guru. He is donkey in human form.

 

10)It is not easy to get liberated from desire ropes.  When this planet cheste(mischief) touches   mind losing it’s peace,  as though tumulting,desire, fascination ropes  attach, mind will not flow towards god. To remove these desires  guru’s grace is necessarily(essentially) needed.  By guru’s grace liberation can be got.

 

11) True guru will remove(tear) problems in family.  He will pull out  fascination bods(ropes)  with roots.  He would have got brahma realization(sakshathkara). But still like a thief  without informing his secrets to others,  he will keep quiet by himself. People will not be able to recognize such guru.

 

12) To disciple who hjas indulged in practice(sadhana) , if obstructions come, without seing  further obstructions,  with pain when he remembers guru ,guru by showing path to him, will remove anxiety.  Thinking such guru as parabrahma  he should be worshiped.s

 

13) This body is not permanent.it gets destroyed some how some where. .knowing this truth  better purusha  would have understood completely.Desire of company of wife,fear, he would cut completely .whether in town or forest ,without guessing difference in mind, in both two places, sees equally.He himself is yogisha.

 

14)Natural guru who knows brahma, what ever may be thing, money,grain,vehicle,ornaments,navarathnas will not ask and get from others.Such guru should be identified and served.

 

15)fruit, nut,leaf,areca,bhangi,tobacco, rice(anna,food)   given by desciples guru will accept. Wealth,,money  excetra things  he won’t accept.

 

16)doing ghata research,s guru  who moves in inside world of body, vijnanapara with knowledge, doing body search  experienced himself is  true guru.

 

17)Standing in  samadhi(trance), in yoga sleep  one can see  whole brahmanfda(universe) has drowned in field(bayalu) easily. Thst parathathva bviveki who knows  that easy  is himself supremely holy  guru.

 

18)without any pain9disturbance), snake detaches it’s layer. In the same way,if great man knows  to  renunciate(thyaga) body , he  himself is Ananda yogi .he is high.

 

19) badhe(distrirbing) gurus  to get money excetra from devotees and desciples, prise them. But teaching(bodhe) gurus   giving chance to come near only for good desciples, keep away others. Teaching gurus  without becoming happy by praise (bhushane) ,without worrying to blames  will be with equal mind happily.

 

20)s there should be inner purification.In mind and in doing work, one feel should be there. Such guru will not give   importance to uoter view. Great people like tender kind(as though not knowing anything) without fear, will be there.

 

21)god is omnipresent. Threr is no place where there is no god.  In moving and non moving things,in anu(particle),renu(pollen) thrina(grass),kasta(stick)  he is residing.like this visionaries tell/.  Field (bayalu)  itself is brahmanda(universe).   Brahmanda itself is  residence of brahma. One who knows this truth is equal to brahma.

 

22) to seed of kathaka  there is power of clearing mud. In the same way guru cleans  mind polluted by sense objects.  Guru who makes ajnani into sujnani   is sadguru only . not other. He is parabrahma form.

 

23) Desciple who has guru’s teachinhs   keeping mind firmly in the path shown by guru, ,without moving away from that goal,,  should continue practice.  Without showing his experiences outside, ,without leaving yightness,will be always attached to parathathva(supreme principle).

 

24)s maya caaled ignorance  getting cut by sword called mind,making away worldly matters way,,leaving affection(mamakara) on body, should be fearless.  Then sadguru likes ,making  him away from    births and deaths,  graces fearlessness(Abhaya).

 

25)sby carrying,delivering protected, debt of  mother  and father,sby serving in their old age, cheldern should repay.  Bit by teaching, showing godm one who makes to cross from worldly bondage (bhava bandhana)  guru’s debt can’t be vrepaid for ever.

 

26) In great ocean of biths and deaths  getting caught  humans are undergoing very much sorrow.  By doing guru’s service,  getting liberated from woldly bondage  they don’t know. Thinking  enjoyment of worldly things only as  feeling all, have become ignorents.

 

27) Dispassion statue   disciple, to get liberation depending upon guru,  requwts him.This body is not permanent, .in future recith is not unavoidable. When it is so,  what is my fate like this questions.s without getting angry  kindly to liberation path to him  he prays.

 

28) sarrshavedi,if touches iron  enough ,converts Iron into gold.  Guru’s teachings like sparshavedi(parushashile,touch stone) . by sincerely following teachings of guru, ,desciple binding in his heart lotus,  if practices  parabhagya(supreme luck ) is got.

 

29)joy and sorrow  when these are got,without  enjoying joy,,without sorrowing to sorrow,keeping mind in balance ,always without forgetting guru teachings,  standing in heart lotus,  practice should be done. Then parabhagya9supreme luck,liberation) is got.

 

30)leaving love and hatred , by destroying six enemies(Arishadvargas),identifying holly guru,,believing his feet,,holding tightly, his service should be done.then guru ,examining desire of mind of disciple,shows yoga path to him.

 

31)liberation path can be shown. Guru’s source can be shown,If shown ,to see disciple who has ability to see , is not got by  his divine vision . like tis  Sri Yoginarayana  yathindra  has told with oain(mind pain).

 

32)sdepending on sadguru,  knowing liberation path, practicing, get paramapada (supreme post), like this  nobody wife,children,,mother ,fther  school master  all these will not tell. When it is so  how to know liberation path?

 

33)by going to mango garden,if coconut is searched it will not be got.In the same way, joining with ignorents, isf they asked to show  path of liberation, he can’t show. Therefore searching efficient vedanthi he sgould be depended upon.

 

34)sa good behaved man,,if he is in company of bad people, their talk,behavior,teachings,due to influence of those, he will also become bad nan.  In the same way,if a bad man is in good company, gradually following  good behaviors becomes good man only. Therefore mumukshu (Iliberation desirer)  should be  always in company of  good people.

 

35)Desciple before approaching guru,  should examine behaviors and talks of that person. Then it be clear whether that guru is  real or false .Without examining if one accepts as guru sinply,by leaving profesion whivh he is doing,There will be only mere waste of time.

 

36)few people  tell  that they are yogis ,again few tell  they are avadhuthas, munies, Brahmajnanies.telling like this make people to believe.  Like this praising themselves by themselves  walking people,one should not believe and serve them.Like this yathindra has told.

 

37)A disciple should not select two persons as gurus. Teachings of two will not be same.  If one guru teaches one type  another guru teaches in another way.  By this a disciple will have crying situation. Desciple who chooses one guru and serves is better.

 

38)if removes treasures and keeps in hand,If I slips from hand of one who took it, it will not give fruit.  In the same way If disciple gets destroyed  by not following teachings of guru with sincerity, what is mistake of guru?it is not good to bleme guru for not getting treasure.

 

39)a disciple should have faith in guru.  Guru should not be cheated in anyway.  Serving as per order of guru shold make guru to like. If guru realizes that  there is belief and firmness  in disciple ,then guru  by giving fearlessness(Abhaya) toDisciple ans teaches.

 

40) To guru who has done athmabodhe(athma teachings) everyday without missing should be worshipped in athma.without having devotion in guru,,if guru remembrance(smarane) is forgotten , liberation path will not be easy.Having faith in guru, if practice is done with sincerity  liberation is got.

 

41)One who is disciple,  before requsting teachings from guru,he should have crossed stages and stages in adhyathma  field. Should have vedas and epics.  Without knowing all these,,to disciple who is not knowing anything,  guru how to teach?

 

42)  believing words of guru completely,,if walked in path shown by guru,  like pots which get destroyed  by hit of sickle  within half a minute, for which potman has taken years together to prepare, All sins of disciple will get destroyed.

 

43)A disciple should leave ahamkara(ego). Like a servent with great people who know adhyathmic (spiritual)secrets, ,per day at least for one moment  time if he is in their friendship(coliving,sahavasa), he by knowing parathathva(supreme principles) vikaras like affection(mamakara),fascination excetras  will go off from mind.

 

44)King hitting his enemies in warfield, if dies  he wll get  valience heaven. In the same wy if disciple moves in path shown by  guru,if he dies he will become guru crossing  guru.(it means one should not go out of path).

 

45) without getting angry  with those who blame, without blaming them, who  see  with honour,,scholars,-they can be considered as guru. If blamed or praised, without seing them with equal vision,  friendship of those  who does not see with equal vision  should not be done.

 

46) present in brahmanda pura(universe),  can’t be  taught  by teachings.It is of no use if guru teaches simply about parabrahma.  If proper way of seing parabrahma is taught, to disciple, enough.Through that path, on following, disciple will know all secrets.  

 

47) if taught deeply  or in detail  to disciple it becomes very heavy.  Mind  listens  by forgetfulness and therapu(……?).  Mind can’t stand in goal properly.  Therefore guru should give  firmly only one goal  to disciple.s

 

48) unless maturity  and interest  he should not be given teachings. If an immature is taught  he will get  corrupt and spoiled. If taught to good charactered, to him parabhagya(supreme luck) is got. Brahmavidya yields results.

 

49) Approaching guru, if guru kanike(remuneration,gift) is given to guru,  true guru without accepting it, returns to disciple. As guru has three Eshanas ,thrigunas to guru there is no need of money.

 

50)  Giving sattention  desciple’s body activity(fitness)  if he is suitable for yoga practice, ,to him yoga,if old  to him athma worship method,ss teachinh ,who relieves from  bhava bondage (this worldly bondage,iha) , then he is true guru.

 

51)Kaivara Narayana Yathindra  to teaching gurus  gives one warning.secret of icchamarana(death when desired) should not be taught to all. It is very secret. If disciple is able to maintain secret then guru can show,he has told.

 

52)One who realizing  (self realization,athma sakshathkara)parabrahma  who is residing in athma, who is there in this world  who has worshiped hin? People does not know athma worship. Those who know  doing athmarchane(athma worship)  that man is better.

 

53)sri yogi yathindra Narayana  has described  behavior of disciple  who is fit for guru’s teachings. Disciple who has depended upon guru,feeling his guru only is god, with complete mind should serve. Leaving enquiries  and kriyas(works,actions)  should be always in  hari thought(Harichinthane).desire on females should be  burnt totally.  His mind should be clear.he should have no anykind of  defects(kalanka).If such disciple is got  to him teachings can be done. It is very difficult to  get such king of disciple in sthis world.

 

54) Making tiger to believe  flesh in it’s mouth can be removed.sugar cane chewd by elephant king  can be removed out from mouth.  But igborence rooted in mind of ignorant(Ajnani) bitter(kahi)  can’t be cleared.

 

55)king who desires for other;s females  will get destroyed.if house mistress(yajamani) is  wicked house,,family will get destroyed.  In the same way  if ear is given to  teachimgs of  Mayavadi mind will surely get destroyed.

 

56) Six mathas 9systems) have guru.There community of those who serve them.  Goal of six systems is to see god. But gurus who are attached to these mathacharas are not able to   give liberation to desciples. If in case  by their teachings  if guru and desciples becme liberated  then there will be nobody in town  and it’s door has to be closed.

 

57) yathindra has  identified and told about two kinds of gurus.One is acharyas who have got  god realization. Theit kindful grace will purify   desciples. But those who are engaged in worldly affairs  pain(badhe) gurus  make people to unmdergo difficulties. Such loukika(mundane) should not be believed even in dream.

 

58) A guru who does not know when where death comes,one who does not know this, such guru’s  teachings sjould not be listened.If ear is given to  their words ,mind of listener  without behaving in proper way get spoiled. Guru means god(paramathma) only. True guru has god realization . Thjose who tell they are gurus for show are human animals.

 

59)Those,these,ours,yours, those who talk with difference are not knowing principles.  In vedantha they have remained very behind. Unless  difference is vanished paamathma  thathva(God’s principle) will not be known. Those who do difference   does not know secret.Their intention is  added with mayopaya

(maya plan)  they should not be believed.

 

60)If moon light  enlightens in forest  there is nobody to experience  it.In this way if a guru does not know  and guides if such guru is depended upon,  what he can give? Searching  vijnani guru, if vteachings are got from him,all sins in man will get destroyed.

 

61)kulagurus who are attached to kula(caste), are many in this world.  By teaching  kulacharas (caste behaviors) no luck is coming. Guru who has left  caste is available on earth rarely.they should be depended upon.

 

62) If few gurus  engage in  publicity of their caste behaviors  other few spend much time on their  position or mata development. Thrse are tied caste(matha). By following them,,believing them as guru  they will undergo sorrows by themselves.They won’t guide path of liberation also.

 

63) guru meands brahmajnani. He knows secret. His practice (avhievement) can’t be understood so easily.without getting brahmajnana one should not tell  that they are gurus.few dress wearers  telling themselves as gurus cheat. These have filled their mind in kama darkness.They will not know   secret of practice of true guru.  

 

64)One who is greedy  always ,with desire of money, will make plans  of  cheating others only.  Greed person  though talks how ever much colourful words,  ears should not be given to his words.s words of renunciated’s(thyagi) should be listened . Should not  believe words of those  who does not know secret .Their words are like doll’s play  mere acting.

 

65)If seed is sowd on stone rock it will not bud out. It to bud out and become plant  it should be sowd in land. In the same way  to intellectless  all should not be taught. It will not touch his mind.  As he has no intellect  teaching will not give result to him.

 

66)disciple should be good charactered.should have lost interests in sense objects completely. Shouls have crossed thrigunas and walked further. If such kind of disciple is got,guru can inform loneliness(ekantha)  in seven days only. A descple who has no eligibility,  for a period of twelve years  at the door  of guru even if waits and stands,  he will not get guru’s teachings.

 

67) Controlling  Inspirations and expirations  method of doing kumbhaka  Guru is ready to teach. There are such gurus on earth. But to such teachinmg  disciple should earn guru’s grace. If taught by guru,  disciple will be able to do kumbhaka.

 

68) Knowing some how  little vedantha matters ,not having guru devotion, to shunaka(one who can’t control mind), teachinmgs should not be given. Even if given disciple  will not reach goal  due to inmsincirity and disinterest.s He blames guru’s power. He traits guru.  Than a person knowing a little, not knowing anything,,but one who has devotion in guru  if taught quickly  he will get brahmavidya.

 

69) knowledge(consciousness )  secretful. It is difficult to get it. Till when ignorance  is present in mind   till that  he will not get knowledge. Therefore  a disciple first remove his ignorance. Capable disciple  identifying guru  should serve him. By teachings of  guru  ignorance is destroyed within  few moments.

 

70)Performing yoga practice,achieving mudras,if becomes yogishwara  he is blessed.  At the time of practice,  if diseases are troubling, to get cured by medical treatment ,leaving this desire, thiking god himself is doctor, practice should be continued.How ever much severe  disease is ,yogi should not think about it.

 

71)Leaving interest about body and disease,if paramathma thought is continued without gap,paramathma likes. To one who is bold graces kaivalya post. In that way who makes mind to stand in paramathma,is mahathma(great soul). To dress wearers and  those who have body pride(abhimana) will not get  liberation.

 

72)few thinking that they will get liberation  will do donations. By donations  punya is accumulated.  Temporary heavenly joy is got.  If one knows his form(svarupa)  liberation is got.

 

73)knowing maturity of  mind of disciple  guru will accept disciple.Not only that much,showing grace on disciple  accepts him as  ‘manasa puthra’.addressing as disciple son(shishys thanaya)  with affection  teaches. In this body there two strong enemies.they only are kama and krodha(anger). They mayaputhras in body. these are always enemies  to progress of jivi.first method of winning them should be known.

 

74)To win kama and anger yathindra  has told onemeans plan(sadhanopaya). Vision and mind without moving these two,in middle eye,targeting seing, if practiced ,trial of these two(kama and anger)  without moving will be under control.Thinking that it it is difficult to practice like that  one should not leave,he has told.

 

75)Mind and vision(nota,dristi)) both thesein middle eye if concentrated and observed, elephant like strong  eight madas(prides) ,transactions of five senses,mischives of  six enemies(arishadvargas) , reducing loneliness town appears(Ekantha pura).

 

76)Desciples who have got guru’s teachings ,maintaining guru’s teachings with sincerity and devotion,,if practice is done towards goal shown by guru, he will reach goal in six months.He will become equal to guru. Next without birth, as yogishwara  gets liberation.

 

77) Vayu should be rised  up in sushumna naadi. Above  binding(closing?) thrikuta door,rised up air without getting down  should be done.This is related to kundali yoga practice. It should be got by  teachings of efficient guru.

 

78)Making disciple pure hearted,removing his all  bd charecters and worldly fascinations,,giving him teachings, true guru who makes him get liberated to his feet  I will do namaskarams .like this Sri Narayana yathindra has told. By this we can understand  greatness of sadgurus.

 

79)Here he has described liberation path.  Chinmaya present in  between both eyes  should be seen with middle eye(nadu gannu). That nis path to vaikunta. It is proper high way. If practice is done like this  supreme luck(para bhagya) is got. To move in this high way  vision(nota) and mind should unite.

 

80)To man who has Thamasa character, ahamkara(ego),hatred, jealousy,,blaming others all these bad charecters will reside. He has lost humanity. That thamasa character  pushes him to deep depth(prapatha). Giving up such thamasa charecters,if he is thathvajnani(philosopher)  then he can be believed.

 

81) humans get births according to karmas. Due to karma fruit of previous birth this birth has taken place. In the same was karmas done in this birth  is cause of next birth. Like this humans though  yugas and  yugas are lost, they will be getting rebirths only. Man avoiding  rebirth,in this birth only, should see paramatha who is cause guru.

 

82) suitable and  limited food should be taken. In this way  always as days roll, rule bound food should be taken. Then six enemies will get destroyed.  If six enemies get destroyed,  paramathma thoughts will move easily. This method shivayogi knows.

 

83) man is  body wearing athma. He is athma svarupa(form) only. Due to ignorance he is not able to see his svarupa(form).  By earning knowledge  by practice when he finds his own form, ,he will come to know he is athma only and not other. Therefore you should find out your own  svarupa(form).

 

84) stopping transactions of nine doors(nava dvaras), bu kumbhaka pranayama  holding air,teing air bag(gali mute) in body, uniting mind and vision  keeping goal, if goes on seing,itself by itself liberation path is  revealed. After finding out that path, ,to practitioner there will be no any kind of fear.s

 

85)Human birth  is very difficult to get. In all life masses(jiva rashies), human birth is better. If human birth it is possible to get liberation.  Now as human life is got this is good time. Therefore in this birth only,  knowing your tuue form, in future one should become birthless.s

 

86) Should reside in place where there is no  dense  population.s  In residing place only one should be there,not others.  If two join starting to talk practice is spoiled.  Therefore one should be alone and practice.  Coming to stage of samadhi  staying in samadhi (trance)for foue  Ghaliges(moments)  paramathma’s darshan should be done.

 

87) Body pride,one’s position and honour,all greatness which one knows about himself,these are all obstructions for practice of devotion practice.ss If desires and self pride are kept away, it is possible  walk in liberation path. These words are true.

 

88)To children father mother ask to do  material(Dravya,money) earning. Calculating to earn money to money,with greediness accumulating more money,s,by that experience joy.like this parents teach.

 

89)s In previous ppoem, informed teachings,  making mumukshu(liberation desirer)  to indulge in worldly activities, ,obstruct Adhyathma (spiritual) path.  Without making to indulge in  materialistic life, carrying in paramathma thought  to get such guru is difficult.  Efficient gurus,  like family holders will be in middle of  family holders. To superficial vision they will be as though not knowing anything.

 

90)Path of getting Brahmajnana is very easy. But not for all.’for one who is sujnani it is easy’ if principles are known it is very easy. To sea all as equal,is possible only if there is sadguru’s grace.

 

91)ssmind attaching to  msaya and fascinations, is covered by dark. In order to root out that darkness,  efficient guru is not available in this world. To one who tries to  remove darkness  to such person only, to remove darkness  paramathma only  graces guru.

 

92) body structure is composed of 24 principles. 25 th principle is jivi or jivathma. 26th principle is paramathma.Allways mind should be made to settle in paramathma. To   chase goal(Lakshya,paramathma )  arrow should be invested(kept) in bow  and then shooted. Then worldly matters will be removed  from mind.Guru who knows this secret is very rare.

 

93) To find out brahma people follow believe many paths and prtform.ss Gsyathri japa,gayathri Homa(sacrifice), sandhyavandane,piligrimage,  voes celebrations  excetras. By these celebrations punya fruits are got. But there will be no realization of god.

 

94)getting teachings of guru, in the path shown by guru,disciple doing practice(achievement), after getting god realization, he will be equal to guru. After  realization of brahma  he becomes brahma himself.After becoming brahma  to him there will be nobody.

 

95)disciple who has reached goal like that, flows guru’s teachings. By this guru’s labour,guru’s teachings became fulfilled(blessed). If guru’s teachings are  fulfilled(followd)  guru’s debt will be solved.Like this desciple who has remitted debt of guru is  blessed.

 

96)sGuru’s teaching is strong(powerful). That teaching is a divine medicine. When disciple follwos (practices,achieves) teachings of guru with devotion, guru showd path journey, enters body. Makes mind clear. Astamadas(eight prides) will go off. Arisgadvargas reduce into pieces.

 

97)Due to effect of teachings of guru , five senses, intellect,ahamkara(ego), And recognizing astamadas (eightprides) disciple will get power of  identifying them. There is such powerful guru in the worlf. But  he is not available easily.

 

98)By strength of teachings given by Sadguru  to one who is yogi  in heart lotus  parathathva words  bounce and enit out. Those words are inducted by god only  and have come. Writing them, if thrown in flowing river, they without getting washed off  again climb bank and come.Like this has told revanayathindra.

 

99)due to influence of guryu’s teachinh, disciple ha got  brahmarealisation(self realization).  There is no difference between them high or low even a little. Both are equal in all kinds. Now guru dakshine who should give to whom? After brahma realization there is no any kinnd of debt. No question of gurudakshine also.

 

100) Words which spill from heart  who made tpo speak and behave  are you only guru god. You only are the one who showd path to liberation.  O truth behaved  vasudeva’s son krishna  namaskarams to you.Like this Narayana Yathindra  has dedicated namaskarams to god.
